  The "T1-L1" type notations indicate the tier and level of the ability. Body and Mind are special, and don't have tiers at all; their numbers are usually considered levels. A level of "R" means "red" which will be explained much later in the story; for now, just think of it as something that levels up in bigger steps. A level of "A" means "absolute," which is the System's way of marking something that doesn't really have levels. Absolute Traits are things you either have or your don't; they don't grow or change, and they never absorb more mana. It's a less common designation for Skills, but the semi-lore type "Apprentice" Skills all come in as level "A."

  In my writing notes, instead of bold-facing the new stuff, I bold all the tier/level indicators that multiply out to more than 1, then apply colors to those that multiply to more than 3, more than 8, etc. It helps me remember which are more expensive to use.
