  Aerober (gemstone): A silvery brittle gem that generate winds when shaken. Used by windriders to channel Aero and control winds.

  Aeiouday: The first day of the week.

  Aero: the strain of fantasia used by windriders to control air.

  Alegna: An unknown location outside the Kingdom of Gadria. Its people prefer to decorate their houses with flowers instead of gems.

  Alektom (Barony): One of the noble merchant houses of Troqua that constitute a Barony. They own a gemfarm under the city. Their sigil is comprised of heated pyrpphires carved in the shape of a flame. Rivals against house Meadrix. Led by Baron Tarian Alektom. Note: the 't' is silent; only pronounce it in front of them if you want to start a fight.

  Alektom (gemfarm): A gemfarm in the Mines owned by house Alektom. It extends into the Deeps where its open for prospectors to explore freely. Located near the Meadrix's gemfarm. Had expanded or shrank over the centuries due to the hidden territorial war against the Meadeixes.

  Amegravo (mineral): A lavender colored crystal that has gravitational powers. When aligned perfectly, it allows objects to floats, like carts or carriages. Used by connectors and other specialists to channel Gravo and control gravity.

  Animator: A channeler who can utilize Psycho to use telekinesis on objects under varying rulesets. A mentalist.

  Akunai Kasi: A twenty-six-year-old man. Chief of the Dawn and Dusk Wardens of Troqua. Known for winning the championship in Troqua's arena multiple times. Duchess Cleora’s fiancée. A mighty firedancer.

  Aqua: the strain of fantasia that’s used by tidebreakers to control water.

  Aquanturine (crystal): A deep blue colored crystal that has aquatic powers. Can pull, push, or hold water around it. The rarest of its kind can even generate water in the right hands. After being cut, they're used in pipes, aqueducts, and sewers to facilitate running water. Used by tidebreakers to channel Aqua and control water.

  Aquanturine (district): A residential district at the north of Troqua bordering the lake. Many of those who live here work in fish farms or transporting items to and from Florald District.

  Aquaxos: A water elexos. The most territorial of its ilk. Capable of launching itself as a powerful geyser upwards.

  Astrum (pl. Astra): A tool/weapon used by a channeler to cast a spell. They can be anything: swords, hammers, staffs, even boring old wands.

  Avyhandouse Mountains: A mountain range north of Troqua. Marks the end of the Smaragdine Forest. The highest peak is over fifteen-thousand feet high.

  B

  Back Alley (the): An alternative entryway into the Deeps through the Coals District. Allows entry to the lower sections of some gemfarm systems.

  Basalt Tensho: A thirty-four-year-old man. The leader of Skye’s prospecting team. A stonemason. Claims to be the strongest in the Deeps. Emphasis on 'claims'.

  Bell (the): A mysterious magical bell that haunts Skye. Makes people forget he exist, among other things.

  Beryllian Sea: A sea to the northwest of Troqua, beyond the Avyhandouse Mountains.

  Billiam Alektom: A nine-year-old boy. Nakais's little brother. Smart as a puppy and as excitable.

  Bio: the strain of fantasia used by fleshmasters to control flesh.

  Bob (Apparition): A skeleton in the dungeon underneath the wardens’ Secret Library. Real identity unknown.

  Breath of the Mountain (Argentum Ventus): A silver iris. A windriding astrum with balanced fantasia distribution.

  Bubbleblower: A channeler who can utilize Sapo to control soap. An elementalist.

  C

  Calystra Cordropee: A forty-six-year-old woman. Baroness of house Cordropee. Known for her ambition and grit. People often do the mistake of underestimating her. A tidebreaker.

  Caveboar: Large, wild boars that dwell in the Deeps. Known for its berserk nature and mad charge. If you see one coming at you, run!

  Cavetoad: Bioluminescent frogs that dwell in the Deeps. Highly poisonous. DO NOT EAT!

  Cerulean River: A river that flows from the Avyhandouse Mountains and snakes south through the Smaragdine Forest. Brimming with Aquaxii.

