Chap 232: A frozen duel.

The smaller Yetis retreated immediately, I don’t know if out of fear, from their injuries, or because of orders from their leader. My four new friends are standing ready, preparing to attack me at any moment, and with my body covered in a stronger layer I no longer feel cold because of the Yeti leader’s ability.

The leader’s axe, originally golden, takes on a white tone around the edges, the blade feels sharper and judging by the chill down my back the cuts won’t be weak at all.

My body reacts by moving my neck, a pointed construct formed in front of me, it almost pierced my skull. That movement is what starts the battle, the leader charges toward me with his group following close behind.

“They’re four, this is unfair.” My shout gets no reaction, none of them slow down even a little.

I move one step to the side to avoid being attacked in sequence. The leader’s axe hits my sword, the blow doesn’t make me step back but it almost paralyzes my arm. I’m not the only one injured, he had a similar reaction. I pull my weapon back, and with a turn on my supporting foot and with the help of Gravity Burst I manage to defend the next strike.

The other two try to jump into the brawl and I don’t let them, I build several ice swords to try to keep them away from me as much as possible.

The leader swings his enormous axe several times, I stop each cut with my swords, I can feel a cold intent inside his weapon. My reinforcement feels deadlier because it uses death mana, his is colder and I don’t want to imagine the consequences if he manages to cut me.

His companion and the leader are now coordinating their blows, the difference between each attack is tiny, forcing me to stay in defensive mode the entire time. The others continue breaking my constructs from time to time, if I let them advance I will definitely be in a big problem against four versus one.

This Yeti leader is the cause of my situation, his offensive and defensive power is brutal, a single mistake could rip my arm off. The other problem is his shouting, he keeps yelling something to his companions, I don’t know if he is motivating or instructing them, but it is becoming annoying.

I’m slowly laying a trap for them, every time I get the chance to make a deep cut with my sword I end up pulling it back to avoid being hit at the same time. They don’t know about my life affinity, it will be one of my trump cards, I’ll use it at the exact moment to finish one of them.

I strike the leader’s axe with my left sword, my right sword flies toward his companion’s head, he blocks my strike too late. The weapons lose power as they collide and continue their path, my blade grazes his chest and his grazes my abdomen.

I hear a small sound from his mouth, the wounded Yeti steps back a moment later. “Cold.” The area where I was cut was starting to freeze, I stopped the spread of his ability with my Imra and Banner. If this cut almost froze my blood and the affected area, I don’t want to imagine what it would be like to receive one from the leader.

I move to full defense immediately, the leader, seeing me wounded, has taken the initiative to go crazy. I stop every cut with my swords, I retreat with each impact, not only because of his strength, I want to make him think he has the advantage.

The wounded Yeti joins him seconds later, after freezing everything my sword caused. Both become much more aggressive in their slashes, their movements becoming more lethal, neglecting their defense a little and only worrying about injuring me.

The other two continue fighting my Joyeuse, I’ve been able to injure them enough to force them into defense. I only managed that by spending a ridiculous amount of mana creating more constructs and increasing gravity a little, I still haven’t used its maximum power.

My preparations are ready, the two behind me, wounded and worried about my swords, are almost a meter away from each other with their backs guarded, they already learned the lesson of not being struck from behind. The other Yeti is also lowering his aggressiveness, he may have destroyed my Death Sharpness and closed the wound, but he is not healed.

I lower my body a little while injecting life mana without healing my wound for now, I find the perfect moment to go for the underling’s head. My right sword aims directly at his neck, the leader wants to stop me by cutting my left arm which is moving to intercept his sword.

My right sword meets a slight resistance before passing through the underling’s neck in a clean slash. My body, being in the air, loses a lot of mobility, the leader’s large axe deflects my other sword just half a second before it touches his companion’s neck and reaches my arm, I feel my armor stopping the blow a little.

The head of his underling flies away and at the same time my arm with my sword falls to the ground. When my feet touch the floor I move as fast as I can, managing to dodge being crushed by the next attack.

