Chapter 18: 4 Words
The Emerald-fur bear's form suddenly reappeared. Instead of appearing behind Nitaan as before, it appeared directly above him in the sky.
Nitaan leaped forward the moment he sensed something moving above his head. Narrowly dodge the deadly claws from above.
The Emerald-fur bear crashed violently to the ground. However, the ground didn't collapse as it should have. Instead, the ground surfaces around it strangely rippled.
Mud pit!
The Emerald-fur bear used its Mud pit on the ground again. This time, it altered the effect, reducing the depth of the pit and expanding its area, creating a shallow mud pool extending several tens of meters.
As the weight of the Emerald-fur bear crashed down, the soft surface rippled violently, like a small boat in a storm.
Nitaan, within the range of the mud pit, lost his balance due to the rippling ground. He linked his feet to the ground to counter the effect.
Seizing this opportunity, the Emerald-fur bear lunged violently at Nitaan. It unleashed its gathered power, propelling itself forward at a speed faster than ever before.
Word of Power ‘Power Gathering’ allowed it to compress its power into one big move. To move this fast, it gathered its energy in its hind legs before unleashing a violent lunge.
Nitaan grabbed a small sphere in both hands, crushed it, and tossed it forcefully to the ground. A small cloud of smoke expanded, enveloping the area. Nitaan's body vanished like a mist.
The Emerald-fur bear remained unfazed. It focused on the smoke, observing any subtle movement within it. Having learned of Nitaan's abilities, it was determined to watch every movement carefully.
When it noticed something moving in the smoke, it lunged forward with incredible speed to end the fight but instead found only a thrown rock.
Nitaan's body suddenly reappeared beside the Emerald-fur bear. His body, even blurrier than before, makes it harder for The Emerald-fur bear to lock on to him.
Fade with a smoke bomb!
With support from a smoke bomb, Fade got a huge boost in its power. Resulting in Nitaan’s body becoming a blur like an illusion. Even with intense concentration, distinguishing what was being seen required even more focus.
Nitaan knew that sudden movements would create ripples in the smoke, making him easily observable. Therefore, he had Kiita, who was on the periphery, throw small stones into the smoke screen to distract the Emerald-fur bear. He himself moved slowly to do the pincer attack.
Nitaan lunged forward again, this time without his spear. When the Emerald-fur bear realized its mistake, Nitaan was already close. The bear thrashed around, but Nitaan clung tightly to its left shoulder.
Since Nitaan wasn't prepared to attack, leaping to cling to the large body of the Emerald-fur bear was far faster.
Nitaan's body moved weightlessly, swiftly ascending from the left shoulder to the bear's neck. He swung his body with full force, delivering a powerful kick to the knife hilt embedded in the Emerald-fur bear's left eye.
This attack was one of the kill plans Nitaan had devised!
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
With the Emerald-fur bear's tough fur and thick muscles, ordinary weapons were no threat to it. Only a high-level artifact could easily kill it.
Even his weighted spear might inflict some damage, but relying solely on that to kill it was a pipe dream. A few blows wouldn't be enough to end its life.
Finding high-level weapons or artifacts capable of killing Emerald-fur bear was impossible. They might not even exist in the Silalai town. Perhaps they existed in the hands of the town's lord or high-ranking individuals like Chief Singh, but such artifacts were extremely valuable and not easily obtained, only to be used in desperate situations to defend Silalai town.
Choosing to attack a vulnerable spot was a highly effective option, but in a real fight it would be extremely difficult. The Emerald-fur bear wasn't stupid. It would protect its weaknesses just like any other devil beast.
A long battle was an even more difficult option. Continuously inflicting wounds on the Emerald-fur bear until it was exhausted might only be feasible on paper. The Emerald-fur bear could escape whenever it felt it couldn't win, and Nitaan would have no way to stop it. Not to mention whether Nitaan and Kiita possessed enough stamina to pull off the plan.
Therefore, the most feasible plan was to attack an old wound!
The knife remained embedded in the Emerald-fur bear's left eye. Attacking this point would pierce the brain, inflicting a fatal wound. While difficult, overall it was easier than attacking other points, as the Emerald-fur bear's field of vision was limited to its right eye. The result would be worth the risk.