  Channel (to): The act of forcing one’s fantasia through an astrum to cast a spell. Some cosmic creatures don't need an astrum, and channel through their own bodies.

  Charge (to): The act of absorbing fantasia from the surrounding environment into one’s body.

  Charging kata: See Kata.

  Cleora Illisht. A twenty-year-old woman. Daughter of Duke Hishtem, and the duchess of Troqua. A.K.A. Cleo, Leora, Lora. An icesculptor.

  Coal (rock): A useless material that’s ubiquitous in the Deeps. It's sooty, grimy, and burning it sends clouds of smoke; a dangerous signal for a city hiding underground. Used as a slur in Troqua.

  Coals (district): The largest residential district in Troqua, residing beneath the other districts. No one knows how deep it goes, or how many inhabit it. Rife with crime and drugs.

  Coalant: A breed of giant black ants that’s ubiquitous in the Deeps. Not venomous, but the little insects still hurt.

  Coalfly: A breed of green ants in the Deeps that somehow finds its way to corpses before they petrify.

  Connector: A channeler who can utilize Spati to control space. A specialist.

  Contamination: The effect of fantasia on the body, different for each strain of fantasia. Manifests during channeling, or when treading through fantasia-dense areas like the Deeps.

  Cordropee (Barony): One of the noble merchant houses of Troqua. They own a gemfarm under the city. Their sigil is comprised of dewy aquanturines carved in the shape of a wave. Led by Baroness Calystra Cordropee.

  Cordropee (location): A gemfarm in the Mines owned by house Cordropee. The tunnels beneath it extend into the Deeps where they're open for prospectors to explore freely.

  Cosmic Creature: A creature whose body functions as an astrum and doesn't need an external astrum to channel.

  Cryoby (gemstone): A misty blue gem that’s extremely cold. Used like ice to cool drinks and refrigerate food. Used by icesculptors to channel Cryo and control ice.

  D

  Dawn Warden: Also known as Royal Warden. The order of wardens’ that’s tasked with protecting the duke and his family. The only people that are allowed to travel with the duke and his family outside of Troqua. Reports to Chief Akunai Kasi. Their insignia is a golden crowned sun.

  Deepbat: A giant cave bat that lives in the Deeps. Its eyes gleam red. Highly vicious and bloodthirsty. Encountering one is considered by miners and prospectors as a bad omen.

  Dedrion Ilma III: The current duke of Kastrala.

  Dee (Apparition): A skeleton in the dungeon underneath the wardens’ hidden library. Real identity unknown.

  Deeps (the): The extensive and deadly tunnel system that stretches for miles under Troqua. No one knows how deep it goes or how they were formed. Rife with riches and dangers. Highly contaminated with Geo fantasia which causes petrification to humans after prolonged exposure. The fantasia also hardens the walls, making digging through them extremely hard.

  Devil’s Fork (the): A tunnel in the Deeps that branches endlessly. Many prospectors have gone missing there. Rumors say that if you descend deep enough, you'll run into cannibal tribes.

  Dragonmosquitoes: A breed of giant, red mosquitoes in the Deeps. Their stingers are able to pierce stonebears’ hides.

  Dray Illyne: A twenty-one-year-old Dusk Warden. Lyonel's older brother. An animator mentalist who specializes in unlocking things.

  Dual: A channeler who can wield two strains of fantasia. Rare. Percentages vary by channeling class.

  Dud: A person who cannot channel any strain of fantasia. Nearly 40% of Troqueans are duds.

  Dusk Warden: The order of wardens that’s responsible for completing trade runs outside of Troqua, and protecting Solarite District. Most wardens belong to this order. Reports to Chief Akunai Kasi. Their insignia is a raised, winged fist, blocking the rising sun.

  Duke (the): The title of Troqua’s ruler. Currently it’s Duke Hishtem Illisht IX.

  Duke’s Road: A secret road through the Smaragdine Forest connecting Troqua to the Troquean Hideout and beyond to Kastrala. Only known to the duke.

  Dunya (the): Everything in existence.

  E

  Electropaz (crystal): A yellow mineral that generates electricity. Used by lightningeaters to channel Electro and control electricity.

