Prologue — The Fall of Hamikoe

  AETHERION

  T?z.

  Vihar.

  Id?.

Számtalan koron át tartott a béke.

  A csillagok m?g?tti s?tétségb?l…

  a Mélység seregei leereszkedtek.

Démonok hullottak az égb?l, mint él? árnyékok.

  Szárnyaik elnyelték a napfényt.

  Sikolyaik megremegtették a hegyeket.

Sárkányok emelkedtek fel, hogy találkozzanak velük.

  Háborúba borult az ég.

T?z és villám hasított a felh?kbe, megint ?si lények csaptak ?ssze a világ felett.

A városok ?sszeomlottak a csata dühe alatt.

  Hamikoe vége elkezd?d?tt.

Magasan a csatatér felett egy hatalmas smaragdz?ld sárkány vágott át a vihart.

  Aetherion.

Smaragdz?ld t?z égett a torkában, akkor a démon légióira csapott.

Ahol lángjai az eget érték, a s?tétség hamuvá változott.

  De nem volt egyedül.

A mellette lév?

  Azrathar.

  Az árnyék ?rz?je.

Ahol Aetherion smaragdz?ld tüze elpusztította a démonokat, Azrathar ereje felfalta ?ket.

  árnyéklándzsák hasítottak az égen.

  Démonok zuhantak sikoltozva a mélybe.

Számtalan koron át harcolt a két ?r egymás mellett.

  Fény és árnyék.

Két er? tartotta fenn a világ egyensúlyát.

Egy pillanatra találkozott a tekintetük a viharban.

  Szavakra nem volt szükség.

  Mindketten megértették az igazságot.

  A háborús elfedett.

  Alattuk Elyndar hatalmas kristályvárosa lángolt.

  és a falai k?z?tt…

  Aetherion családja várt.

  Elyndar bukása

Elyndar kristályvárosa lángolt a háborúval teli ég alatt.

Fehér kristálytornyok omlottak ?ssze, ahogy démonok s?p?rtek végig az utcákon. T?z terjedt át a hidakon, melyek egykor ?sszek?t?tték a város fényes tornyait.

Hamikoe népe ?sszeomló csarnokokon és bet?rt kapukon menekült.

A város felett még mindig sárkányok harcoltak.

De a csata már elveszett volt.

Az ég? égen keresztül két kolosszális sárkány ereszkedett alá.

  Smaragdz?ld fény hasított át a füst?n.

  árnyék k?vette.

  Aetherion.

  és mellette

  Azrathar.

A két ?r Elyndar adja tornyán szállt le.

Hatalmas formáik megremegtették alattuk a kristályszerkezetet.

Egy pillanatig egyikük sem szólt semmit.

  Mindketten érezték.

  The world was dying.

Azrathar looked toward the horizon where endless demon armies poured from the sky.

“The rift grows wider,” he said quietly.

  Aetherion did not answer.

His eyes were fixed on the palace below.

Inside that palace waited the two beings he loved more than the world itself.

  Elyndra.

  And their child.

  Azrathar followed his gaze.

“The city will fall within the hour.”

  Aetherion’s voice was calm.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

  “I know.”

  Azrathar studied him.

  “You should leave this place.”

  “Take them and escape.”

  Aetherion slowly shook his head.

“There is nowhere left to escape to.”

Below them the palace gates exploded as demons burst into the outer courtyards.

The screams of soldiers echoed through the city.

  Azrathar spread his wings.

  “Then we hold them here.”

  Aetherion finally looked at him.

For a moment the two guardians simply stared at each other.

  Not as warriors.

  But as brothers.

“You always were stubborn,” Azrathar said.

  Aetherion allowed the faintest smile.

  “And you always stayed.”

Without another word the two dragons leapt from the tower.

They crashed into the demon armies like falling stars.

Emerald fire devoured entire ranks of demons.

Azrathar’s shadows tore through the battlefield like living blades.

The courtyard became a storm of destruction.

  For a moment

  hope returned.

  But then something changed.

A massive demon creature broke through the palace gates.

  Behind it came dozens more.

  And then hundreds.

The army of the Abyss had reached Elyndar.

  And inside the palace…

a small child watched the sky burn.

  The Guardian of Shadow.

But in that moment he was not a warrior.

  He was simply a teacher.

  And something more.

  The boy’s eyes lit up.

  “Uncle Azrathar!”

He ran toward him without hesitation.

Azrathar caught him easily and lifted him into the air.

“You still refuse to give up, I see.”

  The boy smiled proudly.

“I will be stronger than father one day.”

  Azrathar raised an eyebrow.

  “That is a dangerous ambition.”

