***************************
So this is my life now huh? I'm a sve...
I never would have imagined this happening. And on top of that I'm being considered lucky?
There's literally nothing lucky about this at all. This is wrong! Can't anyone see that?!
Unfortunately there's not much I can do about it but bow my head like the guy in front of me ordered, I'm guessing the castle's warden?
"My name is Sir Edwin, the chief castle warden" he said with a proud face.
"I'm the one who will be handling you... peasants" he paused for a while after saying you and dragged the word peasants.
"Your job is to clean and serve the castle and castle authorities. Failure to do so has its consequences. That's your number one rule; obey your authorities,
2; Do not disrespect authority, 3; Do not touch anything that looks more valuable than you, which is practically almost everything if not everything in this pace, 4; Do not do anything to make your authorities uncomfortable. You do not need me to expin this one do you? Well since I'm so nice I'll give an instance. A sve is not meant to eat in the same pce as those higher. Now you get it.And finally rule number 5; follow all these rules or suffer the consequences.
cough
Sir Edwin turned around.
"Who did that?"
No one answered.
He gave a dissatisfied look and faced forward.
I thought that was the end of it but I was wrong. He suddenly stretched out his left hand and formed a small fireball. I was shocked. I still can't get used to the fact that I'm not on earth anymore and the sight is just so strange but weirdly alluring-
"I will burn everyone if the culprit is not found."
What!? This guy is crazy and it was clear I wasn't the only one who thought so. Everyone hit panic mode.
"It was him!"
What- I turned. I saw a sve point at the one next to him. The culprit was a smaller boy with delicate eyes.
Sir Edwin went towards the boy and asked "What was rule number two?"
"D-do-do not d-dis-disrep, disrespect authority"
"Very good"
Sir Edwin used his right hand to grab the boys neck
"That was disrespectful. It's enough that you're allowed to breathe the same air as me now you cough!"
"Ah- I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Ple- Aaaah!!"
The boy let out a hurling scream. The warden had spped the boy with his left hand. Yes, the one with the fireball.
"Aaaaaaah!!"
"I did warn you about the consequences, didn't I, didn't I!"
I bowed my head even harder. This was scary. He's getting burned because he coughed. I started to cry. Poor child, he looked like an 11 year old but I guess no one cares. This isn't right! This shouldn't be overlooked. This isn't right... but it's happening anyway.
The warden finally drops the kid with a proud expression on his face. But what pissed me off the most is the fact I heard the warden mumble
"Sometimes my power surprises me"
Your power? I've been here for like a day. I have not seen any other sorcerers to compare him to but it's obvious he's a petty delusional weakling. How can you call yourself powerful for beating up a little kid. I'm pretty sure he couldn't actually burn all of us with that tiny fleck of a fire ball even if he wanted to. He picks on the weak and calls himself strong!?
Scum!Scum!Scum!Scum!Scum!Scum! That's what you are, Sir Edwin. SCUM!
I raised my head to look at the boy whose delicate face was burnt. I turned to see the look of the person who ratted him out. He was shaking. I don't even bme him. I bme the warden, no... I bme the leaders for allowing this.
Sir Edwin walked out of the room snapping his fingers. As he snapped them the guards came and 'gently' dragged us away.
I was thrown into a dark room with the other sves. I couldn't see anything and I was exhausted. I sat down and hugged my knees.
Tears well up in my eyes. So this is it. I'm going to die a sve, alone, hungry, uncomfortable and afraid.
"We meet again"
I look up to see a pair of brown eyes although if you looked closely you could see a bit of blue at the outlines.
"Athen..."
I jumped up and hugged her. I'll try to make this work. Maybe I won't have to die alone.