  Elementalis: The order of channelers who can manipulate the elements.

  Elexos (pl. Elexii): The ferocious elemental monsters that besiege Troqua and roam the Smaragdine Forest. Many types have been observed and studied. They are invulnerable, their numbers endless. Their origins and purpose are a mystery. Do NOT name them out loud as they could sense you!

  Emery Illisht: A forty-eight-year-old man. The duke's brother and the Chief of the Twilight Wardens. A secretive man. Has vitiligo. An animator mentalist who can manipulate anything he owns.

  Erbartz (gemstone): A black gem that sucks and dims nearby light. Worn over one’s heart as a sign of morning. Used by tenebraries to channel Erebo and control darkness.

  Erillea: The golden sun of planet Inma. Shines on the southwestern hemisphere.

  Etherealist: The order of channelers who can manipulate non-physical matter.

  F

  Fantasia: The magical force that allows people and creatures to control the forces of nature.

  Feeryx (crystal): Usually a silver gemstone with many industrial applications. Used by metalsmiths to channel Ferro and control metal. Which metal? That depends on its type and cut, and of course, the channeler themselves.

  Ferrugh: The capital of the kingdom of Gadria. Ruled by King Zakium.

  Ficar Sheoslen: A twenty-two-year-old Dusk Warden. Dresses like a delinquent and often gets in trouble because of it. A powerful windrider. Has ambition to join the Dawn Wardens. Dray’s friend. The 's' in his last name is silent.

  Firedancer: A channeler who can utilize Pyro to control fire. An elementalist.

  Fleshmaster: A channeler who can utilize Bio to control living flesh. A naturalist.

  Florald (gemstone): A gem that could be any shade of green. Grow like little beads around their vines. Known for its fragrance and healing capabilities. Used by greenfingers to channel Flora and control plant life.

  Florald (district): The second most recent district in the city, less than one century old. Lies beyond the lake to the north; only accessible by boat or swimming. Extremely large, about one-third of Troqua’s total space. Divided into farmlands and pastures. Inhabited mostly by cattle and farm animals. Troqua’s garden.

  G

  Gadria: The name of the kingdom composing multiple duchies, including Troqua, Kastrala, and more. Its capital is Ferrugh. The reigning king is Zakium III.

  Gafor Mirione: A fourteen-year-old boy. A friend of Nakais’s.

  Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

  Galec Neashure: A nineteen-year-old man. Heir of the Neashure Barony. A greenfingers. Twin of Remalea Neashure. Impossible to overstate his intelligence.

  Gateway (the): The cavernous hub that connect Troqua to the Mines and the Deeps. Thirty-seven tunnels branch out from it, one back to the city, while the rest connect to the Mines and Deeps. Full of shops, cafeterias, and constables. Seriously, there are so many constables here.

  Gemseed: A special gem that rarely manifests in gemcaches. Extremely brittle and considered priceless. Can be replanted to create new gemcaches, making them the foundations of gemfarms.

  Gemcache: A solitary cluster of magical gems or crystals in the Deeps. They grow inside the hardened walls through an unknown process. Prospectors claim that finding them require skill, but it's mostly persistence and luck. Lots of luck.

  Gemgarden: Multiple clusters of magical gems or crystals in the Deeps existing in the same cave or tunnel. Could be of the same or different kind. Extremely, unbelievably rare. Finding gemseeds here makes it a gemfarm.

  Gemfarm: A cave system in the Mines where magical gemstones are cultivated and harvested. It's basically a gemgarden with multiple gemseeds.

  Genma Maglo: A lieutenant of the Dawn Wardens. A stonemason.

  Geo: the strain of fantasia used by stonemasons to channel earth. Ubiquitous in the Deeps, causing petrification with prolonged exposure.

  Geodoise (gemstone): A hard brown gemstone that acts as a magnet for dirt particles. Used by stonemasons to channel Geo and control rocks.

  Geone Obtundril: A sixty-six-year-old man. Baron of house Obtundril. The oldest baron, and the most ruthless. A powerful mentalist.

