Right now, Miri and Anne were at a standoff with the chimeragon in front of them. It was at this moment where Miri was able to get a clear look at the creature’s stats.
Chimeragon
Level: 17
HP: 213/213
Shit! This thing is level 17?! Miri thought with fearful panic. I’m only level 5! This thing is more than 10 levels above me!
Back when Miri was playing the game version of “Runehunter Chronicles”, she would occasionally challenge herself by taking on enemies who were way above her level. After plenty of practice, she was able to defeat enemies up to 10 levels above her, but never any higher. Fighting an enemy 12 levels above her was pushing way beyond her limit, not to mention that she wasn’t even equipped with the best gear available due to lack of money, just a couple of spells scavenged from around.
With an overpowered enemy and a sub-optimal build, this was going to be a tough battle to beat. Even though she knew going in that it was going to be difficult, seeing the monster right in front of her somehow made it feel more real.
Right at that moment, Miri’s mind went into overdrive, trying to take in all the information available to her in order to come up with the best possible strategy within the span of a few seconds.
At the moment, Miri’s best escape option was Traversing Wind. However, she cannot simply teleport out of there as she needed line-of-sight to the location she wanted to teleport to. With the two exits behind her sealed off, the only other choice left was to go through the exit directly behind the Chimeragon, the door where they all entered the library from.

However, due to the proximity of the chimeragon to the door, there’s a chance that the creature might turn around and attack them as soon as they exit the teleport. When it came to Traversing Wind, there’s a brief delay between each teleport—about 1 to 2 seconds—which was probably enough for the creature to take a swipe at them with its massive, deadly claws.
Even though the exiting of the teleport creates a brief but strong whirlwind at the location that pushes enemies away slightly, it might not be enough to even stagger such a large beast. It’s just too much of a risk. She’d have to wait for just the right moment for the beast to move away from the door so they could make an escape unhindered.
Right as Miri was formulating a strategy in her head, the chimeragon began bracing itself into a steady quadrupedal position, elemental energy gushing out of the mouths of its three heads—red fire from the dragon’s mouth, yellow lightning from the lion’s mouth, blue ice from the goat’s mouth. From the looks of it, it seemed to be charging up for a powerful elemental blast of some kind, one that simultaneously utilizes all three elements in one attack.
“Anne, ward up!” Miri quickly ordered.
Following the order, Anne quickly formed her Protective Ward right in front of them, right as the chimeragon unleashed the elemental energy from all three of its mouths into a single tri-elemental blast that slammed into the ward with tremendous force. Fire, lightning, and ice all pressed against the ward in a steady, continuous stream—threatening to whittle its defenses down little by little as webs of cracks started to form on its surface.
However, Miri was not going to wait for the ward to be whittled down. Right as the cleric was defending both of them against the tri-elemental blast, the mage began casting her most powerful spell yet.
“Meteor Impact!” Miri called out, summoning a large meteor that began descending down onto the chimeragon.
