Name: Sil'ther'tha (Silverpaw)
Silverpaw are a gecko-like race re-engineered to manage electrical repair and welding tasks in extreme environments, including space.
Silverpaw are non-obligate bipedal, gecko-like Ber, with semi-rigid pebbled scaling that may be of any hue or coloration. Their eyes are faceted and gem-like in appearance, with no visible iris and may emit an internal glow.
They are so named due to the visible metallic pads present on their hands and feet, which may be different colors or metals.
Silverpaw have poor vision compared to Humans, having eyes not well suited for use in the ‘normal’ visual spectrum, as well as lacking depth perception and ability to focus on detail beyond close range. This is primarily due to lack of an iris and other focusing mechanisms which give limited, fixed focal depth. They have broad panoramic sight, with a near-complete field of vision, which extends into ranges far above and below humans into ultraviolet and infrared ranges.
Silverpaws are capable of perceiving electromagnetic and theromagnetic fields directly. This is not performed by eye structures, though they do participate to some degree, those senses are instead synthesized.
They do not possess an outer eyelid, but instead a simple membrane that can shield their faceted eyes. As such, they cannot generate tears, and instead must lick their eyes to clean them.
Hands are not actually paws once adulthood is reached, as they have grasping, opposable fingers, with silvered pads and copper bones. They are naturally immune to damage from electricity, being able to safely ground arcs of any size, up to and including natural lightning.
Physiologies using alternatives to copper and silver have been observed, with differing capabilities, though rarely.
Metallicized scale regions are capable of 'sticking' to metal via electromagnetic field induction as well as eddy current oscillation.
Silverpaw weigh approximately 20–30 kg at full size, and tend towards 1m in height, with variance for individuals.
Silverpaw as a species can tolerate most temperature ranges, from volcanic to polar, including vacuum specializations. Environments high in metals and electrical fields are favorites — both stormy and heavy-metal polluted zones hold no danger for them.
As Ber'Duun, silverpaw are found anywhere. Their high variance in temperature tolerance and aetheric insensitivity means they can be found where other Ber'Duun may be rendered uncomfortable, such as polar regions and cataclysm outskirts, far closer than most Ber can tolerate.

Silverpaw are generally congenial, and have no specific racial biases of note. They're known for being well-mannered, friendly, helpful, and informative. As individual travel is part of their shared culture, it is not only common, but often expected to see lone travelers, and they are enthusiastically welcomed by most communities.
No specific dietary requirements exist, but Silverpaw are voracious eaters due to the high energy requirements of their physiology when applied.
Silverpaw undergoing regeneration of specific tissues and bones will consume appropriate ores.
Silverpaw genesis information is a closely held secret, and no details are forthcoming from any individual. It is obvious that Silverpaw were an intelligent species prior to integration as Ber, due to developmental intelligence demonstration prior to awakening, but exact levels are indeterminate.
Silverpaw have only three developmental states — egg-bound, adolescent and adult. The transition to adult is characterized primarily by bipedal stance and tissue hardening. Adolescent bones are cartilaginous, and joint orientation renders bipedal movement awkward, with softer, supple scaling while the characteristic silver effuses into tissues.
Silverpaw have only a single sex, but progress through, or in some cases alternate between three different primary genders, which are loosely associated with reproductive readiness.
Young are typically deposited as part of an initially non-viable clutch, which are then fertilized by any number of other individuals. Genetic material is integrated while the eggs resemble an amniotic sac, which then rapidly hardens into an ootheca, before undergoing maturation. Individuals emerge according to no set schedule of development, and two otherwise identical eggs may hatch months apart with no significant developmental difference. Silverpaw are capable of communication within minutes of emergence, and do not require awakening to achieve rudimentary sophont levels of intelligence.
Individual lifespan may easily exceed multiple centuries without anti-senescence therapies. Longer lifespans have been rumored, but not confirmed. All tissues are capable of regeneration, and any non-terminal wound will eventually be repaired in full, including amputation or major organ damage. Mortality is observed primarily via predation or catastrophic mishap.
Individuals exhibit the same range of variance as any other sophont race, but culturally Silverpaw tend towards erudite pursuits, prizing education and knowledge, with an equal focus on application thereof.
Once an individual attains mastery of one or more crafts or areas of knowledge, it is often expected that they will go on a practicum; an expedition to apply and potentially disseminate attained skills and information.
Silverpaw are highly intelligent, even among Ber'Duun, and cultures tend to maintain significant libraries of non-induced knowledge.
Transmission of electrical current may occur from internal energy storage repositories, or external augmentation for extended or larger-scale operations.
Silverpaw are capable of working with significant electrical currents, and can transmit them to any silvered portion of their body (hands, feet, tail, underbelly) in a directed manner at a variety of power levels, from stunning to sustained arc generation.
Aetheric capabilities are limited to field generation and detection, but individuals may be capable of aetheric field generation and disruption at close range.
The ability to induce both eddy currents and electromagnetic fields renders close range action using metallic arms or armor inconsistent at best.