The boy pointed toward the sky visible through the crystal windows.

“I want to fly like him.”

  Azrathar followed his gaze.

Far above the city, the distant shapes of dragons circled in the clouds.

Then Azrathar looked back at the child.

  “You will.”

  He said it quietly.

  But with certainty.

At the far end of the chamber, another figure watched them.

  Elyndra.

Her long silver-gold hair fell across her shoulders as she leaned against one of the crystal pillars.

There was warmth in her eyes.

“You are spoiling him,” she said softly.

  Azrathar turned slightly.

“That is the privilege of a godfather.”

  The boy looked between them.

  “What is a godfather?”

Azrathar lowered him to the ground again.

  “A promise.”

  The boy tilted his head.

  “What kind of promise?”

Azrathar knelt so his eyes were level with the child’s.

“The kind that says I will protect you.”

The boy thought about that for a moment.

  Then he smiled again.

  “You already do.”

For a brief moment the war outside the city seemed very far away.

  But suddenly

  the ground shook.

A distant explosion echoed through the palace halls.

Azrathar’s head turned sharply toward the window.

The sky above Elyndar had turned black.

The demon armies had reached the city.

And the war had finally arrived.

  The Fall of the Palace

The tremor that shook the palace did not stop.

Another explosion echoed through the halls.

Crystal chandeliers shattered and crashed to the marble floor.

  Azrathar was already moving.

His wings unfolded behind him as his eyes turned toward the palace gates.

“They have broken through the outer walls,” he said quietly.

  Elyndra’s expression hardened.

  “How long?”

  Azrathar did not answer immediately.

His gaze remained fixed on the sky.

  “…Minutes.”

  The child looked between them.

For the first time fear appeared in his eyes.

  “Mother…?”

Elyndra knelt and pulled him into her arms.

  “It will be alright.”

But her voice carried a tension she could not hide.

  Another explosion shook the palace.

The doors at the far end of the chamber burst open.

  Royal guards rushed inside.

“My lady!” one of them shouted.

“The demons have entered the palace!”

  Azrathar stepped forward.

“Take the prince to the lower chambers.”

  But the guard hesitated.

  “They are already there.”

  The chamber fell silent.

  Azrathar’s eyes darkened.

The demons had moved faster than expected.

Then a roar echoed through the halls.

  Not human.

  Not dragon.

  Something far worse.

  The guards raised their weapons.

  The doors exploded inward.

The first demon crashed into the chamber.

Its body was massive and twisted, covered in black armor-like scales.

  Two more followed.

  Then ten.

  The battle began instantly.

The palace guards threw themselves forward.

Steel clashed against claws and burning shadow.

  Azrathar moved like a storm.

Shadow erupted from his body as he tore through the demons with brutal precision.

  But more kept coming.

  Far too many.

Elyndra stood and pulled the child behind her.

Her hands ignited with golden energy.

She was not merely a queen.

She was a guardian of the ancient bloodline.

Light burst from her palms as the first demon lunged toward them.

The creature screamed as her power struck it.

But another demon crashed through the ceiling above them.

It landed directly between her and the child.

  Azrathar turned instantly.

  “Elixar!”

But he was too far away.

  The demon raised its claw.

  The strike came fast.

  Too fast.

  Elyndra threw herself forward.

The blow pierced straight through her chest.

  The chamber froze.

  Elixar screamed.

The demon pulled its claw free.

  Elyndra collapsed to the floor.

  Azrathar reached them seconds later.

Shadow exploded outward, ripping the demon apart.

But it was already too late.

Elyndra lay motionless on the marble floor.

The child ran to her side.

  “Mother!”

  He shook her shoulder desperately.

  But she did not move.

  Azrathar stood over them.

For the first time in thousands of years…

  he felt helpless.

Then another shadow fell over the chamber.

  More demons entered.

And the palace of Elyndar began to die.

  The Last Light of Hamikoe

The palace of Elyndar was falling.

The once shining halls were now filled with smoke, fire, and the screams of dying soldiers.

Demons flooded through the broken doors like a living tide.

Azrathar fought at the center of the chamber.

Shadow erupted from his body as he tore through the creatures one after another.

But even he could not stop them all.

  There were too many.

Behind him, the small boy still knelt beside Elyndra’s body.

  “Elixar…”

  Azrathar spoke the name quietly.

  The child did not answer.

  He was shaking Elyndra’s shoulder.

  “Mother… wake up…”

  Another demon lunged toward him.

  Azrathar moved instantly.

Shadow cut the creature in half before it could reach the boy.

  But more demons followed.

  One slipped past Azrathar’s defense.

Its claw swept toward the child.

