Stu sat in front of the mirror staring at his reflection, spshing water on his face he said, “Come on Stu! You can do this!” He made his way out of the bathroom where all the girls were waiting for some reason. He asked, “What’s up?”
They all stared at him questioningly. Chaos asked, “Why are there always weird noises when you’re in there?”
Relieved he said, “Oh, That time? That was just me getting psyched for the blue god thing.. That’s all.”
Chaos asked, “Alright then, what about st time? You were making simir noises and then you went to bed?”
Miracle said, “She brought us out here, we all heard it.”
Blushing Stu asked, “Seriously? You’re fucking with me, right?”
Prosperity said, “Not yet.”
Stu pushed pass them, walking into the living room thinking to himself he would have to do something about the girls lurking outside the bathroom. This was getting ridiculous. He sighed taking his spot on the couch and the girls came in. Prosperity took a seat next to him smiling wide. He said, “You’re too excited, this isn’t a date. This will be weird if Chaos was any indicator.”
She said, “I don’t care, just as long as we’re together!” She put the pill in her mouth. He ate his as well. Sitting back on the couch he waited. There it was, the pain, he cried out.
Looking up he was somepce new; he didn’t recognize it at all. It was an empty basketball court, the inner-city kind. It was in bad shape, the sky was grey, and the air was still. He started walking down the street looking around, there was no one and nothing. This wasn’t really what he expected from Prosperity.
Every building was empty, and every car sat idle. He was having a hard time figuring this out. Looking around he spotted a balcony he could reach using a fire escape. He made his way up intending to get a better view and hopefully get a clue. As he looked out from the balcony he saw nothing but emptiness. Empty vehicles, houses, schools, all of it. He sighed, this didn’t help much. He climbed back down deciding to go down the street further.
He heard the first noise since he showed up here. Looking around it was coming from a park, running in the direction it grew louder. It was a squeaking sound, like metal, no like a squeaky swing chain. He ran quickly, showing up in the park he saw a couple rows of swings, and there she was. He shouted, “Prosperity!”
She looked over at him surprised. She slowed her swinging down as he approached her. Prosperity asked, “What are you doing here?”
Stu sat on the swing next to her and in a stern tone asked, “Do you think.. Do you think I might be autistic?”
She was confused, “I really don’t understand what you’re asking me.. What are you doing here?”
He sighed thinking; autism powers activate. He looked at her saying, “Well, I’m guessing that after the lovely walk I had here, the wonderful view, the amazing people, and don’t forget the thriving economy, I think I’m here to keep you company..” He would guess that she was drowning in loneliness, but he had tried to soften the realization.
She asked, “You want to stay here with me? You would stay here, with me?”
Stu asked, “Is that a problem? Is there too much traffic or something?”
Prosperity couldn’t help but give a soft ugh at him, she said, “I have spent a long time being here, and now you want me to accept someone that will just raise my hopes and go away in the end.” He was right, she was drowning in her loneliness. The poor god, the poor girl he thought.
Stu asked, “Why do you stay here by yourself? Why not leave?”
She stared down the empty road saying, “It’s easier..”
He spoke in a very caring tone with what he said next, “Prosperity, well I think it’s actually you. The point is I understand all the metaphors that are coming at me left and right. I want you to understand that I know how long you’ve been here. I wanted to come and let you know that I see a major part of my future when I look into your eyes..”
She cut him off saying, “Eye.”
Standing up from the swing he stepped in front of her and snatched her eyepatch, she covered her eye. Stu said, “When I look in your eyes, I see my future Prosperity.. I want you to know I won’t force you to leave, but this is your st chance to leave! I’m the st one that is going to hold out a hand to you!” He pulled her hand away from her eye and kissed her. She was slow to react, but she kissed him back.
Slowly opening her eyes, Stu was looking at her. She said, “I’ll live forever and I don’t know if I can go on without you.”
He looked at her saying, “True, I’ll be gone. The other girls will be feeling the same thing, so you all have someone that knows what you feel. There is a light on the other side.” Standing straight he held his hand out saying, “You don’t have to come with me if you don’t want to.. But I want you to if it matters at all..” He smiled confidently.
Prosperity stared at him weighing her options, hesitantly she took his hand. He pulled her up off the swing to him. She smiled asking, “Can I still wear the colr?”
He ughed hard saying, “Sure.” Looking back, he saw the couch, looking forward the girls were all watching him once again. He sat up wiping drool from his mouth, groggy, and asking, “Time?”
Miracle said, “Another twenty-five minutes.”
Chaos excitedly said, “Yeah, apparently Broth really did know what he was doing.”
Stu rubbed his face as he asked, “Where’s Prosperity?”
She said, “I’m right here, Stu. We don’t have to talk about what happened, just know.. well, thank you..” She smiled warmly.
Stu was wiped out as far as his energy was concerned. He sighed saying, “Thank god..” Chaos said, “Not this one, that was all you..”
Prosperity was calm, cool, and collected for once just rexing. Miracle asked, “Really? What happened in there?”
Prosperity said, “We just talked..”
In disbelief Miracle asked, “So how hard did you ride him in there? No way talking calmed you down this much.. I’m sorry, I just don’t believe you..”
Chaos asked, “What happened in there? Did you sex Stu up in there?”
Everyone looked at Chaos with concern. Prosperity asked, “Sex. Stu. up? Chaos, are you a virgin?” Her face turned red as she stuttered.
