[Expected Scene[Relaxation, Nature]

  When I jumped to Juliet’s world, I did a quick locate spell. Juliet was in the barn. What is that woman a rabbit? Remembering the last time I visited, I knocked, listened, and knocked again. Then I heard some kid’s voices so I opened the door and Juliet had her class in the barn. She’s pointing out the different tools, spelling them. Same thing with the animals. Ivy stood proudly watching Juliet weave her magic to keep the kids interested. Then she saw me and walked over.

  “Good morning ma’am.”

  “Ivy when are you going to start calling me Rose, no more ma’am ok”

  “Soon, ma’am.”

  “Soon what?”

  “Soon I’ll start calling you Rose, ma’am.”

  “Good, I look forward to it. Does she often bring the kids to the farm?”

  “No, not often enough, we both love kids.”

  “You’ll both make wonderful parents some day.”

  Then Juliet walked over, said Hi and asked Ivy if she’d demonstrate how to milk a cow and a goat. Ivy beamed and said happily.

  “Sorry Juliet, I didn’t mean to intrude on school, I forgot it was a school day. I’ll just tell you want I wanted then skidaddle. I want to turn you and Salome into Junior Bibliomancers. You won’t have full powers but you’ll be able to jump and more importantly if another Bibliomancer comes here they wouldn’t be able to affect you. Only the author of the book could still hold Bibliomancer powers over you. But you’ll need training so come to the store later if you want I’m asking Salome to come around four. Also I took care of Mistralyn, so we have no one that I know of actively aiming to harm me or your world.”

  “Thanks, that sounds wonderful see you this afternoon.”

  Then I jumped back to the store. Sparky was staring at me.

  “Yes, fine I’ll tell you everything. Before you say anything, I knew I could talk my way out, I wouldn’t have to use my powers. As I said to Lu just before Lu told me where they were I realized I had nothing to worry about. He had no plan except to trade Salome for me. But he even screwed that up, he cloaked their location. If he wanted me to find him why cloak, because he’s lousy at causing mischief and he’s extremely sensitive about it. You should have heard him when I mentioned Puck. Plus he’s been banished and was hoping I was his ticket back. I convinced him that Titania would be upset if I delayed writing her biography.”

  “What, really.”

  “So at that point he just caved, I asked him how he’d changed my character Damon into a Bibliomancer. He gave me the wand. It's got six charges left, so I’m going to use it on Juliet and Salome later today. They won’t be full Bibliomancers but they will be able to jump and when in a book only that book’s author has any Bibliomancy powers over them. So it’ll be good protection for them. One to jump away from danger and two if they’re in Juliet's world no one can hurt them.”

  “That’s fine then but there is something you need to hear. One of my Bibliomancer powers is Bibliomancy, a fancy word for fortune telling. Last night I checked your fortune again and the queen still means to get to you, now Bibliomancy isn’t an exact science so I have no idea when, it could be years away, so protect all you can and keep practicing. I wished it was all over, that’s why I checked.”

  “Well I’ll just deal with it when I have to and as you say keep practicing and making the others more capable of their own defense.”

  “Now tell me what did you do wrong yesterday?”

  “Instead of telling Lu I tricked her because I love her and didn’t want her walking into a trap.”

  “Now that you’ve had time to think it over, how would you do that differently.”

  “I’d ask Lu to stay, explain my plan to her and my reasoning if time allowed, ask her to observe what happens and rescue me if necessary.”

  “So you can make a good plan, just not in the heat of the moment. But it’s in the heat of the moment that you get killed for a bad plan or no plan, Rose. You do understand that right? I get that you want to protect all your friends, but who’s going to protect them when you're dead?”

  “I’m sorry.”

  “Don't be sorry, be smart, your friends are more capable than you think. Have you ever thought to ask Lily what other kind of magic she has in that bakery? I know she gave you and Lu ‘cures’, well she has lots of different kinds of magic and that’s a resource. Juliet is very capable and while I hesitated at the idea of giving her full Biliomancy powers, this wand sounds ideal. Salome is very young but she’s mature and will follow your instructions, Juliet probably will not but with limited powers and the extra protections it provides she and the people she loves in her world will be the safer because of it.”

  At 4 o’clock Juliet and Salome became my first apprentices. We jumped to Juliet's world, then back to the bookstore. Salome jumped us to the new school and Juliet back to the bookstore. Salome jumped us to the hotel scene where Paula and McCracken kiss for the first time. I think Salome has a little crush on McCracken. And Juliet jumped us to the farm. I thought that was enough for a first day and made them both promise not to jump anywhere unless it was a full blown emergency until we had a few more practice sessions.

  Then I went home to my new floor in the tower. Wow, Wow, Wow. If I wanted a walk through nature, I’d never even have to go outside. That first floor with the pond and forest was spectacular. I could easily see why Lu liked it here.