  Azrathar turned

  too late.

  The strike hit.

The boy’s small body was thrown across the chamber.

He struck the marble floor hard.

  “Elixar!”

  Azrathar rushed forward.

  The child lay still.

Blood spread slowly across the white stone.

Azrathar dropped to one knee beside him.

For the first time in countless ages…

fear entered the Guardian of Shadow’s heart.

Above the palace, the sky exploded.

An emerald firestorm tore through the clouds.

  The demons looked upward.

A colossal dragon descended from the heavens.

  Aetherion.

His emerald fury shook the sky itself.

The dragon crashed through the palace roof like a falling star.

  Flames erupted across the chamber.

Every demon in the room was instantly burned to ash.

The emerald dragon landed beside Azrathar.

His massive body filled the broken hall.

Aetherion’s gaze fell upon the floor.

  Elyndra.

  And beside her

  the child.

  The dragon did not move.

The world seemed to hold its breath.

Slowly, painfully, Aetherion’s massive form began to change.

  Emerald light surrounded him.

  The dragon form dissolved.

Moments later a tall figure stood where the dragon had been.

  Aetherion.

He walked toward them in silence.

  Azrathar stepped back.

  Aetherion knelt beside Elyndra first.

His hand trembled as he touched her face.

But there was no life left.

Then he turned to the child.

  “Elixar…”

  His voice broke.

  Azrathar spoke quietly.

  “I tried to reach him.”

  Aetherion did not answer.

He lifted the small body into his arms.

For a moment the entire palace seemed silent.

  Then the sky outside roared.

  The war still raged.

The world of Hamikoe was dying.

  And Aetherion knew the truth.

  Nothing could save it.

  Except one thing.

  He slowly turned toward Azrathar.

“There is only one path left.”

  Azrathar’s eyes narrowed.

  “You cannot mean”

  But Aetherion already knew.

He looked down at the child in his arms.

Then at Elyndra lying on the floor.

  The decision was made.

  “I will become the crystal.”

The Birth of the Emerald Crystal

  The palace had fallen silent.

Smoke drifted through the shattered halls of Elyndar.

The bodies of demons lay scattered across the broken marble floor.

  But outside the palace…

  the war still raged.

  Azrathar stood beside Aetherion.

For a long moment neither of them spoke.

Aetherion still held the child in his arms.

The small body felt impossibly light.

  Azrathar finally broke the silence.

“The rift above the world is still open.”

  His voice was low.

  “More demons will come.”

Aetherion slowly looked toward the sky visible through the destroyed ceiling.

The darkness above Hamikoe was spreading.

  A Mélység seregei végtelenek voltak.

  Azrathar csendben folytatta.

  Aztán a karjában lév? gyermekre.

  Valami elt?rt benne.

  Aztán a smaragdz?ld fény er?s?dni kezdett.

  ?Aetherion…”

  A fény gyorsan terjedt.

  A palotában remegett a leveg?.

  ?Mit csinálsz?”

  Aetherion végre szólt.

  ?A k?telezettségem.”

  A smaragdz?ld energia kiáradt.

  ?si er? vihara t?rt el? a testéb?l.

  Elyndar egész városa remegni kezdett.

A világ felett maga az ég remegett.

  A szakadék kezdett bezárulni.

Egyenként taszították ?ket vissza a mélységbe.

  Azrathar d?bbent csendben figyelte.

Még soha nem látott ekkora hatalmat.

  De a k?ltségeket is megértette.

  Aetherion még utoljára fordult felé.

  ?Védd meg, ami megmaradt.”

  Azrathar tekintete megkeményedett.

  ?Meg fogom teniszezni.”

  Aztán Aetherion lenézett a gyermekre.

  Egy pillanatra remegett a keze.

  ?Nem hagyhatom, hogy elt?nj.”

  A smaragdz?ld fény k?rül?lelte a fiú testét.

  Nem hús.

  Nem csont.

  De valami mélyebb.

  Egy lélek.

  Aetherion lehunyta a szemet.

  ?Magammal viszlek.”

A smaragdz?ld vihar egyre fényesebben ragyogott.

A fény beborította az egész palotát.

  Aztán elkezd?d?tt az átalakulás.

Aetherion teste tiszta smaragdz?ld energiává oldódott.

  Az er? ?sszetartó s?vény.

  Megszilárdult.

  Kristályosodott.

  Elyndar romvárosának k?zpontjában…

  egy hatalmas smaragdkristály született.

  Aetherion utolsó maradványa.

  és ?r?k fényében…

  a gyermek lelke még aludt.

  Várakozás.

Egy id?re, messze a világok bukásán túl.