  Geoxos (pl. Geoxii): An earth elexos. Lives in rocky fields named ‘growing grounds’, where the bigger individuals add mass to the smaller ones. Known for being territorial and its protective nature towards its kin. Extremely proficient at digging. If you find one, there are probably a hundred nearby.

  Gideom Moaine: A sixty-two-year-old mute man. A veteran of the Deeps. Skye’s savior and Deeps tutor. Smiles funny. A luminary.

  Green Eve: A festival in Troqua during which people hand out free fruits and candies. Originated while the city underwent a long famine. Happens every year on the ninth of Najury.

  Greenfingers: A channeler who utilizes Flora to control plant life. A naturalist.

  Growing Grounds: The barren fields where geoxii gather and take care of their young.

  H

  Heaven’s Door: The steel gates that separate Troqua from the surface. Connects the Radethyst and Solarite districts.

  Hidenea Neashure: A forty-eight-year-old woman. Baroness of house Neashure. Fond of food, flowers, and her family. A greenfingers.

  Hishtem Illisht I: The founding duke of Troqua. Died about eight centuries ago.

  Hishtem Illisht IX: A fifty-eight-year-old man. The duke of Troqua, commander of the constables and wardens, and the richest man in the city. Owner of the fabled Duke’s Road. Has ruled for over thirty years. Powers unknown.

  Hornetant: A breed of brown and yellow ants in the Deeps that’s known for its painful sting.

  I

  Icesculptor: A channeler who can utilize Cryo to control ice. An elementalist.

  Inma: The planet upon which Troqua exists.

  J

  Jay (Apparition): A skeleton in the dungeon underneath the wardens’ hidden library. Real identity unknown.

  Jella Medhar: A thirty-four-year-old woman. Doctor Stenser's wife, and Rierana’s mother. Loves children and works as a teacher.

  Joshem Tensho: A twenty-year-old man. A member of Skye’s prospecting team. Basalt’s younger brother. A windrider.

  K

  Ka’ib Lala Btal: A Zulmenquar bird. A sentient cosmic creature. An attendant of Master Ku. A shadowcaster and tenebrary.

  Kastrala: A duchy like Troqua, north of the Avyhandouse Mountains where the elexii are less present. Protected by great, magical walls. Ruled by Duke Dedrion.

  Kata: A special set of moves performed by channelers to recharge fantasia. Different move sets are used for different elements, fighting styles, and astra.

  Keeper (the): An ancient order of powerful channelers with unknown motives.

  Keeper of Heroes: See Ku Lala Btal.

  Keeper of Stars: A legendary keeper who once saved the dunya from those who stole the stars.

  Ku Lala Btal (the master): A tortoise-bear humanoid hermit. Lives in a treehouse in the Smaragdine Forest west of Troqua. Age unknown. The Keeper of Heroes, Legends, and Myths. A prism.

  L

  Lastin Haileux: A fifteen-year-old boy. A friend of Nakais’s.

  Lavashaper: A channeler who can utilize Magma to control lava. An elementalist.

  Liarna Lake: A vast lake to the southwest of Troqua at the end of the Cerulean River.

  Luccello Lala Btal: An aviriel bird. A sentient cosmic creature. An attendant of Master Ku. A luminary.

  Luminary: A channeler who can utilize Photo to control light. An etherealist.

  Lyonel Illyne: A fourteen-year-old orphan boy. Skye’s friend. Shy, reserved, and nerdy. Raised and taught by his brother Dray. An animator mentalist with a specialty to open locked things, albeit his abilities are weak.

  Library (Secret): The wardens’ hidden library. Rumored to be in the Deeps.

  Lightningeater: A channeler who can utilize Electro to control electricity. An elementalist.

  Lunaline (district): The smallest district in Troqua, and the wealthiest. The duke and barons live here in lavish palaces. Located at the center of Troqua. Lost its status as the barons' private playground with the expansion of Solarite District on the surface.

  Lunaline (gemstone): A rare gem with a lovely shimmer. Sparkles under moonlight.