Understanding Nitaan's intention, the Emerald-fur bear violently thrashed around, hoping to dislodge Nitaan from its body. But Nitaan remained stubborn. The rest of his body was held in place by Link, forcefully restraining Nitaan's center of gravity.
Nitaan's leg slammed into the knife handle with pinpoint accuracy. The moment his leg touched the handle, the force transmitted back made Nitaan feel the knife plunge deeper. Before Nitaan was certain it had penetrated its brain, the Emerald-fur bear's body vanished again.
It reappeared not far from its previous location. It didn't choose to appear close to Nitaan for an opportunity to attack as before. It simply roared with furious pain. The roar echoed far and wide. Its body trembled, and it collapsed to the ground, thrashing wildly.
Even though it managed to shift its body in the final moments before death, the knife had plunged deeper, reopening old wounds and creating new ones.
While the blade hadn't yet pierced its brain and couldn't kill it, the unbearable pain assaulted it intensely.
Seeing the Emerald-fur bear collapse to the ground, its body convulsing wildly, Nitaan sighed softly.
So close! I have to waste more money again. Nitaan grumbled.
Nitaan reached for the spear again, but this time, a pair of yellow and black gloves appeared in his hand, their tips adorned with dark purple crystals. Electric currents flashed from his fingertips, flowing into the spear.
The spear in his hand levitated and then stopped midway between his two hands, which supported the top and bottom of the spear without touching it. Link was used between the spear and the gloves, holding it centered.
A flash of electricity linked to the spear's tip. Nitaan instantly activated his gloves. Two bolts of lightning from the gloves charge into the iron spear. The iron spear, receiving the electricity, began to react miraculously with the gloves. Become magnets with the same polarity, pushing each other away.
The spear began to spin slowly, at first just a few rounds per second. Its speed steadily increased, causing the spear to crackle. As its speed soared, a blinding flash of electricity erupted. The whole spear now shone brightly like a giant comet.
This was the finishing move Nitaan had prepared for the Emerald-fur bear!
Nitaan's biggest weakness was his lack of offensive capabilities. His Words of Power were all Support or Improvised-types. He lacked direct offensive Words of Power like the Emerald-fur bear’s ‘Power Gathering’ or the Elder Grai’s ‘Fire’.
If he doesn’t have one, then he will create one from what he has!
The wildly spinning spear trembled, shaking as if about to shatter. The electrical currents accelerated, creating a flash of light. Nitaan took a deep breath and then delicately controlled his Gravity, changing the angle so that it did not result in a spin but a direct push.
Whoosh!
The angle change results in the spear getting shot out with insane velocity. The azure spear sliced ??through the air at high speed, creating a scene like a comet streaking across the sky.
All of the preparation was for this moment. Nitaan needed a moment when the Emerald-fur bear was just frantically shifting its body so that it couldn’t teleport away in the next few seconds. The follow-up attack on the eye wound was to stun the Emerald-fur bear, rendering it unable to defend itself.
The electrically charged azure spear shot through the air at high speed, tearing apart the atmosphere and creating ripples. The faint flashes of lightning created electrical charges coursing through the air.
the Emerald-fur bear, having just noticed the smell of death, couldn't react in time. The lightning spear was now right in front of it. In that split second of life and death, the Emerald-fur bear struggled with one last effort.
It instantly transformed the ground beneath its feet into a muddy pit to burrow itself in. Yet only halfway in, the lightning spear trajectory changes slightly downwards.
Link!
The lightning spear pierced the Emerald-fur bear's head like an arrow through a straw dummy, exiting through the back of its head and continuing into its massive body. The spinning force hadn't yet subsided, propelling the spear through the body and violently embedding itself in a rock, creating a large crack etched into the charred shaft around its hilt.
Even after piercing the Emerald-fur bear's body, the lightning spear remained more than halfway embedded in the rock. When the spinning stopped, there was a deafening sound. The high-quality iron spear could no longer withstand the force, exploding into a pile of shattered wood and metal.
Nitaan had to pay 2000 Gaia for this high-quality and finely forged spear, yet it could not withstand the power of the spin and electrical charge, completely disintegrating into fragments after a single attack.
The embedded rock exploded from the accumulated pressure in the spear's shaft, creating a large hole in the massive boulder.
"I'll name it the Spinny Electromagnetic Drill Drill Spear!" Nitaan exclaimed.
