Chapter 9: The First Day

All the new and old students were standing in the main field of the academy. All of them were dressed in black and bronze marbled tunics with their hands by the back. Students who had long hair had their hair tied in a bun. The new students were standing in one part of the field since they were in large numbers because the first heirs of the royal families had to attend the academy. All the students were facing the lowest hill where the main entrance to the academy was.

Two tall tiffany doors opened slowly, revealing a couple of faces. They were dressed in the same colour which was the black while they had different coloured stripes marbling on their tunics. The different coloured marbled stripes were also an indication on which classroom building belonged to. In front of the senior investigators was Shilin who was dressed in a different uniform. As a headmaster, there wasn't a uniform required. The investigators stopped by the lowest hill and their main focus went on the new faces.

“Welcome to The Investigator’s Academy. I trust you had a wonderful long holiday. Today, we got many new faces in the academy. Please welcome the first year students and make them feel welcome into the academy, understood?”, he asked clearly.

“Yes, your majesty.”, the older students acknowledged.

He was happy to hear that. “First year students, you’ll be receiving The Book of the Thousand Rules. Make sure that you go through every single rule, including their definition. Fail to follow the rules, you’ll be expelled immediately. Please read all the rules. If you need any help with anything, feel free to ask me only.”, he said firmly.

Some of the new students found it straight that they could only ask Shilin instead of the senior investigators. Most of the time, Shilin would be focusing on the emperor's work and academy’s work, so it was better to ask help from the senior or junior investigators.

“We got one additional senior investigator joining our academy. Please welcome Xiao Haoran Chaoxiang, he’ll be the head of physician investigator. I’m sure most of the older students remember him.”, Shilin introduced Haoran who was standing right behind him.

Haoran came out of the line to show his face to the students. Most of the third last to the final year students immediately remembered him since he taught them before he left. They were so excited to see him again that the other students could hear the tone of their excitement.

Everyone started clapping loudly to welcome Haoran into the academy. “Please make Mr Xiao feel welcomed into the family again.”, Shilin looked back at the students. “To the older students, you must go through The Book of the Thousand Rules because we added new rules in the book. Today, your lesson will start at exactly eight o’clock, don’t be late for your first lesson. For the first year students, please remain where you’re standing to receive your Book of the Thousand Rules.”, he instructed them. “The rest of the students, you’ll head to your first lessons. The assembly is over.”, he said.

The senior investigators and the older students were heading to the buildings. While the junior investigators and new students remained on the field. The junior investigators appeared by the field with two books each to give out to the students. The investigators appeared with the students and handed one book to each student. When the first student took the book, he nearly dropped it to the ground.

“Yikes, why is it so heavy?”, he asked.

The other students also took the books, almost dropping the books down as well. Already, the junior investigators weren’t impressed with the new students. Once all the students received their books, they were heading to their first lessons. The upper class and lower class students were separate and had their own classes.

Students were standing in between two tall white and blue glassed buildings which were called Ice Crystal Palace. They were waiting patiently for their investigators to open the door. It wasn’t for long when one door opened by them and a beautiful young woman appeared.

“Welcome first year students. I’m Lisa Crystal. Please come in.”, she walked back into the room.

While the students were walking, they could hear the upper class students laughing at them. They were making fun of the lower class students due to their poor backgrounds. Lithanya appeared at the back to make her people avoid those other students which caused them to stop laughing. The upper class students were terrified of Lithanya and Yaithra due to their powerful fighting techniques and being the strongest people in the four worlds. Not to mention that Lithanya could after them if they mess with lower class people. No one dared to lay their hands on the Vacanta people due to their strengths.

All the lower students came inside the massive ice-crystal palace. Their jaws dropped while they were looking at the beautiful iced building. Everything was looking like an ice queen palace with decorative snowflakes hanging on the ceilings. The sunlight was making every single part of the building shine and sparkle.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Suddenly, some of the students were rubbing their arms since it was extremely cold. Lisa turned around and faced the students with a bright smile.

“Students, please stand in the centre of the room.”, she instructed and the students acknowledged. “Today, you’ll be standing in one spot to see how your bodies handle the extreme cold without moving. Every half an hour, I’ll be decreasing the temperature.”, she said with a straight face.

The students didn’t like the sound of that all or that their first lesson was going to start off being hectic. Already the students were starting to feel the coldness where their legs couldn’t stand anymore. A few students collapsed and went unconscious which made the other students concerned. Lisa immediately removed those unconscious students out of the way by using magic then placed them by a warm corner.

