A silhouette stepped slowly out of the shadows. As the overhead light flickered to life, it revealed a man in his early forties with a face devoid of any discernible emotion. He was as calm as a man who controlled the very temperature of the room.
"I am B-01," he said, gesturing toward a table with two chairs. "I am in charge of the first stage of your re-education. Please, sit."
The room was too empty to be called a lounge. Stark white lights, bare walls, and the faint, biting scent of antiseptic. Yun-jae took a steadying breath and sat down.
B-01 activated the tablet on the table.
"First, a verification. Last night, at midnight, you sent a message to the system stating you were unable to attend the re-education. Correct?"
Yun-jae’s heart hammered against his ribs. "...Yes."
B-01 bowed his head slightly. "Interesting. Because there is no record of such a message in our system."
"...What?" Yun-jae’s voice trembled.
"It wasn't deleted," B-01 said, turning the tablet screen toward him. "It simply never existed. According to our logs, you never chose to 'Refuse.'"
Yun-jae pressed his dry lips together. "I sent it myself. I saw it go through."
"Perhaps you did." B-01’s lips quirked into a ghost of a cold smile. "But if the Organization's system does not recognize it, that choice does not exist."
A-12’s words flashed through Yun-jae’s mind: 'There is no record of refusal. Everyone participates voluntarily.'
B-01 dropped the first question. "Before coming here, did you ever think of running away?"
It was a question where a lie would be useless. The subway, the hallway, the strange man watching him... Yun-jae slowly lowered his head.

"...Yes. I did."
Without a word, B-01 logged the response on the screen.
"Second question." His gaze bored into Yun-jae’s soul. "Despite that... why didn't you run?"
Yun-jae swallowed hard. The answer didn't take long to surface.
"...Because I had nowhere to return to."
A brief silence followed. B-01 deactivated the tablet.
"Sufficient."
Suddenly, the ceiling lights flickered twice. The tablet vibrated with a new incoming message. B-01 checked the screen and muttered quietly, "It’s A-12."
Yun-jae’s breath hitched instantly.
"Question three is being bypassed," B-01 said, setting the tablet down. "He wants the access logs verified first."
Then, in a firm, final tone: "Our session ends here." He lowered his eyes for a moment before adding, "From this point forward... A-12 will handle you directly."
It wasn't an explanation. It was a sentence.
A mechanical voice crackled over the intercom.
[User A-73, proceed to Lounge 2.]
As Yun-jae stood up, B-01 left him with one last thought. "Remember this. The Organization only provides one path. There is... only one door."
Yun-jae didn't answer. He stepped out into the hallway. Behind him, he heard the heavy thud of the door locking. The corridor was silent, save for the faint, periodic hum of the surveillance cameras.
Then, a vibration in his pocket. Yun-jae wiped his sweaty palms and pulled out his phone. [Caller: Restricted] [1 Attachment]
His heart skipped a beat when he opened the file. It was a photo of him in the lounge, sitting across from B-01. The lighting, the angle of the tablet, even the direction of his gaze—it was captured perfectly from directly above.
Below the photo was a single line:
[The third door has not yet opened.]
A cold shiver raced down his spine. Yun-jae looked toward the end of the hallway. [CONSULTATION] [LOUNGE] And to the far right—an unmarked, black metal door.
A single, unnaturally bright spotlight beat down on that door, as if the building itself were pointing a silent finger. This is it.
Yun-jae walked toward it, his breath coming in shallow gasps. As he reached the door, he felt a faint vibration beneath his feet—the sound of something moving busily on the other side.
The door didn't open on its own. It sat there, cold and expectant, waiting for him to grasp the handle.
Just as he reached out, his phone buzzed again.
[The final choice before you enter. - A-12]
Yun-jae stood frozen between the black door and the glowing screen. Finally, he reached out and gripped the handle.

As the black door swings open, the sentences Yun-jae once deleted begin to flicker back to life on the laptop screens inside.
Then, A-12’s voice echoes through the room:
"Welcome to Stage 1 of Re-education, A-73. It's time to... rewrite your history."
Two options appear at the bottom of the screen:[ACCEPT][REFUSE]
