Chapter 25

  Chapter 25

Freyr had contacted his people and a fleet of Biliskinir class vessels had arrived to assist in the evacuations. However, they were not needed. Amos and Reva’s quick thinking saved the world from destruction. As the two walked into the gate room, they were met by a thunderous applause.

“Here here!” said a Taranian man.

“You saved us all!” said a woman from Arkology.

As they walked into the gateroom, people from all over patted them on the back and congratulated them for saving their world in the nick of time. Still, Reva and Amos assured them that their task was not yet complete; they still had to see how the nanites were affecting the inside of the planet.

The two sat down at the nearest view screen where they brought up the holographic image of the kinos and their path underneath the volcano.

“We charted a course for the Kinos to go underneath the mountain as well as underneath the settlements and deploy our ablative nanites,” explained Reva.

“In theory they should form a protective layer underneath Taranis and Arkology so that magma will not cause any more earthquakes or eruptions,” added Amos.

“That’s not all.” Freyr, who was monitoring the situation from his own work station, pointed out something quite interesting. “The nanites you deployed have also served as a conductive material. It appears that the geothermal mechanism powering the military base, as well as its energy shield, just received a dramatic boost in power. It is as if the nanites made the Lantean designed power relay – better.”

Reva quickly looked over Freyr’s data, “He’s right! I’m reading a 75% increase in powerflow to the planetary shields as well as the Ancient military base.”

Freyr nodded his head in agreement and said, “My people will remain in orbit of Taranis to further analyze the planet and maintain a presence just in case a catastrophe arises again. However, I do believe the worst is indeed over.”

A large smile came across Lycus’s face. He walked over to Reva, Amos, and Freyr and said, “I want to thank you all for coming to this world. If you all wouldn’t have come here, our world would most likely have been destroyed. Everyone, let’s give one more round of applause for our heroes!”

“Hip hip, hooray! Hip hip, hooray!”
