“Good fight out there, Vis. I see you finally managed to take advantage of my gift in the battle.”
Vis regards the man sitting with his feet up on the table and replies, “Yes, Teacher. It truly is everything you claimed it to be, even if I'm still learning.”
The man referred to as Teacher stands up from his chair and steps up to Vis, grabbing his shattered hand. A soft glow envelops it and the skin writhes visibly as the bones move back into place, regenerating. Vis grunts in pain, the battle fever having worn off. The other man speaks again.
“Your next fight won't be for a week, and I have something vital lined up after. I won't spoil the surprise, however.”
Vis nods.
“I presume the woman I fought is not here, but in a hospital,” he says, chuckling. “Serves her right. Such a weakling looking down on our strength is laughable.”
His teacher does not respond to what he says directly, but changes the subject.
“All you need to do for the next week is train. Oh, yes, a servant will be delivering a special item to you within a few days. Look out for that. It is now time for me to take my leave, seeing you are healed and raring to practise.”
Vis watches as the man smiles and walks out through the door, leaving him alone.
He flexes his regenerated fist and repeats the punching motion he ended the combat with a few times, punctuating the imaginary impact with non-verbal vocalisation. After a few minutes, he decides he has had enough and steps over to a large chest.
He opens it and rummages through a huge variety of weapons and tools, taking out a mace. The warrior walks through to another room, this one entirely empty save for a humanoid dummy in the centre of the room. Approaching it and placing his hand on its head, he speaks.

“Activate physical training, level seven. Weapon: longsword”
The figure’s arm lurches directly for Vis’ chest with a newly visible sword. He deflects it with the shaft of his mace, stepping back as he prepares for another battle.
A muted knocking sound wakes Vis up. Despite his exhaustion from the past few days of intensive physical training, he is as attentive as ever. Climbing out of his bed, already dressed from having not changed the night before, he opens the door. A young man stands holding a nondescript wooden box.
“I-I have a delivery…” he stammers, looking up at the colossal frame of the man, who takes it with a grin on his face.
“Thanks! I'm gonna enjoy whatever this is,” he remarks before closing the door and taking the box to his table.
Opening the box, he sees a pair of leather bracers, causing him to frown.
“I'm not an archer. Why would he get me these?”
Taking them out, he decides to put them on anyway. After doing so, he notices them create an ever-so-faint magical pull on his arms. A smile tugs at the corner of his mouth.
“Of course he would do something like this.”
He takes a short sword from his storage chest and infuses a small amount of mana into the bracers. The sword in his hand disappears.
Vis lets out a surprised laugh.
“Is there a limit?”
An axe, a spear and even his greatsword enter next. He also tries to put in a katar, but the mana refuses to enter the bracers, dissipating into the atmosphere.
“Now. How do I take them out?” he wonders. Trying various methods, like searching for any kind of button or attempting to draw mana from them, he can't get anything to work. Then, he hits the bracers together. Just below his right hand, the greatsword materialises instantly, falling to the ground with a crash. Vis nods to himself, doing this two more times, trying and failing to catch the weapon each time.
“This will need some practice, but the opportunities are incredible,” he notes.
And so he spends the next couple of hours getting used to his new artifact, finally grabbing the weapons consistently by the end.
With a greatsword, war hammer and spear stored, he returns to the training room.
“Activate physical training, level four. Weapon: Arming sword and buckler.”
The dummy springs to life once more and Vis begins training the newest technique in his arsenal- weapon swapping.
