I guess that’s it, huh? Nothing I can do about it right now, and no point in complaining about things that cannot be changed.
…But I will complain about something else.
“WHY THE HELL ARE THERE TWO MOONS IN THE SKY—AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHY WAS I REINCARNATED AT NIGHT!?”
My voice tore through the forest.
The forest answered back, with an echo of my screech and then ~ silenceee.
A redwood forest, by the way.
I feel like that’s worth mentioning, because—damn—it was beautiful. The trees towered endlessly into the sky, their trunks thick and ancient, and the air was so clean it almost hurt to breathe. I would tell you more, but it was dark and the moonlight didn't help that much—also, I was not blessed with the Night Vision skill yet.
Maybe novel authors should add this to their Isekai Starter Kits more often, it would be a huge help right now.
"<(?? _?)> naaaito vizzzon naow!"
It was a pretty cool spot to dream about a farm house with warm lights and outdoor chairs in which I'd be relaxing. The kind of chairs that swing slowly back and forth, usually owned by old people in cartoons.
Unfortunately, this was not the place, to stand idle with my mouth hanging open in awe.
The night was dangerous after all, and time was not on my side—especially since some idiot had screamed at the top of his lungs the moment he stared int—
…Wait.
Riiight.
She...
Some idiot had screamed at the top of her lungs the moment she stared into the skies.
“Should probably get used to this,” I whispered to myself. “Otherwise, when I encounter civilization, I’ll end up labeled as a creep…"
I shook my head and pulled my focus back to what mattered.
“Hm. I need something useful right now,” I muttered, eyes diving back into the stat window.
I was as quiet as possible this time.
One scream is excusable.
Twice is how you become a forest corpse...
"Ah… ah… achoo!"
The temperature was dropping, I could feel it now. The cold crept through my clothes, brushing against skin that was built for hugs, not for rugged survival.
I needed to do something about my situation, but most of my skills were useless in the dark.
[Converse]?
No one to talk to.
[Appraisal]?
Hard to appraise what you can’t see.
[Morph]?
I don't really wanna think about it...
My best bet was the [Dice Throw] skill, however, there was just one teeny-weeny issue:
I had no points in it.
Zero!
Nothing!
Nada!
Nienete!
Nimica!
No stats. No equipment...
"Hmm..."
But magic existed, right?
I had that [Arcana] tab, but... There was nothing in it yet.
I needed something simple.
Something warm.
Something like uh...
“ A fireba—”
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
DING!
I jerked, then froze.
Only I could see and hear my stat-system, but I didn't know such information at that time yet.
And in nightly silence of a forest?
It felt like a gunshot.

…
I blinked.
"Huh?"
That’s it?
No chanting?
No prayer?
No ritual?
I just say the word and it installs?
Is it knowledge-based?
I stared at the notification.
…That was surprisingly easy, but unusable... for now.
A level 1 fireball wasn’t going to save me if something like a bear—say, level 10 or higher—decided I looked tasty.
So I did what any sane person would do—came up with a plan!
Eh, more like—an idea.
An idea that began with me, gathering rocks!
I used my hands and slowly oriented myself around, searching for tiny boulders, shaped like spheres. No pickiness here, but I set my standards to those that were at least 20cm across. I built with them a little circle—primitive, but serviceable.
After I wasted a good minute to pat myself on the back, I immediately dove into the next problem;
Twigs.
Dry leaves.
Flammables...
The moonlight guided my senses just enough to find those stones, but now?
Now I was looking for small items which could easily fit in my palm, even in high quantities.
To top it off, it got so dark I could barely to see my own hands.
I squinted, scanning the forest floor.
"Nothing."
I was officially in a pickle.
Then… inspiration struck again!
“If I throw a fireball into the sky,” I whispered, “the light should help me see, right?”
Seemed logical enough.
So I did it.
I chirped the word Fireball—because screaming alone in a forest at night is how true-crime stories begin, and a spark of fire shot from my fingertip.
Fast.
It wasn’t a slow, glowing orb like I expected—it was more like a bullet of flame, small and precise, streaking upward and vanishing into the darkness as soon as it crossed the leaf crowns.
Probably great for combat, but useless for illumination.
I pouted.
Then promptly threw myself onto a fallen tree, snapping it cleanly in half and slumping down between the pieces.
“Haaaa…” I sighed.
“If only I’d wished for a lighter instead of a girlfriend…”
And that was when the stat window chimed again.

【Torch】
Lv. 1
? ? ?
“Huh?”
I stared at the notification, genuinely dumbfounded, ignoring all of the spell's details for some reason.
"T-torch?"
What kind of skill was that supposed to be?
I didn't really have luxury of choice or time so I had to test it—better than standing around in the dark, questioning my life decisions.
So… another chirp.
My third one for the night, and you know exactly why.
“Torch.”
Just like the Fireball, the spell formed at my fingertip—but this time, instead of a violent burst, a tiny flame flickered into existence.
It burned shyly.
Steady.
Calm.
Almost like it was afraid of being noticed.
That was… actually useful?
"Hmm?"
Yeah, useful for exactly two minutes!

Three seconds later—

“…Oh no.”
I immediately started a speedrun to gather anything remotely flammable: Leaves. Twigs. Bark.
I scooped up everything I could find and dumped 'em all into the stone circle as fast as humanly possible.
Thankfully, I’d cast the spell with my left hand. I was right-handed, and trying to gather forest debris while my dominant hand is busy holding an illumination spell would’ve been absolute hell. I wasn’t about to make things harder than they already were.
By the time I had a decent pile ready, another problem revealed itself.
Of course it did.
I glanced at my stat window.
Mana: 0 / 10
Mana Regen: 1 / Min
“…You’ve got to... be... kidding me.”
I paused for a moment—getting hit by a headache, which I assumed was caused by my mana reaching 0—just long enough to stare up at the twin moons' sparkle, letting the regen do its job.
"Man, the moon is spinning beautifully..."
(The moons were, in fact, not spinning at all!)
Mana: 5 / 10
Mana Regen: 1 / minute
As soon as the magical essence was above 1, the moons stopped rolling and the brain-pain was gone.
I wasn't going to let the night win! I was also looking forward to get rid of the cold atmosphere too!
So I aimed carefully.
Whispered the spell.
"Fireball"
And shot it straight into the heart of the campfire.
After one loud scream, several controlled chirps, and a lotta trial-and-error—
The blaze took form!
Warmth spread through the clearing.
Shadows retreated.
Light, actual real light, filled the space, surveilling the surroundings as I finally lowered my guard.
I slumped back, staring into the flames with a proud smile.
At long last;
"Some warm company!"