  M

  Maiveux Meadrix: A fifty-four-year-old man. Baron of house Meadrix. Known for his giant size and skill as a stonemason. Hates the Alektoms.

  Magmacon (crystal): An extremely rare mineral that could be any shade between yellow and red. Touching it with bare hands causes severe burns. No, seriously, you need industrial-grade mittens to hold them. Highly unstable when uncut. Handle with caution unless you want to blow your face off. Used by firedancers and lavashapers to channel Pyro and Magma, controlling fire and lava respectively.

  Mazemaker: A legendary monster in the Deeps. Capable of shifting tunnels, imprisoning prospectors in an endless maze. Appearance unknown.

  Meadrix (Barony): One of the noble merchant houses of Troqua that constitute a Barony. They own a gemfarm under the city. Their sigil is comprised of gleaming geodoises carved in the shape of a cracked boulder. Rivals against the Alektoms. Led by baron Maiveux Meadrix.

  Meadrix (location): A gemfarm in the Mines owned by house Meadrix. The tunnels beneath it extend into the Deeps where they're open for prospectors to explore freely.

  Meelia Alektom: A thirty-six-year-old woman. Baroness of house Alektom. Nakais’s mother. An extremely powerful firedancer who’s known for besting Chief Akunai once in the arena. Hates the Meadrixes.

  Mentalist: The order of channelers whose powers relies on effects done by/to minds.

  Metalsmith: A channeler who can utilize Ferro to control metal. An elementalist.

  Mineralmander: A giant scaly lizard that dwells in the Deeps. Deadly and venomous. If you run into one in the Deeps, run faster than your companions.

  Miner: Someone who works in the Mines for the barons in exchange for a salary. Looked down upon by prospectors as cowards.

  Mines (the): The upper parts of the tunnel system under Troqua. Most of it is reserved by the barons, and sealed from prospectors. Considered safe compared to the Deeps.

  Mirio Dholbin: A twenty-one-year-old Dusk Warden. Fat and friendly. A powerful stonemason. Dray’s friend.

  Mjolin Nornir: A stormcaller mercenary. One of Master Ku's old student.

  Multi: A channeler who can wield three or more strains of fantasia. Extremely rare. Percentages vary by channeling class.

  N

  Nakais Alektom: A fifteen-year-old boy, second heir to the Alektom Barony. Likes to play pranks on Skye and his friends and to have his ugly face punched. Note: the 's' and 't' in his name are not silent at all! Make sure to pronounce them loud and clear, Nakais loves it!

  Naturalist: The order of channelers who can manipulate living matter.

  Neashure (Barony): One of the noble merchant houses of Troqua that constitute a Barony. They own a gemfarm under the city. Their sigil is comprised of aromatic jade floralds carved in the shape of a flower. Own large farmlands in Florald District as well.

  Neashure (location): A gemfarm in the Mines owned by house Neashure. It extends into the Deeps where its open for prospectors to explore freely.

  Necro: The strain of fantasia that’s used by deathseekers to control dead matter. Considered cursed.

  Neera: Master Ku’s late wife.

  Nemental: The blue sun of planet Inma. Shines on the northeastern hemisphere.

  O

  Obtundril (Barony): One of the noble merchant houses of Troqua. They own a gemfarm under the city. Their sigil is comprised of glistening psychosites carved in the shape of a brain.

  Obtundril (location): A gemfarm in the Mines owned by house Obtundril. It extends into the Deeps where its open for prospectors to explore freely.

  Omni: A legendary strain of fantasia that can morph into all other strains.

  Oneirolian (crystal): A magical crystal not found in Troqua. Used by mentalists to control Psycho at an advanced level.

  P

  Pairi Papilary: A feyfeather bird. A sentient cosmic creature. An attendant of Master Ku. A prism.

  Petrify (to): The side-effects of Geo contamination. Affects anyone who treads through Geo-dense areas like the Deeps, especially channelers. Like all contamination effects, it regresses on its own with time. Prolonged exposure makes some effects permanent. Extreme exposure causes death.

