Meeting face-to-face this time, Scarlett introduced, "This is Charles. Do you remember him?"
Grace nodded.
Charles seemed very introverted. Seeing Grace arrive, he said to Scarlett, "Then I'll head back now."
Scarlett raised an eyebrow, watching as he glanced at Grace, gave a quick nod, and then left.
Scarlett then chuckled softly. "Look at him, so clumsy and slow-witted."
"Wasn't the guy who suddenly confessed his love to you also from the Math Department? I should have asked Charles just now; maybe they're in the same class."
Being reminded of that person out of the blue, his image was still lingering in Grace's mind, mainly because he was just so... memorable, impossible to forget.
"Please, don't bring him up. It gives me the creeps," Grace retorted irritably.
Scarlett laughed even more happily. "Got a psychological shadow now? Are all the guys in the Math Department at our school this weird? Yours was naturally creepy like a pervert, and mine is always dopey like a simpleton."
"Don't say that. I think he looks fine, clean and tidy. And he came to deliver something for you."
However slow Charles might seem, he looked neat and presentable, and not bad-looking either—just his glasses were a bit thick, a standard feature for top students.
Scarlett pursed her lips and nodded. "True, comparing him to your 'that one' does feel a bit unfair to him. At least he looks somewhat normal."
"'My that one'? Which one of mine? Stop talking nonsense," Grace quickly corrected her wording, distancing herself from any association with Rock.
Scarlett hurriedly said, "Yes, yes, my mistake. But you get the idea."
Then she raised the item in her hand; it turned out Charles had brought her skincare products. "Look at this, a Swiss brand. Works amazingly. There aren't even counters for it domestically. I had someone bring it back from abroad. One set for each of us."
Grace immediately smiled, shaking the premium sushi in her own hand. "What a coincidence! Her Ladyship has also brought you a delicacy—sushi from 'Qi House'."
"Oh, I love their sushi the most. Thanks, darling."
The next morning, Grace found Multimedia Classroom No. 2 for class according to her schedule. However, the moment she stepped inside, she sensed the atmosphere in the classroom today was off.
Or perhaps it became off the instant she appeared.
The classmates in the classroom first fixed their gazes squarely on Grace. Then, most eyes revealed hidden anger, though no one spoke. Soon after, they all averted their eyes.
Grace blinked in bewilderment. She didn't think she was being oversensitive; she had clearly received those unfriendly stares.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
But she herself didn't know the reason.
She found a seat with no one nearby and had just sat down when she saw the teacher stride quickly into the classroom from outside.
Grace didn't pay close attention to the lecture content. Or rather, since returning to university this time, she hadn't been able to focus much during any class.
Firstly, she was already thoroughly familiar with this course material. Secondly, she seemed to have developed a distinct feeling: her interest in astronomy wasn't as strong as before.
She had devoted decades of her life to astronomy, yet in the future, the heights humanity reached in the field of space exploration saw no substantial breakthroughs.
The unknowns remained unknowns. What humanity could reach and substantiate wasn't enough to change the status quo.
Grace didn't know if her decades of wholehearted devotion had gradually eroded her former passion and pursuit of her ideals, or if it was simply because she was now too wealthy, leading to a loss of interest in studying and striving.
But regardless of the reason, she genuinely felt the loss of her passion for astronomy.
Should she change her major?
But for the time being, she didn't seem interested in any other field. Besides, changing majors was troublesome, and she hated trouble.
"That's all for today's class. If you have any questions, you can ask me privately after class."
Grace rubbed her slightly drowsy temples and was about to get up and leave when she suddenly heard someone stand up and ask the teacher loudly, "Professor, we heard the donation of four astronomical telescopes from the Dylan Group to our department has been cancelled. Is that true?"
The teacher didn't react much upon hearing this, as if he had anticipated the question. He nodded candidly, "The department has already been notified about this matter. The telescope issue has been put on hold for now. However, the department still has many other pieces of equipment."
"Is that the same? I heard the telescopes the Dylan Group originally intended to donate were top-of-the-line, nearly three hundred dollars each! The department's current telescopes are equipment from over a decade ago. They can't compare at all."
At this point, many classmates once again turned their gazes toward Grace. The blame and anger in their eyes were unmistakable, clearly holding Grace responsible for this incident.
Grace was momentarily taken aback. Remembering the intense confrontation with Eric's mother in the principal's office just two days ago, she belatedly realized that her actions had caused the department to lose the telescopes the Dylan Group had originally planned to donate.
At this moment, she understood her classmates' resentment. For astronomy students, getting to use top-tier telescopes was a dream come true.
And because of her, that dream had been shattered. Missing this opportunity, they might never have the chance to even touch such high-end equipment in their lifetime.
No wonder she was receiving such a "staring reception."
Grace didn't evade the issue. She immediately stood up and spoke, "I'm very sorry that my actions have caused the department to lose such important equipment. First, I apologize to everyone."
"What good does apologizing do? Couldn't you and Eric have resolved your matters properly?"
"Exactly! Why should your relationship issues affect all of us!"
"I really don't get it. Are all pretty people this arrogant? Even a guy with Eric's qualifications can get dumped now?"
Grace speaking up directly intensified the classmates' negative emotions. They began openly criticizing her right then and there.
Some comments became more and more outrageous, to the point where Grace couldn't help but laugh.
"What are you laughing at? Did we say anything wrong?"
Grace followed the voice and saw it was a girl with a decent appearance—the one who had said, "I really don't get it. Are all pretty people this arrogant? Even a guy with Eric's qualifications can get dumped now?"
Grace didn't quite remember this girl's name. She just looked at her coldly and asked, "Why can't a guy like Eric be dumped? Just because his family is rich? Because he's good-looking? So it's only reasonable if all girls get dumped by him? You're a girl yourself. How can you say such things so casually?"
The girl didn't expect that with so many people criticizing Grace, she would single her out to refute. Her pretty face flushed immediately. "That's not what I meant!"
"That's exactly what you meant!" Grace said sternly. "You can be Eric's 'dream girl' fan all you want yourself, but don't go around belittling other women here."
