Revealing the system menu

  Chapter 16

Titan folded his arms across his chest. “You have a PhD in magic and your smart. Does the class system analyze behavior patterns or combat reactions to a situation?”

Glenda smiled. “All known data points to both. The system within the dungeon dimensional space also increases the best effects out of the dungeon crawler.”

Titan stared at her. “Why are the Psi hunting me?” He asked.

Glenda straightened up. “Reveal your system menu to me.”

Titan frowned but he shrugged. He held out his hand. “System Menu reveal.” He said.

Titan grimaced. “Just like I thought. I haven’t gone up that much in terms of power. No use looking at these numbers.”

Caroline stared at his system, eyes wide in surprise. “He doesn’t have a rank level.”

Glenda smiled. “He’s not operating under the magical system format. His ranking system is in his skill set.”

“I’m still sitting at level six and my health and focus are still too low.” Titan said.

Caroline shook her head. “Your passive skills honey.” She said.

  “What about them?” Titan said.

“They don’t have rank or level number. Are they always active?” Caroline asked.

“Yes. When my focus is up and I am in good health.” Titan said.

“Amazing. Putting all your skills combined it will be interesting to see what you evolve into for your final stage.” Caroline said.

“Just as long as I get paid along the way. Glenda. You didn’t answer my question.” Titan said.

Glenda nodded her head. “There are twenty thousand Psi in the world. Fifty high level known Psi in five known regions of the world. Lastly there is one known Psi that stands above them all.” She said.

  “Go on!” Titan said.

“The Psi stand on their own level. They grow stronger in battles in dungeons and by killing other Psi.” Glenda said.

Titan smiled. “I’m not interested in proving how big my balls are. I’m in this game for the money and the Rush.”

Glenda’s lips curved into an attractive smile. “Yes. There is one man that stands at the top position of the Psi. He is the most powerful person on planet. He has no rival.”

Titan smiled. “So what? I don’t care about this dude. I doubt he even knows who I am.”

Glenda giggled. “Wrong. He knows who you are.”

Titan rolled his eyes. “Some old asshole heard about me and he wants to fight me?”

Glenda smiled at him. “It was told to me when he met you and you left an impression on him. He liked you enough to make you his official heir.”

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

Titan stared at her. “What’s his name?”

  “Garret Wade.” She said.

“Garret! Shit. I fucking knew it.” Titan said.

Caroline froze and stared at him. “Titan. You met Wade? How? When?”

Titan shook his head. “I met him a couple days ago. He gave me a ride to Glenda’s office. Why the fuck did this dude get me involved in this shit.”

Glenda shook her head. “You were already discovered by the Psi. He named you his heir because he saw you have what it takes to be the strongest.”

Titan shook his head. “Fuck that shit.”

Glenda chuckled. “You are advancing fast. Do you remember the last dungeon?”

Titan frowned. “Of course. The tower greed. Except for dealing with those fire wizards and that Psi asshole it was fun.” He said.

Glenda and Caroline stared at him. Titan frowned.

  “What?”

“How did you find the dagger?” Glenda asked.

“The magic in the dagger gave off a wind chime sound and energy. I followed the sound and energy. Easy work but the hard part was I had to steal it from that big son of a bitch fire wizard.” Titan said.

Caroline covered her face as she began to laugh quietly.

Glenda stared at him. “How is that possible? How can the dagger have a sound?” She said.

Titan folded his fingers together in his lap. “All magic has a color and leaves behind an essence of a scent or sound from what I have noticed.”

  “Go on.” Glenda said.

“I would say the magic in the dagger produced a sound because it was getting close to its twin. You would know. Can an object that has been infused with magic become semi-sentrant?”

“Yes. Magic breathes life or elemental energy into humans as well as objects. So whoever crafted the magic and infused that magic in the daggers made them alive. Brillant.” Glenda said.

Titan nodded. “See. I told you that you would know better than me.” He said.

Glenda stared and then blinked. Her lips formed a slow grin. “Thank you for the compliment.”

“I’m up and I feel ready to work.” Titan said.

Both Glenda and Caroline gentle pushed him back down.

Glenda stared at him. “Yes you will be working on the guild budget and other business matters you have put off.”

Titan stared and he grimaced. “Shit. I forgot about that. I need to get on the budget and look over possible business investments we can make.”

Caroline nodded. “Charlie left behind some spread sheets for you to look at about the bar and past business expenses. He needs you to get on looking through them for a few days.”

Titan let out a breath. “Alright. Bring them to me. I need to get going with the shit. I am way behind on getting that business stuff done.”

