Banishment

"Exposed?" Kaz parroted, his voice suddenly small.

He could see it now, the truth in the Virtues' auras. The wisdom in their gazes. The sheer…power they wielded. His own arrogance felt like a child trying to challenge a storm.

  Kaz tensed, his mind racing.

Could he really fight all seven of them at once?

Temperance's words echoed in his mind: It's about willpower.

He had more willpower than these angels put together! He had to!

"You're exposed!" Kaz roared, his aura surging like a collapsing star—wild, desperate.

"I don't need permission to win! I don't need balance or virtue or whatever cosmic junk you're peddling! I make my own rules!"

He thrust both hands forward, a vortex of black fire erupting toward Temperance and Diligence at the center.

But Kindness stepped in front of them, hands open, not in attack… but in acceptance.

And where dark flame met gentle light?

  It dissolved.

  Not repelled. Not shattered.

  Dissolved. Like smoke meeting dawn.

Kaz staggered back as if struck. “N-no—!”

Chastity raised a hand, and space itself tightened around him, suppressing his energy like chains made of silence.

Humility spoke next, soft but final:

"You fight not just us… but the truth you refuse to face."

"And that," Patience added coldly, stepping closer now with Charity at her side,

  "Is why you've already lost."

Kaz fought against the restraints put on him by Chastity, to no avail. But he also noticed that because of the restraints, the appearances of the angels surrounding him have also changed, with their robes covering up more of their skin than before.

Kaz scoffed weakly, sweat dripping down his face as he strained against the invisible force binding him.

"Wait… what—? Why're you all suddenly so modest?" he spat, voice trembling between rage and disbelief. "Did I accidentally activate the prudish protocol or something? What, my energy scare you that much you gotta—"

Chastity turned her gaze to him. Cold, serene, absolute.

"You stand in the presence of divine purity," she said simply. "And your corruption… agitates it."

As she spoke, her light intensified, and so did the others’. Their auras flared not in anger… but in rejection.

The more Kaz struggled...the tighter their power became.

Diligence stepped forward again, the air around her humming with finality.

"This isn’t about modesty," she corrected. "It’s about containment."

  Her eyes narrowed slightly.

"Your energy is unstable, not just dangerous to us...but to all creation. And we won’t let chaos fester under false pretenses of 'strength' or 'freedom'."

Kaz sneered through gritted teeth, his attention now on Chastity.

"So what, you're the censorship police, eh? What happened to your cleavages and shit??”

  Chastity held his gaze.

"I am the embodiment of Chastity," she replied softly. "And I've seen my share of lustful eyes and souls. I may be modest by nature, but I am also unwavering."

She closed her eyes—and Kaz felt the air thicken. A suffocating wave of purity washed over him—pure enough to make even the darkest heart squirm.

"You have been warned," she murmured. "Do not test my Chastity again."

"I test whatever the hell I want," Kaz shot back, reaching a hand towards Chastity's chest.

The moment Kaz reached for her, time itself seemed to freeze.

Chastity’s eyes snapped open—pale light blazing.

  “You dare?”

A single word, and the world shattered.

  Not physically, but spiritually.

From every Virtue, a wave of divine power erupted.

Chastity raised both hands, and an invisible force slammed into Kaz like a celestial hand from above.

His arm was thrown back as if burned by holy fire.

The air crackled with purity so intense it made his skin crawl, his very essence writhing under its weight.

“Your arrogance has no place here,” Chastity intoned, her voice echoing across dimensions. “You do not touch what is sacred.”

Kaz screamed in fury and humiliation as he was forced to his knees, the seven Virtues looming over him like stars crowning a collapsing universe.

“I am not some petty demon—!” he snarled through gritted teeth.

“No,” Diligence cut him off calmly. “You're even worse than a demon. You're a child who thinks rebellion makes him powerful. And you have no idea what true power looks like.”

"I refuse to be defeated by puritan angels who censor what I can see!”

The seven Virtues stood motionless—their auras now merged into a single, overwhelming pillar of light that rose through the crumbling mill and pierced the heavens.

Kaz knelt, trembling not from pain, but from power being ripped away.

“You think this is about censorship?” Chastity spoke, her voice gentle as wind through trees. “No…the purpose of your altered vision isn't to torment you.”

She stepped forward, eyes filled not with judgment, but sorrow.

“I cover because your gaze… seeks to consume. To reduce sacred things to mere spectacle.”

Kaz spat on the ground. "Sacred? Please! You're just scared I’ll expose how fake you all are!"

Kindness sighed—a sound like rain over dry earth.

“We aren't hiding power,” she said softly. “We are protecting it. And you—so desperate to break rules—never stop to ask why they exist.”

  Diligence raised her hand high.

  Stars dimmed above them.

“Enough debate,” she declared, and the world held its breath.

“Kaz… son of chaos… wielder of stolen fire… You have challenged divine order. You have mocked virtue and sought destruction in place of balance.”

Her voice boomed—not loud, but deep as time:

  "Now, you will face stillness."

Before Kaz could react, the circle closed around him.

