Description:
Officially one of the earliest star raiser systems. Developed by the Alliance shortly after the death of the gods. This system was developed in an attempt to mimic the conditions that led to the birth of so many Starfarers in the Alliance’s early years.
Homeworlds are planets where all mana is strictly controlled under the supervision of an overseer. Knowledge about mana is limited, and children are raised learning only about Travellers through stories until the age of 12-14. This seeks to recreate the experience of early Travellers born on Divine Seats in the age of the gods.
Upon reaching the requisite age children, spend a year in an environment with abundant mana corresponding to their affinities, allowing for optimal acclimation. The system aims to foster a desire or curiosity in children through early indoctrination while allowing them to grow with all needs fulfilled. Basic education is completed before the introduction of mana, allowing children to channel all their energy into their path early on.
Advantages:
- Several starfarers have been created through this method.
- Lowers risk of path fatigue and refusal due to overtraining.
- Fosters a desire for self-improvement.
- Produces well-balanced and emotionally stable Travellers.
Disadvantages:
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
- Loss of early training time.
- Must be paired with a suitable training method upon introduction to mana.
- Higher-than-average rate of failed starts among Travellers.
- Creating controlled mana zones can be resource-intensive, resulting in inflated costs.
- Can produce xenophobic individuals if education is insufficient.
Warnings:
A fringe group of pseudo Travellers known as ‘Scientists’ have been known to flock towards homeworlds. While not inherently dangerous, these individuals attempt to study mana’s ‘natural behaviour.’ This has been deemed a dead path by the EC. It is only allowed to continue due to the occasional useful insight provided by this group. Strictly limit contact with children in the Homeworld system to prevent indoctrination.
Requires a strict information control around mana. Failure to adhere has been shown to produce suboptimal results. May result in existential crises in a small number of children.
