Main Wing
Veronique found herself headed towards one of the myriad rooms in the Main Wing, just the fact this skill thing took place here was a statement on how important it was.
Yet the room itself was basically bare, it had no furniture, the floor was in darked green marbled tiles while the walls were large gray marbled ones with small light green specks.
A woman was already waiting for them there in the middle of it, her skin tone was the darkest Veronique had seen in this world, yet it wouldn’t be that dark in hers.
She was dressed in a formal silver suit with golden buttons and trimmings, the jacket was one of those with slightly pointy shoulder pads and the long kind that ended up with two longer pieces of fabric trailing behind in a V shape, a long neck white blouse with frills peaked from underneath it and on her chest was the crest associated with the Lorens.
The stylized head of a tiger, body in silver, strips in gold all encased in a thin black stone.
“Madame Luise, it’s an honor to meet you” Miss Hawkings greeted the woman
“Likewise, I see this time Lady Veronique has blessed us with her presence” the hostile tone of the woman made the redhead mentally groan, a deep sense of anger immediately getting to the forefront of her mind
‘What the fuck did I do this time?’ Veronique was getting tired of meeting people that had a bone to pick with her for shit she technically didn’t even do herself, she had to bite her lips to not outright start yelling and cause a scene
“Lady Veronique didn’t show up last time?” Miss Hawkings inquired, giving a side glance to the redhead
“I am afraid not” Madame Luise had said, displeasure clear in her voice “I wasn’t even given an explanation of her absence”
“Lady Veronique do you even remember this?” Miss Hawkings inquired staring down at her
“…maybe?” she had no idea on what to say, since she had no way of knowing what she actually did in that circumstance.
She doubted she would even know even if she actually read the novel, since it didn’t seem like the sort of thing that would ever be written down.
“And I am supposed to believe such thing?” Madame Luise wasn’t amused and seemed quite irked off “I won’t stand for flimsy excuses”
‘What was her problem?!’ Veronique didn’t understand why this woman was so hostile to her, it seemed a bit overkill if all she did was stood her up once.

“Stop being mean to my sister” Rhea suddenly said and caused a tense silence to fall over the room, Veronique herself was left speechless
‘Shit I can’t let Rhea’s reputation sink because of me’ she thought gritting her teeth
“My apologies Madame Luise, I have been immature and irresponsible” Veronique had said with low bow, at which the child looked at her with a frown
“Very well…Lady Rhea, please come forward and stand before me” Madame Luise had declared with a fake smile, utterly ignoring Veronique’s apology and on top of it insulting her by picking the youngest to go first.
Rhea was still a child so she was easily fooled by the smile and it wasn’t unusual for her to be picked first over her elder sister, which meant the insult went over her head.
Miss Hawkings’s face was unreadable but she no doubt was fully aware of it, while Veronique, well Veronique was just glad the scorn was back on her and Rhea’s outburst went unnoticed
“What do I do?” Rhea asked innocently at that Madame Luise brought her hands together in a prayer position then held them forward and opened them keeping the thumbs connected as if they were a hinge a green energy engulfed them till she brought her hands apart till they were parallel with her shoulders, the energy stretched with the movement and focused ahead concentrating in a small ball from which four glowing green symbols erupted.
A point, a line, a circle and a square.
‘What the fuck am I looking at…the power of gaming?’ Veronique thought immediately associating them with the ones on a controller even if they weren’t exactly the same and for a moment she even thought she saw another among them.
The symbols swirled around Rhea getting closer till they touched her then they exploded out ways and a floating screen could be seen projected to the ceiling.
“This is quite a normal result” Madame Luise commented upon seeing it
‘There is no doubt…it’s status window’ Veronique thought but wasn’t that surprised after all it was a common troupe to put in videogame mechanics…however she didn’t think this was that kind of story as it had hit her as one of those pseudo historical romance types ‘maybe the author just put it in because it was easier over making a whole magic system’ she reasoned then frowned as she looked down at it right after stats.
All the text was written in some unknown alphabet making it unreadable to her
“Lady Rhea got an affinity with wind and a passive skill improving her luck” Madame Luise declared
‘Of course she got plot armor, she’s the main character’ Veronique had stop herself from laughing at the thought
“I got no water skill?” Rhea’s disappointment was clear in her voice
“Fear not Lady Rhea you can still learn some” Miss Hawkings tried to cheer her up
“Please remember to keep to the basic ones, I would hate for one of the two suitable heirs of the Aurelia to end up to front lines” Madame Luise warned
“Of course we will keep to the basic ones, even Alexander didn’t dare to pursue more” Miss Hawkings was quick to declare at which Veronique frowned
“Wait so let me get this straight, we are all still struggling to gain back land, but those that have all the means gain all the fighting skills necessary to make an impact are choosing to sit on their ass to avoid fighting and leave it all out to commoners?” the enraged words left her before she could stop them.