Seven hands outstretched…and reality itself folded inward toward his soul…

This was power so far beyond anything Kaz had ever felt, like an ocean suddenly becoming a black hole. In that instant, he faced the sheer power of the Heavenly Virtues, and it shook him to his core.

“No! You don’t get it! I have more power than any of you! I can make my own rules—!"

  “Silence,” Diligence said coldly.

  "NO! Death to censorship!!!"

The Virtues didn't waver. Not one inch.

"You do not understand what your power costs, Kaz," Diligence continued. "You use chaos like a child, without thought or purpose. And without respect for what you're destroying."

The circle around Kaz now glowed like a miniature star, burning white-hot. He tried to fight, but his power was like a candle in a cosmic tempest.

"I'm not a child! I'm more powerful than any of you! I can do whatever the hell I want!" Kaz fired back as he desperately swatted at the divine hands around him.

The moment Kaz swatted at them, the divine circle tightened like a fist clenching around flame.

"You still don't get it," Temperance said, her voice calm but cutting. "Power isn't about what you can destroy. It's about what you choose not to."

A golden chain spiraled from Diligence’s hand, woven not of metal…but of time, memory, and consequence—and snapped around Kaz’s wrist.

He screamed as visions flooded his mind:

Entire worlds cracking apart because he'd unleashed forbidden magic.

Innocent lives erased in the wake of his rage.

Himself… standing atop ruins… screaming into silence.

"You see?" Humility whispered. "Your strength is built on broken things."

Kaz thrashed harder, "I don’t care! I’LL BREAK YOU TOO!"

But Chastity stepped forward, one hand gently brushing the air before him.

And where her fingers passed...reality stilled.

"No," she said softly. "You are silenced now."

A pulse radiated outward, and just like that…Kaz had no voice.

He opened his mouth; nothing came out but shadows unraveling into smoke.

The seven Virtues stood over him as he collapsed to all fours, the light consuming every flicker of defiance until only trembling remained...

"Let this be a lesson," Kindness said gently. "Not all who shine are weak."

"And not all who burn...are strong,” Humility added.

The silence that followed was profound. Kaz on his knees, voiceless, power dimmed to a flicker. The mill creaked around them like the world itself was catching its breath.

Diligence raised her hand once more, the golden chain tightening slightly around Kaz’s soul.

"You will not be destroyed," she said. "But you will be contained."

"Not forever," Kindness added softly. "Only until you learn to listen…instead of roar."

A portal shimmered into existence behind the Virtues; a radiant gate woven from light and stillness.

"Through there lies a realm beyond time," Diligence explained. "A place between moments, where lost souls reflect before returning."

Kaz glared up at them, mute but furious, eyes blazing with defiance even as tears of frustration streaked his face.

Temperance knelt before him—not as an enemy, but almost like a guardian—and gently placed one hand on his shoulder.

  "Come back wiser," she whispered.

And with that, the Seven Virtues pushed forward together...the light surged…and Kaz vanished into the portal...swallowed by quiet...by grace...by truth he could no longer escape.

The gate sealed shut behind him, with only echoes remaining in the broken mill.

Elara and the IOTA exchanged stunned glances in their hiding spot.

"He just got…canceled by angels?" Jax muttered.

"...Kinda beautiful though, nya,” Liana whispered.

Iritscen adjusted his glasses slowly: “Fascinating application of metaphysical virtue dynamics…”

Elara exhaled sharply, her heart pounding as she realized:

They weren’t just fighting demons and tyrants anymore…

  They were walking through legends.

"Yeah..." Elara murmured, still staring at where the light had vanished. "Legends that don't play nice."

She turned to the IOTA, her expression hardening with resolve. "But that's exactly why we have to keep moving. If Kaz—someone who thought he was untouchable—just got silenced by virtue itself...then Gabrielle? The rest of the Cabal?"

  Her voice dropped low.

"...She’s playing a much deeper game than we thought."

Jax tilted his head, amber eyes glowing behind the mask. "Why, though? Why would she risk awakening forces like that?"

"Maybe she already has," Charlotte chimed in softly, checking a pocket watch no one remembered her having. "Time's been…twitching since they fought. But Elara...what are you gonna do about Gabrielle? You're still going after her, right?"

"Of course I am," Elara replied firmly. "I had no time to get the answers I wanted, and I don't like the attitude she gave me back there. I still have the tether connected to her, and she doesn't seem to be moving around much. She must be planning."

  A beat passed.

Then Antiquus grunted from above: "Then enough talkin’. We’ve got a target to reach before another divine intervention drops on our heads.”

Elara nodded sharply. “Right. Mount up.”

As they scrambled onto Antiquus’ back once more, the air was still humming with residual holiness. The truth settled over them like frost:

This wasn’t just a mission anymore.

It was a reckoning in motion…

  And Gabrielle?

She was waiting at its center like a spider in silk made of lies and centuries.

  Flight path: set.

  Fate: accelerating.

They soared into the storm-laced sky, silhouettes against lightning, as time held its breath…