The Yeti leader looks at his companion, I can feel some sadness and guilt coming from his Imra. I stand up as fast as I can. My Imra, laws and Banner are fighting against the Yeti’s abilities, they are two and combined with multiple laws and his Banner.

That axe went through my tough armor like cotton, it froze my blood, muscle and bones on contact. My arm fell with a dull thud and at the same time I felt immense pain as the cold tried to take over my body, but finally a couple of seconds later I managed to control and break his ability.

The leader Yeti looks at me, I don’t see fear or fury in his eyes. His gaze is determined to keep fighting, he erased all traces of sadness.

I take a posture of attack, with only one arm I rush at him at full speed. Just centimeters before our weapons clash I disappear from his sight with my Dimensional Step and appear between the two Yetis who are fighting against my swords, they haven’t noticed my presence.

I don’t expect anything, my body is already moving. My sword pierces the head of one of them at the same time the sound of the leader’s axe reaches us, I pull it out fluidly to go for the other, a shout from the leader hits our ears, my horizontal slash from his head to his chest doesn’t stop, but it fails, the Yeti managed to move his body.

The severed arm falls to the ground, when he tries to react to move away from me he no longer has time. The pain stops his movements long enough to be pierced by all of my constructs from different directions. My gravity prison helped trap him, without using both abilities I wouldn’t have been able to pierce his body so easily.

“Now it’s just you and me.” I have spent a huge amount of mana to kill his three companions, my reserve is less than half. It’s a huge achievement considering the ridiculous amount of mana I have and them being only four grade 3 monsters.

The Yeti looks at my arm at his feet and looks at the space where it should be. “That? Don’t worry about it.” I heal the small cuts on my body and a new arm grows at an alarming speed, as if I had never lost it.

I look at the tattoo on my arm and a voice sounds in my head. “I only agreed to this ridiculous plan because it’s you… I’m sorry for not helping, I’ll get stronger as soon as we return, it’s time to take this seriously.” Glia has wanted to train for a while, she held back because she’s been tired after helping me with healing, my situation must have motivated her.

I call my other sword, extend my arm to catch it with my new hand. The leader shouts something, all the other Yetis who were watching run away quickly. Why did he do that? Don’t they want to help him? Why did he just chase them out?

I’m forced to get rid of all the questions floating in my head, I need to block the huge axe of my opponent with both arms. Does he want a man-to-man fight? I’ll give it to him.

All my abilities fall on him and his crash into me. My movements become a little clumsier as I feel the air and everything around me slowing down, his movements also become slower due to all the gravity pressing on his body.

Neither of us retreats, our weapons swing from side to side. His axe has begun releasing compressed mana and Imra with every cut, I’ve already received some slashes on my body that I have to fight to avoid being frozen.

The Yeti leader is not in a better position, several cuts have appeared on his white skin, dyeing it black and red. My weapon skill is far above his, I only receive one cut when he receives three or four.

His stamina drains little by little with each movement and slash, his blows becoming slower and slower as the minutes pass, but his spirit grows with every move. His eyes haven’t wavered for even a second, his will is like a fortress which I haven’t been able to break in these almost 5 minutes of battle.

I manage to find a slight pattern in his movements, I wait for the right moment. I block his axe and with a slight body movement I slip into his guard, my other sword feels a slight resistance in his defenses before tearing off one of his legs.

His body falls on his only remaining knee, his axe goes for me, I manage to step back just in time. When I cut the hand holding his axe I feel compressed ice mana flying toward me, I can’t dodge it not even with my movement ability. His last attack breaks my defenses and leaves a huge slash on my torso.

I do everything I can to recover, I inject death mana and use my laws to break his ability and life mana is already acting to heal my wound. I lift my eyes to see how he has not moved, his eyes no longer have the intention to fight.

“In the end I lost.” The monster’s deep voice sounds. “This is going to sound a little ridiculous to you. Could you help me with my vengeance against these people?” Vengeance? What is he talking about?
