I stood up as well, my mind racing, this was the opportunity of a lifetime. But it was not a decision I could take lightly.
“I apologise, but this is not something I can decide on immediately, please give me some time before I agree or disagree.” I said trying make them understand my plea.
Thomas sat down saying. “That’s perfectly understandable, but please don’t take too long, I’ll ask my butler to give you a gate pass, so that you can come and give us you answer.”
After that tense bit of conversation, we continued talking for a bit until I finally went back to the inn, all the while my mind was beset by thoughts of joining or rejecting the offer.

After I reached the inn, I immediately went to my room, shut and locked it and went to sleep.
The next morning found me at the adventurer’s guild. After having my quest stamped as complete and receiving the monetary reward listed, I decided to get another quest done while I was thinking things through.
The quest board was already picked clean of higher-level quests, so I decided the find my pet quest would have to suffice. I took it and went out to the location listed as last seen.
It was in the nobles’ ring, so I once again had to show my quest to the gatekeeper before I was let though.
After reaching the location, I used my search skills and found a hairball in one of the gutters along the side of the road. Using my magic along with the imprint of the hairball I used a past sight spell to track the cat’s traces.
After running around for a bit, it had seemed the cat had decided to head the top of a large building that was still under construction, I used my stealth spell along with a gravity spell to ascend to the top of the building.
The poor cat’s traces suddenly disappeared at an odd place and after a bit of searching I had found him under a crate, he seemed slightly dehydrated and extremely hungry. It must have been under there for quite a while.
After removing a clay bowl from my alternate space, I first poured some milk from there into the bowl. It drank it happily. After it drank its fill, I fed it some boar meat that I still had left.
She ate happily finally filling its belly, making sure not to over feed it to make sure it did not throw its meal back up, I picked her up and made a gate spell to take me to an empty alley close to the location listed as the owner’s.
After the knock, the door slowly opened and a cute maid curtsied and asked what my business was. After explaining that I was the adventurer that found the missing pet, she immediately let me in and went to call her master.
The next few minutes was filled with a lot of thanks from the little girl whose cat I had found, which proceeded into the cutest scene I have ever seen. Where the cat’s name sniffles were desperately trying to escape the snotty sniffling little girls hugging and petting.

I had my conformation form in a bit later, and headed back to the adventurer’s guild. After receiving my reward, I decided to take a stroll through the city.

Walking along the paths and alleyways I left all the monitoring to adviser as I ruminated on my circumstance. I soon found myself in a dark alley with voices ahead. They sounded angry and ready to engage in combat.
Ignoring the cliché of me walking in on a group of thugs trying to rob a girl that was holding a small staff at the ready I decided that I may as well help.
“GET BACK YOU SCOUNDREL!!” the blue-haired girl was shouting at the largest thug. She was of short stature the skin-hugging robe that she wore accentuated her bust and rump, clearly not helping her plight.
They were advancing on her, she started chanting a spell, a wind explosive one by the sound of it, I knew that it would barely keep them back.
Dashing in I activated a spell to launch them up into air, as the spell stopped, I grabbed what seemed to be the leader and threw him as far as I cold with a judo throw.
There was a crack and he landed hard. Before the rest of the thugs could get back on their feet I knocked out two of them, the girl realising I was helping her was not waiting. And instead brought her staff down hard on the last one’s head, possibly cracking his skull with her force.
After tying them up, she said. “Thanks for the assist, two I can handle but that one asshole was too strong to just attack head on, I am Misha by the way, Misha Retia. A lower-class noble. May I have your name?”
“Lucian from hearthsmeth, at your service” I quipped. ‘a lower-class noble she was pretty far away from the inner ring.’ I thought towards adviser.
‘Well, ask her why then pea brain I don’t know why.’ Adviser said sounding offended, I wondered what I had done to make him upset.
“If I may ask what it a noble doing in the outer rim, and in such a secluded place to boot.” I asked trying to sound curios instead of interrogative.
“Truth, is I got separated from my guards as I went sightseeing, truly a damn shame.” She said looking a little embarrassed. “I see, so where did your guards say to go in case this happens.” I said trying to let the tension ease
She looked at me with suspicion, then said “The adventurers guild. That is the best place to find me for them.” I took out my B rank card and spoke. “I am an adventurer; I can take you there if you want.”
She decided to trust me after taking a last look at the assailants’ prone figures. She followed me as I led her through the maze of buildings until, we finally reached the guild building. Her guards were already there, arguing with the desk clerk.
“I am telling you; his lordship can pay the price just put up the request!” the head guard was animatedly telling to the clerk.
“I’m am sorry sir, but without upfront payment we can’t guarantee the quest reward.” She replied, keeping her demeanour calm and collected while dealing with her angry counterpart.
‘Truly professional.’ I thought before Misha ran up to her guard and shouted, “Edward!” before hugging him tightly. “My lady, thank goodness. Where were you we could not find you.” He said sounding both worried but relieved.
“I got lost after wandering a bit, but luckily this adventurer found me and helped me beat up a couple of thugs that were after me, he guided me back here.” She said still hugging her guard.
He walked forward releasing himself from her embrace and did a bow. “Thank you, sir, for helping her we owe you, our gratitude.” His bow making it seem awkward.
“It’s not that big a deal.” I replied feeling conscious of the stares around me. After he profusely apologised for their incompetence and promised to make it up to me which I kept trying to stop and say that I do not deserve a reward for they left and headed to the inner ring.

In my room in my in a decision finally surfaced in my mind. I would go to the Angralian Magic Academy. And I would graduate to get a way better name for myself.
The next day had found me at Tomas’s place accepting his offer.
