If you’ve read this far then I’d like to thank you. I can’t tell you how much joy I get every time I see the view counter tick up, or a new comment or rating. It’s so cool to know that somewhere out there people are reading my ramblings and liking them enough to come back for more.
This story took far longer to like than I’d like to admit, while my skills as an author still have a very long way to go I started off far worse. The first attempt I took at writing this had Alexander in his send-off speech, telling you what the entire plot for the rest of the book would be. I still have the speech in a junk folder, and if I’m feeling particularly masochistic, I’ll go back and cringe at it.
The initial plot had a whopping three ‘academy arcs’ planned back to back with the Ways being the first of them and something of a military school. While I don’t want to spoil volume 2 for anyone I’ll at least tell you that it isn’t a university arc.
Lastly, I’d like to give a heartfelt thank you to the folks on Patreon. Every cent I make directly buys me time and lets me dedicate it to more writing.

Following the end of volume 1 there will be a break while I’m working on my backlog for volume 2. Not to worry though, as I won’t completely leave you without entertainment. I have a few of bonus chapters planned to tide you over while Felix is off on his adventure in the Feywild and beyond.
The detailed schedule is at the bottom of the previous chapters and and updates schedule will be posted at the bottom of every chapter until the start of vol 2. This break will also let Patreon get back it's 10 chapter lead it lost during the last of Writathon, if the release feels a bit slow over the holidays you can hop over there, where vol 2 is already underway.
More long-term plans for the story are a little more in flux, though I hope to keep releasing chapters on RR while relying on Patreon to sustain the story, it seems unlikely that it will work. It looks likely that I'll need to stub the story in the near future to put it on Kindle Unlimited. New chapters will, of course, continue to be released on RR and Patreon regardless of what I do.
In terms of the story itself, my initial plans for Starfarer was to have 4 volumes, and a possible novella that follows Lara's pov during the events between vol 1 and 2. While working on vol 2, I've considered cutting the story down to three volumes and keeping the novella idea for later. I have a few other stories I've been itching to write, and shortening Starfarer will allow me to focus on those. What I ultimately do will come down to how I feel about the story at the end of volume 2. For now, I'm just excited to show you the wonders of the world and intricacies of the magic system now that we're finally leaving the Crossroad.
Thanks again for reading the story, I hope to see you in volume 2 in the new year.
Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to you all.
