Chapter 33 { What was Happened }

  Chapter 33

  { What was Happened }

“Cerberus… here… but how?” Ian asked.

“Hm… to tell the truth, I don’t know. All I managed to discover is that the gate is a link between life and death.”

“A link between life and death?” Ian did not understand.

“Hah… I mean that this place is another world, and Cerberus is its guardian,” Dooby said firmly. “The World of Death.”

Ian trembled. “Impossible.” He looked around… everything was alive… the sounds of monsters… birds… all of it.

“I know what you mean, but the World of Death is not death as you imagine it; it is a complete other life. The problem is that only the dead can enter it, but you and I are alive… and the living cannot enter here… and the worst part is life that is born here.”

  “You mean your daughter!”

“Yes,” Dooby sighed. “To tell the truth, we can all leave. We do not belong to this world, and the guardian (Cerberus) will not stop us. But Lisa cannot. This place is her world. She inherited part life and part death… and that is why she cannot leave.”

  “Ever?”

“Ever,” Dooby sighed. “That is what I learned.”

“Then what is this matter about sacrificing one?” Ian asked.

“It’s simple… a deal with the guardian… one dies so that the other lives.” Dooby looked upward. “Either me or her, and the other stays with Lisa, with shattered emotions.”

“And what if we kill the guardian?”

“Kill him… with your feeble strength?” Dooby looked at Ian mockingly. “Even I couldn’t—so how could you?”

  “What is your level?”

Dooby ignored the question. “The problem isn’t the guardian’s power, but the law of the World of Death… death in exchange for life… no debate.”

  RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!

A powerful scream appeared like the roar of the sky.

The world darkened, and hearts felt fear.

Dooby was startled and stood up hastily. “The guardian… why is he coming out of his lair?”

Noor and Lisa appeared beside the duo in an instant, their expressions dangerous.

The legendary dog descended from the sky before the group.

Tyrannical in its size and aura.

A body as tall as hills.

  Three savage heads.

A ghostly aura and a scorching aura surrounded it, as if it had come from hell itself.

An awe-inspiring pressure bore down on the three.

The Legend of Weakness: When facing an enemy stronger than you, you will not feel weakness.

Ian stood there, imposing, under the dangerous gazes of the three.

  RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!

  Cerberus unleashed another roar.

Its aura was raging and thirsty for killing, and the sense of death enveloped everyone.

It would be a deadly battle. Dooby thought, and used telepathy to speak to Noor.

“Noor… I’ll stop him. Take Lisa and run.”

“Who are you to decide for me, you bastard?” Noor shouted.

Telepathy was a common skill at higher levels, allowing thoughts to be transmitted without being traced or deciphered.

“Listen to what I’m saying,” Dooby ordered.

“No. I’ll live remembering your damned face and cry over you… this won’t happen… leave… my daughter loves you more than me anyway,” Noor replied.

“Noor… this is not the time,” Dooby shouted.

“Shut up now and bring out all your strength… the Guardian did not come here with good intentions.”

Dooby nodded, and danger spread across his entire body.

He understood the power of the creature before him and how it was in the World of Death.

The World of Death had granted it infinite power, and it itself was overwhelmingly oppressive.

This battle’s outcome was defeat… and its outcome was eternal death. But at least he would do the impossible to distract this beast for a few seconds so that his wife and daughter could escape.

As for Ian… no one cared about him.

His existence had no value to begin with. Just another insect.

But suddenly Ian smiled and raised his hand. “Bow.”

His voice drew the attention of the three, and their eyes bulged as they saw the ferocious Cerberus bow its head—no, bow its three heads, each one the size of Ian or larger.

Cerberus bowed its three heads and allowed Ian to play with it.

  “Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!” Dooby screamed.

He had seen many legends and miracles before. He himself was a legend and had done many things hard to believe. But what he was seeing now shattered all his concepts and his mind.

But… it did not stop there, as Ian said, “Do you want to follow me?”

Noor almost died when she heard those words…

An ant addressing a king and telling him to follow it… the ant is the one saying this… and worse, the king agrees…

  What nonsense is this…

Cerberus nodded, then suddenly opened its mouth and swallowed the group.

“Don’t worry… this is the correct path,” Ian smiled and disappeared inside the mouth of the gigantic beast.

As for Lisa, she looked at her father and mother, asking them with her eyes… isn’t this monster… a monster? Why was it behaving like a cat or a mouse?

  In the present.

“I will give this order for the first and last time. In my absence… Prime Minister Yora will be responsible for the village, and everyone must follow her. Understood?” Ian said.

“At your command, my lord,” everyone bowed.

“Good. Everyone return to your duties,” Ian ordered.

At that moment, Tory approached and said anxiously, “My lord… may I have a minute with you?”

Ian nodded. “What is the matter?”

“That man… did he say his name was Domino?”

  Ian nodded. “Yes.”

“My lord… there aren’t many with that name. In fact, there is only one… Domino Dooby… the legendary thief known as the Silver Hand… this man has looted the treasuries of half the cities of the Forest of Horrors… it is even said that he stole a treasure from one of the kingdoms… a treasure capable of igniting wars…”

  “What treasure?” Ian was startled.

“A Hero Summoning Stone,” Tory said, recalling the stories. “That man is a living legend… everyone is looking for him and wants him… merely knowing that you are in contact with him will bring disasters upon you.”

Ian was shocked. He looked at the item in his hand, and his face turned pale.
