Chapter 21
The mood was tense on the old moon station. Amos and Reva were accompanied by Freyr, Lycus and a team of Taranian security personnel. Although primitive in appearance, they had managed to find lantean blasters and personal shields in the armory in the Ancient military base and were armed to the teeth. The first person to be freed from the wraith storage buffer did not react well when told he and his family most likely died on the planet because the second shuttle never made it to the station. He put up quite a fight but the Taranian security team was able to detain him until the rest of his people were restored.
“The next person queued should be their leader Jamus,” said Reva as she perused the moonbase’s computer systems. In a few short moments out came an old stout man with grey hair wearing a dark colored suit.
“Hello, my name is Amos Fyree, you must be Jamus?” said Amos as he greeted the newly reintegrated elder. The old man, taken aback by the presence of an Alien and foreign men with advanced guns and body armor, quickly sized up the room and all those in it. Where were his people? Who were these strangers onboard his station? All of these questions stirred in his mind after being awakened.
“Don’t be afraid,” consoled Amos. “You and your people are no longer in orbit around the same world that you originated. Instead, you and your station have been moved to the planet Taranis.
“W-Wh-What happened to my world? Why, I mean how, have you done this?” asked Jamus frantically. Reva, sensing fear in his voice, stood up from where she was stationed and walked over to Jamus. “Your world was destroyed in a nuclear holocaust. The surface of the planet has been desolate for over two hundred years. Even if your people were revived one thousand years from now, the planet you once called home would still be uninhabitable.”
Amos further consoling the bewildered man said to him, “Sir, we brought you here to Taranis so that you and your people could resume your lives again. This world was once an ancestral military base, it has a planetary shield, an Ancestral warship, and is free from the Wraith. I have with me Lycus, leader of the Taranian people. He, and his governing council, have offered to give you and your people sanctuary on this world.”

The worry that once beset Jamus now started to dissipate after discovering that he was not in danger. Lycus, seeing this as well, approached Jamus to offer him and his people a formal greeting from the people of Taranis. “On behalf of the citizens of Taranis, you and your people are welcome here. Our world has often been a safe haven for dislocated people fleeing the Wraith. Please accept our offer of relocation to our world. We believe that with your technological expertise, your civilization can dramatically improve life here on Taranis.”
“So it was our Ark that attracted you to us?” wondered Jamus.
“Yes,” said Amos. “We stumbled upon your Ark in orbit around your former world. We were surprised. There aren’t that many technologically sophisticated civilizations in this galaxy. We thought meeting you far outweighed the risks of keeping you in stasis.”
“How is it that you moved an entire moon? Yes, our technology is great, but you seem to already be in possession of technology that rivals both ours and the Ancestors,” exclaimed Jamus, perplexed by the fact they were high above the skies of another world.
“Yes, you are right we are technologically advanced and can move throughout the stars using ships, just like the Ancestors did thousands of years ago, however we brought you here in the hopes that you and your scientists could help us restore some of the Ancestors' former glory in hopes of ridding the entire galaxy of the Wraith once and for all,” Amos said. “We were specifically interested in how you were able to adapt wraith beaming technology to hold your entire population indefinitely.”
Jamus, realizing why they were attracted to his civilization, shook his head and responded, “Ah yes, our scientists were successful in modifying wraith beaming technology to create an Ark for our people. Many said it couldn’t be done, but in the end we proved them wrong. We are a very tenacious people and stopped at nothing to be free from the Wraith.” Turning towards Lycus, who was standing in the midst of his guards, Jamus thanked him for offering refuge to his people. “Thank you for giving us sanctuary on your home. The people of the Ark will graciously offer you all of our knowledge and technology, especially if it means ridding the entire universe of the scourge of the Wraith once and for all.” The two shook hands and departed the ship.
Soon Jumpers full of refugees from the Ark descended upon Taranis. The people of the Ark founded a small settlement in the south of the planet removed from the Taranian military base. The Asgard, with the help of Amos and Reva, created modular homes for the new refugees. These homes were large two story houses fully furnished with all of the modern comforts humans would have on Earth. Unlike homes on Earth, however, each home came furnished with a holographic viewing screen, subspace communicator, and its very own food synthesizer. Many of the Asgard who designed the human food court on Valhalla came over to Taranis to set up more creature comforts found on Earth. They opened up a Mcdonalds, Subway, and even made a few Starbucks. Seeing so many children on Taranis, the Asgard built a large school and play ground so that the children of Taranis and the Ark could learn and play together. Over the next several weeks Taranis experienced an industrial boom, growing its buildings and infrastructure to accommodate its new inhabitants. When it was complete, the people of the Ark began to call their new settlement Arkology and lived freely among the Taranian people.