After fifteen minutes, all the students were lying in the warm corner, unconscious. Lisa wasn’t impressed that they didn’t last for half an hour. But she wasn’t expecting much from them because she knew they came from hot environments. Their bodies weren’t used to the cold harsh weather.

“Right, your homework is to spend half an hour in this building, standing in the extreme cold without moving or collapsing. I’ll be here at six o’clock tonight, no excuses.”, she said firmly. “Class is over.”, she said with disappointment.

The students were gradually getting up and walking to the door with some disappointment. When the student came out of the building, they noticed the other students coming out of the building with full disappointment, worse than the students coming out of the Ice Crystal Palace. Lithanya came out of the building and noticed her companions looking at the other students. She was stunned that the other students were more disappointed than her companions.

“I wasn’t expecting that.”, she mentioned.

“None of us did.”, Jullien answered.

Lisa came out of the building. “Also, start learning the first ten pages of your textbook. At the end of the week, I’ll be testing you.”, she reminded them.

The students sighed with more disappointment because they were hoping that Lisa wouldn’t remember. All the students came out of the building and were heading to their next lesson, Potions.

One junior investigator appeared. “Princess Lithanya?”, he asked.

  She glanced at him. “Yes.”

“Mr Xiao wants to see you in his office now.”, he said firmly.

Her companions turned to her with confusion, just like her. “Okay.”

Rosalina came to her. “I’ll let you know what happens in the potion class.”, she said.

Lithanya felt really touched by that. Everyone went to their next lesson while Lithanya was heading to Haoran’s office. She was so nervous because she had never met Haoran before.

Haoran was in his massive royal green office, looking at the books that he would be using in his lessons. Someone knocked gently on the door.

“Come in.”, he answered with a deep voice.

The door opened slowly and Lithanya walked through the small gap. “Good morning, Mr Xiao. You said that you wanted to see me.”

He stared at her. “Yes. Emperor Huang told me that you have a history of having an illness. He instructed me to do a check-up on you regularly.”

“Uhmmm…the physician who treated me told me that the illness won’t come back.”, she clarified.

He had a small smile. “As a physician, I can tell you that the chance of that illness coming back is really high. I would rather do regular check-ups on you to prevent the illness from coming back.”, he explained.

She nodded. “What if I’m on supplements do I still need to come for a check-up?”, she asked politely.

“Yes.”, he answered firmly. “Please, have a seat.”, he picked a tiny dagger.

Tension appeared in her body when she saw the dagger because she didn’t like taking out blood. She walked further into the room with her hands together. She gently took her seat then waited patiently for Haoran. Haoran grabbed the chair, faced it towards Lithanya then he sat down. He immediately took Lithanya’s right hand and he felt the slight trembling.

“You don’t like drawing out blood?”, he asked.

She took a deep breath. “Not really.”, she answered honestly.

He poked a small wound quickly which Lithanya didn’t see coming. He placed her index finger by a small clear bowl that was filled with clear liquid. He pinched her finger to draw a few drops of blood in the liquid. Surprisingly, Lithanya wasn’t feeling any pain while Haoran was taking out blood from her finger. When the first drop of blood landed, the liquid turned dark red which made Haoran concerned.

“It seems like you haven’t been taking your supplements.”, he took a small cloth and wiped the blood off her finger. She didn’t answer in a hurry. “Tell me, why aren’t you taking your supplements?”, he asked firmly.

She tried to come up with an excuse that was convincing. “I forgot to take them today because everything was a rush.”

He raised a brow. “The liquid tells me that you haven’t been taking them for almost ten years.”

She remained calm with her body straightened. “I’ve been busy dealing with some future empress work…”

“That’s also not an excuse to not take your supplements. Next week, I’ll be doing another check. If I found out again that you aren’t taking your supplements, I’m going to prescribe stronger medicine for you. And you don’t want that, do you?”, he raised a brow.

“No, thank you. I’ll take my supplements from today.”, she was being dead serious.

He wasn’t convinced yet. “Okay, we shall see in a week. But I’m going to be really strict next time if I find out that you still aren’t taking your supplements.”, he reminded her.

She nodded while getting up because she needed to go back for her second lesson. “It was nice meeting you, Mr Huang.”

“You too, your majesty.”, he said. “You may go.”

Lithanya nodded then walked to the door with her hands together. Haoran watched her walking away while wiping the blood off the dagger.
