Chapter 14: The Spar of Shame

The final test: a friendly spar to show off the new "body" and "technique."

I was matched against my fourth brother, Lu Chenyi. He was a strategic genius with a Void Emperor Body.

"Don't hold back, Little Brother!" Chenyi said, smiling. He then leaned in and whispered, "If you beat me, I’ll tell Father I’m too traumatized to rule. Please. Just hit me."

I’ll hit you, alright! I thought. I’ll hit you so soft that the judges will call me a weakling!

The spar began. Chenyi lunged with a High-Grade Spirit Sword. I used my Basic Breathing technique to move slightly to the left.

I intended to "trip" and fall over. But as I moved, my Origin Dao Body (which I was currently trying to ignore) reacted to the Space around me. Instead of tripping, I accidentally performed a Perfect Mastery level spatial shift.

I appeared behind Chenyi. I panicked and tried to gently push him away so I could run away.

But my "gentle push" was fueled by the Primordial Chaos Qi I was trying to suppress.

  BOOM.

Chenyi was sent flying across the arena, crashing through a Heaven-Grade defensive formation and landing in the koi pond.

  The audience went silent.

"A strike without a weapon!" a General yelled. "He used the Basic Breathing technique to launch a shockwave! He has reached Perfection Level in ten seconds!"

Chenyi climbed out of the pond, soaking wet but grinning like a maniac. "I lost! I’m totally incompetent! Xian-er is the clear winner! The throne is his!"

I looked at my hands. I looked at the Emperor, who was now openly laughing with his wives. I looked at the crowd.

I am a dog, I thought. A dog in a golden cage. And my siblings are the ones locking the door.