  Photrine (district): A middle-class residential district at the southwest of Troqua. Houses workers who mostly labor in other districts. The Medhars lives here. A nice place for families, mostly.

  Photrine (gemstone): A fragile gem that glows with faint silvery light. Looks like a shining pearl. Used by luminaries to channel Photo and control light.

  Prospector: Someone who roams the Deeps, searching for gemstones. A very dangerous profession. Looked down upon by miners as reckless and greedy.

  Psycho: the strain of fantasia that’s used by mentalists to control minds.

  Psychosite (crystal): A mineral that reflects light like an insect's compound eyes. Used by mentalists to control Psycho.

  Psychoxos: A mentalist elexos. A myth.

  Prism: A channeler who can control (almost) every strain of fantasia, and (possibly) has access to Omni.

  Pyro: the strain of fantasia that’s used by firedancers to control fire.

  Pyrpphire (district): Troqua’s industrial district, brimming with factories and smithies. Also, full of artisans who specialize in magical gemcraft. Located at the northeast part of the city.

  Pyrpphire (gemstone): A red gem that exude heat when stimulated. Used in many industries and for various house appliances, like stoves and heaters. Don't drop them unless you want to be trialed for arson. Used by firedancers to channel Pyro and control fire.

  Pyroxos (pl. Pyroxii): A fire elexos. Known for its berserk nature and unstoppable charges. Its fiery body is trapped in a rocky frame, making it the only known elexos whose body is composed of more than one element.

  R

  Radethyst (mineral): A white crystal that radiates bright light. Used by luminaries and specialists to channel Radio and Photo and control light. Doctors warn against using them for some stupid reason; they're super bright!

  Radethyst (district): Located at the southeast of Troqua. Famous for housing the city’s schools and connecting it to Heaven’s Door which leads into Solarite District on the surface.

  Redeyes (bat): A misshapen bat that lives in the dungeon underneath the wardens’ hidden library.

  Redeyes (Phantom): An imaginary pyroxos that haunts Skye.

  Reloux Rikal (Baron): Head of house Rikal. A secretive and mysterious man.

  Remalea Neashure: A nineteen-year-old woman. Heiress to the Neashure Barony. A.K.A Rema. A greenfingers. Twin of Galec Neashure and as intelligent.

  Rico Chico Lala Btal: A thirteen-year-old cockatoo griffin. A sentient cosmic creature. A student of Master Ku. A fleshmaster and full elementalist.

  Rierana Medhar: A fourteen-year-old girl. Skye’s friend. Cheerful, kind, and hardworking. A great cook too!

  Rikal (Barony): One of the noble merchant houses of Troqua that constitute a Barony. They own a gemfarm under the city. Their sigil is comprised of shadowy umberzuli carved in the shape of a skull.

  Rikal (location): A gemfarm in the Mines owned by house Rikal.

  Rockmole: Moles proficient at digging through the contaminated stones of the Deeps. Known for setting traps for larger prey.

  Royal Warden: See Dawn Warden.

  S

  Sandadillo: Armadillo-like creatures with minor stonemason and sandsurfing capabilities that dwell in the Deeps. Hunts larger prey by sinking them in quicksand whirlpools. Annoying for experienced prospectors. For inexperienced ones, they're deadly.

  Sandsurfer: A channeler who can utilize Suna to control sand. An elementalist.

  Scar (the): A deep pitch-black chasm that bisects Troqua. Legend says it’s bottomless, that it connects to the Void.

  Shroom: Magic mushroom that release hallucinogens when burned. Users smoke them in pipes or even censers. Dozens of types exist, each with its unique effects. Most are addictive. Illegal in Troqua, yet highly sought. Dealers like to offer free samples.

  Shroomi: Someone addicted to magical shrooms.

  Shury Meadrix: A forty-year-old woman. Baroness of house Meadrix. Known for her small frame and cutting wit. An acidspitter.

  Sether Sarthalone: A lieutenant of the Dawn Wardens. A greenfingers.

  Shadowcasters: A channeler who can channel Umbra to control shadows. An etherealist.

  Shiema: A coastal town to the northwest of Kastrala. Ruled by Countess Haima.

