Chapter 10: The Great Caffeine Discovery

Elanore looked at the tired wyvern with sleepy morning eyes. “Did you have a good sleep?”

“It’s hard to say. I had a strange dream, and then when I woke up, the reality is even stranger. Who is this floating pot?”

Ella gestured to the cauldron and grinned. “This is a life form that was created by my very own hands. He will serve as my trusty cauldron, and his name is Pot.”

Naela tilted her head and placed a finger on her chin, looking over the cauldron with wander. “Is that so?”

Pot tilted forwards and back, nodding. “It is so. Underneath our mistress we are both servants. Nonetheless, it is nice to meet you, Naela.”

“Whoa! You can talk! And you know my name.” The wyvern’s tail wagged, and she turned to start at Elanore. “How does this guy know my name already?”

The vampire witch shook her head. “I have no idea how that happened. I don’t even remember telling him your name.”

Pot flapped his wings several times, gathering both of the girls’ attention. “The reasoning is simple. It’s all apart of our mistress’s taming skill. The moment that I was born, I gained the class called [Servant]. I am sure you have it, Lady Naela.”

Elanore’s eyes widened. She did remember such a class. This time, the vampire performed an inspection on Naela’s class.

I see now, this class has the passive effect of allowing the servants to know each others names if they focus on them.

Naela seemed confused and tilted her head. “How would I even use the class?”

“Wait, you don’t have the ability to view your own information?”

The wyvern girl shook her head. “It’s not a very common ability. Not everyone has the ability to perform [Inspect]. I remember the wizard had such an ability, but he said it wasn’t very common in the human cities either.”

“Huh, you learn something new every day…” The vampire paused and looked to the pile of orbs. “More importantly, I need to see what kind of mixture I can make with these.”

Elanore walked to the pile and picked out the largest one she could find. [Inspect].

“No way, a bullish monster dinosaur? And it’s red? Is this a coincidence?” The vampire’s eyes sparkled.

Naela just stared at her with a tilt of her head. “Mistress, I have no idea what you could be thinking about, but I am starving. Would you allow me to perform a morning hunt?”

“Are you sure you don’t want to try an energy drink?”

The wyvern girl shook her head. “I have no idea what that is, and if I stay here, I will only grow hungrier. I can’t imagine that the inside of those will taste good at all. I prefer more carnal desires like feasting on the flesh of my prey.”

“Alright then, you can go for a hunt, but you better stay safe and come back. I want to head out of here the moment I finish mixing some of these. I have a world to explore with my overpowered character, and I don’t want to waste a single second.”

The wyvern rolled her eyes and stepped away, performing her transformation. She flapped her wings and took off away from the cave.

This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.

Elanore watched her leave with an exaggerated sigh. “They grow up so quickly. One second, they are bowing and prostrating in order to save their skin. The next second, they entered a rebellious phase and took off from their mother like a disobedient child.”

Rather than lingering on that thought she focused once more on the mana orb in front of her. She took a deep breath before sinking her teeth into the crystal, and the juices poured on her tongue.

At first it was slightly bubbly, but the next moment, she felt the familiar rush that she was used to. “There is no fucking way! Did I already discover the energy drink flavoring? Can this really be what I think it is? Is this a caffeine!?”

She chugged the entire thing down, and her senses went on full alert. Her leg started tapping on the cave ground, and she felt a wealth of energy entering into her body.

“It is! I have stricken gold!” She whipped around and grabbed her cauldron by the rim. “Do you have any idea what this is!? We are going to be rich, Potty! We will make a fortune, and best of all, I will have the apple of my eye! Ah, I need more flavors. I need more possibilities…”

She tried to calm herself when she noticed that Pot looked to be in immense pain. Despite the fact he was supposed to be indestructible. It seemed that her grip did a number on him. He was squinting his poor little eye and grunting.

When she finally released him, he sighed in relief. “Thank you, mistress. Please, calm your excitement when you grab onto me. I thought that I was going to break for sure.”

Elanore took a few deep breaths and closed her eyes, letting the calm settle over her. “You are right. I am sorry. I was so excited that I nearly had a heart attack...Again! Only this time, I don’t feel like my heart is attacking, I feel like I am defended from the attack by tiny little angels.”

“You are being defended by angels, mistress? What do you mean? Where are they?”

“You silly little thing. They aren’t real. Though...In keeping with my aesthetic, I really should have said bats. Either way, I have the formula that I always needed. Come over here Pot.”

The Pot obeyed and flew closer.

Elanore grinned. “I will be pouring this juice inside of your bowl if that’s okay.”

“I do not mind, mistress. That is my purpose, after all.”

She nodded and poured the rest of the punctured carno core inside. Now, I just need a good flavor to go with this. It’s crazy that the red bullish creature is the one that gives me caffeine. Are there other caffeine creatures?

Elanore vowed that when Naela got back she would question the wyvern about how she even managed to get a carno. The vampire didn’t see any desert place while she was flying around.

She shrugged and started testing the flavors of other stones. First it was the old and familiar [Dire Bear], and then it was a new creature altogether.

  [Inspect]

Ooh, this one tastes like green apple. This is totally what I will use in my first mixture. As for the rest of these cores, I can always store them in my inventory and bring them with me.

As if driven by the thought of leaving again, the wyvern arrived with a new and fresh kill in her maw. She dropped it onto the floor with a loud thud.

Elanore was stunned. She’d seen a dinosaur, and she’d seen the mana core of a caffeine dinosaur. Yet, for some reason, she didn’t expect to see a woolly mammoth.

Though, the vampire witch didn’t have time to be stunned. Instead, she poured the green apple drink into the cauldron and started mixing them with her ladle. The mana syrup mixed together in a bubbly goodness, and Elanore cast a fire spell inside to heat the blend.

With a bubbly pot and a ladle at her ready, she had all the ingredients needed to be a proper witch. She even had the grand hat to top it off. She gripped the rim of her hat while she stirred, and when she thought the mixture was sufficiently intertwined, she lifted it up to her mouth.

Her eyes widened, and her brain stopped working momentarily due to shock. Green Apple energy drink! From a red, bullish dinosaur!

“Naela! Stop what you are doing right away! Get over here and taste this!”

The wyvern jumped in shock, not expecting the vampire to call on her while she was eating. She performed her transformation, blood dripping down her chin from the meal.

Elanore cast a cleansing spell on the wyvern’s mouth before she arrived. “Seriously? Were you raised in a barn? You cannot come over here and drip blood into pot. You will ruin the entire mixture.”

Naela frowned. “I don’t understand what you want me for when I am eating anyway. I get grumpy whenever I don’t have food for a long time, mistress.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Elanore said. A devious smirk appeared on her face, and she shoved the ladle into Naela’s opened mouth.

  “What are you…”

The vampire’s trick worked. She watched as the wyvern’s expression went from shock and agitation to one of excitement. The tail behind Naela started waving back and fourth.

“I told you! This is the divine formula! This is what this world needed! It’s what every world needs! Energy drinks!”