Glenda got up. “I’ll have to take my leave.” She said.

“Yeah. I’ll see you later. We’re still on for that coffee date, right?” He said.

Glenda nodded her head. “Yes. You know where to find me. Mr. Young. I'll be waiting.” She said and disappeared golde light flames.

Titan looked at his mother. “What do you think of her? Glenda’s pretty amazing isn’t she.” He said.

Caroline smiled at him. “Yes. She is pretty as well as smart.” She said.

“Yeah. I really like her. I’ll get to know her more. But, I think I’m going to marry her.” He said.

Caroline stared at him. “I think you know her far better than you think you do. I’ll get you the stuff Charlie left for you to look at.” She said and got up and left the room.

Titan glared at his breakfast tray. “What the hell are you doing here?”

Darious Wade sat down in a chair by Titan’s bed. He was dressed in a black suit with black tie loose around his collar.

“You should be rested. Why do you sound so pissed?” Darious said.

Titan sighed. “I’m pissed because you involved me in some bullshit Psi crap with idiots coming to my house to get their asses kicked in.” He said.

Darious had his mouth open. “How is this shit my fault? I didn’t tell those young wolves to come at you and your family. This is all you buddy.”

“Get the fuck out of here bro.” Titan said.

“No. I’m serious. You my friend are in denial about being the new rising power in the world. The next new king of the Psi.”

Titan stared at him until Darious smiled at him. Warm laughter was in Darious’ eyes as he looked at Titan.

“You are so full of shit. You can’t even say that shit with a straight face. Why do I have to be involved in this shit? I’m a regular guy.” Titan said.

Darious looked at him pointing a finger at him. “Now that is bullshit. You are not average.”

“What the fuck am I then old man.” Titan said.

“You are Titan Young. If you want to protect who you love then you will evolve and become what is needed. Winners are Kings and losers complain about the game.” Darious said calmly.

Titan stared at him. “I agree. I’m playing for the win. Fuck anyone that gets in my way.” He said.

Darious laughed and clapped his hands. “That’s it. That’s what a king is.” He said and disappeared.

Caroline and Kristy came into his room with file boxes of hard copy business spreadsheets. He sighed and waved them over. “Alright let’s get to it. Kristy. How was school?”

Kristy was quietly staring at him frowning as their mother put the first box on the bed. Titan was taking out papers at the same time looking up at her.

“What’s wrong you had a bad day at school?” He said and then he looked around.

“What are looking for honey?” Caroline asked.

“I need my pen and calculator. I think they're in my desk drawer.” He said.

Caroline quickly went into his drawer and got out a gray ink pen and calculator. She handed them to her along with a note tablet.

“You’re so weird.” Kristy said suddenly and sat on the bed in front of him.

Titan frowned as he started organizing the spread sheets and frowned. “What the hell is this? These sheets are not even numbered according to dates. Shit.”

“Are you even listening to me?” Kristy asked.

“I’m sorry honey. Kristy what do you mean I’m weird.” He said and started trying to organize the sheets.

“I saw you almost kill somebody for breaking into the house.” Kristy said.

“Damn straight I did.” Titan said with a nod of his head. He showed and felt not a bit of regret or shame.

“Dad told me to do just what the fuck I did. He would have kicked my ass if I didn’t do it. A man has to protect his family." Titan said calmly.

“Dad wasn’t like that?” Kristy said.

“Yes he was.” Caroline said and looked at her daughter. “That asshole came into our home. He got what he deserved.”

Kristy stared at her with her mouth open. “I can’t believe that.”

Titan nodded his head as he orgainzed the spread sheets on the bed. “Kristy that makes me happy.”

“What the hell does that mean?” Kristy said.

Titan nodded. “I want you to keep thinking that way. There are no monsters in your world. Your big brother is going to see to that shit.”

Caroline flinched. “Titan calm down. She’s just being a little upset. There is no need to go that far.”

Kristy stared at him. She opened her mouth and then she closed it. “Titan. Why are you acting so strange. It’s like you turned into a different person.”

Titan shook head. “I’m not acting weird. I’m going to work hard to pay off your college and you don’t want monsters in your world so big brother can make that shit happen.”

“Kristy. Listen to me. You are being disrespectful to your brother. Apologize right now and tell him that you understand that he loves you.” Caroline said.

Kristy stared at him and sighed. “I’m sorry. I was just scared. I haven’t seen you like that before. I understand. You just trying to protect me.” She said.

“Don’t worry about it baby girl. I got you. I’m just trying to do right by you. I love you.” Titan said calmly.

Kristy smiled. “I love you too.”