  Shyso Tarkan: A lieutenant of the Dawn Wardens. A windrider.

  Skye: A fourteen-year-old boy who dreams of exploring the world. Seven months before the start of the story, he awoke naked and alone in the Deeps, with no recollection of how he got there, or of his past.

  Smaragdine Forest: The forest that surrounds Troqua. Stretches for miles in every direction. Home to the elexii.

  Solarite (district): The only surface district of Troqua. Owned and run by the barons.

  Solarite (gemstone): An extremely rare gemstone, with magical light that can penetrate almost anything. Its explosion is legendary, capable of blinding people momentarily in a great radius. The punishment for blowing one up is death.

  Sonolar (gemstone): A yellow gem used for amplifying sounds, or remote communication. Releases a thunder-like boom when they explode. Used by thunderstrikers to channel Sono.

  Specialist: The order of channelers who don’t conform to any other order, or have too specific powers.

  Spikeback: A wild-dog like creature that dwells in the Deeps, with razor-sharp spines protruding from their backs. Hunts in packs. Will shoot its spikes if cornered. If you can hear their howling, they can smell you.

  Starmoire: A mysterious grimoire asterism with inconceivable power. Created by the Keeper of Stars.

  Stonepecker: A small brown bird with a golden crown of soft feathers. Its beak is so strong, it drills its nest into stones.

  Tarian Alektom: A thirty-nine-year-old man. Baron of house Alektom. Nakais’s father. Known for his luck and cunning. A dud. Hates the Meadrixes.

  Taris Varian: A thirteen-year-old boy. A friend of Nakais’s.

  Tenebrary: A channeler who can utilize Tenebra to control darkness. An etherealist.

  Thunderstriker: A channeler who can utilize Sono to control sound waves. An elementalist.

  Thyelloxos: A storm elexos. Exceedingly rare. Roams the skies pretending to be a fluffy cloud until it sees a worthy prey. Arrogant and tempestuous. (New)

  Tidebreaker: A channeler who can utilize Aqua to control water. An elementalist.

  Triangular Pit (the): A triangular shaped chasm that connects to the Void, similar to the Scar. Located in the Deeps.

  Troqua: An underground city in the kingdom of Gadria. A duchy. Founded almost 800 years ago and has been under siege by elexii ever since. Grand and majestic, but alas, never gets any visitors.

  Troquean Hideout: A hidden station in the Smaragdine Forest on the way to Kastrala where the exchange of gems and goods happens.

  Trune: The sixth month of the year.

  Twilight Warden: A secretive order of wardens, tasked with intelligence in Troqua. Few in number. Reports to Chief Emery Illisht. Their insignia is sword-pen hybrid.

  Tybur Terone: A twenty-year-old Dusk Warden. A windrider.

  U

  Umberzuli (gemstone): a black gem capable of warping shadows. Used in theaters for plays, and by thieves for... let's not hand out ideas. Used by shadowcasters to channel Umbra and control shadows.

  Umbragna: The shadow realm. A world of darkness accessible to shadowcasters. Made up of stacked levels of increasing darkness.

  Vaesh Neashure: A forty-six-year-old man. Baron of house Neashure. Fond of gems, fancy clothes, and himself. A greenfingers.

  Varick Shamoun: A forty-six-year-old man. A senior scholar in Troqua, and renowned mentalist.

  Void (the): The pitch-black bottom of the pits around Troqua. Many myths revolve around it. Considered cursed and endless.

  Voidsnake: A venomous serpent that dwells in the Deeps. Don't let it bite you, and most certainly, don't bit it!

  W

  Warden: The soldiers that protect Troqua from elexii. Conduct weekly routine runs to trade gems for supplies with the nearest city Kastrala by dropping their cargo at a preset location. Divided into three corps: Dawn Wardens, Dusk Wardens, and Twilight Wardens.

  Warden Academy: A school in Radethyst District in Troqua. The best and biggest in the city. Expensive and prestigious.

  Windrider: A channeler who can utilize Aero to control winds. An elementalist.
