Chapter 29

From one problem to another, this one with more fangs and wings then the existential horrors of the other problem. It is something I have to live with though, since I am sort of, kind of, the vassal of this dragon dungeon. Makes sense that they would send someone to check up on me, though I was hoping for the more well spoken dragon then these…..temperamental and annoying Wyverns.

“you should be happy the master has sent us to teach you.” Gods give me strength this is going to be very annoying. I poke around and stare at these creatures to judge their strength. They are strong but, well, nowhere near as tough as I would assume from a dungeon all about strength. That is if that is what I got off the dragon at least, since she gave the idea of unending strength. But these ones, they seemed strong but, well. I poke my creations, specifically the knight heir and the guardian crawler, having the two begin to move towards the Wyverns, one with more grumbling then the other. That’s fine, I don’t want to cause too much trouble but I make sure he knows what is happening and he seems to pick up the pace. Interesting.

“so what is this, your only monster, your boss, must be rather simple to get through it all.” Oh gods this fucker is going to absolutely get on my nerves. I hope that they either shut up or leave but I have a feeling they aren’t going to do anything but bother me till he gets what he wants. As my crawler reaches the crypt I stop it, as the Wyverns look about at the small graveyard trying to figure things out. Frankly I was getting no small amount of enjoyment from how they where reacting but I could also sense their impatience growing by the second. They where clearly more hoping for things to happen then to wait for them, and if I was a betting man, er, dungeon, I would bet they where going to start doing something rash soon.

“he is my elemental, and you won’t harm him” I state in no uncertain terms to the Wyverns who look at my elemental with increased scrutiny.

“and why wouldn’t we, doesn’t seem like there is much that you can do about it.” One of them, blue in scales and a bit bulkier, spoke with a clear glint in his eye.

“as a tributary of our master there isn’t any demands you can be making of us” The other one, green in scale, spoke, and I could hear the sneer as much as I could see it. Frankly impressive on a creature with no lips like a mammal. I checked in on the heir and saw that he was already here, that one can hustle when he wants, and is waiting on the outskirts of the forest just out of sight. The Wyverns don’t seem to particularly notice or care but that may be to their detriment in the next few moments.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

“we have come to collect” The green one speaks and looks towards my elemental with a hunger.

“in exchange we will grant you protection from the defilers who would take our master’s treasure you hold.” I look at the blue one and just mentally sigh, the dragon dungeon sent idiots who say the quiet part out loud to extort me. I look at my elemental to get his feelings on the matter and despite everything he doesn’t seem scared about eminent destruction. I am worried though, I don’t know if I can bring him back cause all and all, he lacks a soul unlike my other creatures or the adventurers.

That in consideration my elemental looks to where my view is and simply nods at me, it is a small thing. He seems ready for all of this and I can’t exactly argue with his bravery despite my fear of what will happen. So I simply give the order to the crawler and the Heir. The Heir cackles and rushes out with a glowing red in his form while the crawler dashes quickly to put itself between the Wyverns and the elemental.

“YOU DARE” the green one whips around and attempts to roar at the armor, but even without being a bound ghost I could tell that one was fearless in the most dangerous way.

“oh I dare” I can feel it move like a hiss as the crawler blocks a strike from the blue Wyvern, who seems surprised. The crawler pushes back before taking it’s spear like forelimbs and beginning to stab forward. They aren’t deep cuts but they are precise, not surprising with how he took down the Naga priest earlier, but I never thought it was this effective. The green Wyvern is fairing far worse though as the Heir moves like, well, I guess man possessed isn’t applicable to possessed armor. The way he moves when fighting is very chaotic but practiced, I seems very much designed to confuse and put off the enemy. The two creatures begin getting some nasty cuts into the Wyverns as the elemental stands by the wayside, and I can see him preparing something. I wonder what it is when it strikes violently.

The ground cracks as large tendrils of earth wrap around the two Wyverns and pin them to the ground. The green one opens its mouth to try and roar out as another tendril wraps around it and muzzles it. There is a lull of activity before the Heir smiles and moves up to the incapacitated creatures ready to give them the killing blow. I full stop him though despite his arguments to the contrary, I don’t want these two dead. No I want them to regret trying to be pushy, I am willing to pay but not a racket, I will pay for goods and services.

“right, you two are going to go back, and tell your master that I don’t play nice with mobsters.” I could feel the wrath in my voice and I was curious where it was coming from. Then a sharp ping in my head told me it was from my blessing, seems it wasn’t too happy about the attempted racketeering.

“And what’s going to stop us from just telling our master you broke the deal.” The blue Wyvern stared daggers at my creatures as it spoke.

“well, I could just kill one of you, and send the other off sans a few bits, maybe that would help the truth slip out?” It was a bluff, but the way the Heir shifted in almost excitement seemed to sell it all the more considering how scared the two suddenly looked.

There was a second or two before they both agreed to the terms and I had the elemental slowly release them. There was an understanding that the two would be bound right back up and punished if they started anything. With a nod between the two they took to the air and began circling before heading off into the distance, towards where that supposed dragon dungeon sat. This was going to get far messier before it got clean, and I can’t help but think it was on purpose.
