Sonnia, former Paladin of Elarion.

“I am Sonnia Paladin of Elarion, Seeker rank adventurer of Team Reaper. No, not anymore. I am Sonnia, former Paladin of Elarion, my friends died, Lyra, Jax, Wyrd, and Theorin…all gone. I gave everything to protect them…my magic, my body, my soul, my willpower…..yet it wasn’t enough. I should’ve died with them, yet I returned. Now I’m not even in control of me, a new version of me…thanks to a deal I made out of desperation for my team. Four months, four long months since I cheated death, the woman who controls my body has ruined my name.”

In a bar lit by various candles, a woman in steel-plated armor with messy blonde hair sits at a table. She looked down at the table slumped over. Behind the bar table, a demon whose face is shrouded in shadows, with white eyes wearing black armor, kneels across the table , cleaning a mug. Kaelith the demon sets down the mug and speaks in a silky smooth voice.

“My lady, how long do you intend to sulk? It’s been a while, you’ve hardly drunk or eaten anything, nor said anything to me. Am I really that disgusting to you? You can’t blame me for your actions, Wesley and Shattered Eyes are to blame, not I.”

He walks over to her while Sonnia stays limp on the table. She Finally spoke in a low tone.

“Demon…leave me alone. I have nothing left to live for. Everything I had is gone. I’m trapped in my own mind with the very tool that ruined me. I watch her actions from time to time. It sickens me, it was enough you defiled me in my mind with words now. She does it physically….. I feel everything she does. Each injury she happily takes, each drink of alcohol she takes. each time she seduces a person. She claims revenge but constantly looks for cheap times….She ditched my armor because wants to feel pain. She is not Sonnia. You and her both are abominations to everything I love.”

Kaelith tries to hug her from behind. Before he could fully wrap his arms around her, Sonnia violently shoved him off. wincing at the feel of his skin on hers she stood up. She lifted her arms in a defensive stance. Kaelith lingered, choosing to kneel to speak to her face to face. His voice stayed calm and composed.

“My lady, I only wish to comfort you. You don’t need to act this way. After all I am all you have left….You can’t blame me for her, Your mind created her. I had nothing to do with her. It’s only a coincidence we get along so well.”

Kaelith then rose, taking a small sigh. Her silence forced him to back off as he walked back to his place behind the bar. Now, cleaning a mug that hadn’t been used. his eyes focused on Sonnia. His eyes glowed with admiration.

“I suppose you should focus on her then, Still, I’m sure soon we can find something we agree on.”

In the outside world, the sky was a crisp sunset. The area was barren, with a warm, subtle wind blowing. Sonnia wore a light linen robe and carried a metal staff with a hollow circle at the top. Her clothes and face were filthy with dirt, dried mud, water stains, and even faint traces of old dried blood. A pungent odor lingered behind her. She hummed with a smile as she walked down a stone path.

“It’s getting darkkkkk, I should find a place to rest, I’ve been walking all day, and I am tired…. Vokar’s region was boring. It’s barren, empty villages, and full of losers…Wesley, the assassin girl, the Podra girl, I hate all of them.”

She thought of that moment briefly. Jax was killed by a magic attack through his chest, dying instantly. Lyra’s neck being slit and her scared eyes. Theorin stabbed and slowly bleeding out in Sonnia's own arms. Wyrd being shot through and laying these clinging to life only to be saved by his girlfriend. Though her face stayed straight and plain, tears did form in her eyes. She quickly wiped them away and smiled to herself.

“Hmm, I guess I can’t fully block you out. It’s a shame, but I guess at least I can’t ever be lonelyyyyy! I hope you don’t forget your old family.”

She found a comfy spot on the road, lay down, no campfire, just embracing the dark. The sky slowly formed into a waning gibbous. She had no supplies to set up with. only the clothes on her back and her metal staff. She tried to sleep, but a voice in her head kept her awake.

“They are more than an old family, They were our friends. All the time we shared with them, yet all you can say is goodbye. You are not bothered that they are all gone? Show some remorse.”

Sonnia looked up at the moon. Her face went back to a plain look. She traced the stars with her fingers.

“No, why would their deaths bother me? They were your family, they all hated me and tried hard to save you from me. Even though I saved you at your lowest points. Free of charge! You can be sad. I’ll stay in charge.”

She laid back, closing her eyes, letting the darkness take over. happily using her arms as pillows. Then, in the bar, she popped up still in her robes. Sonnia looked at Kaelith, and her alter ego.

“Hellooooo, Kaelith, hello Sonnia, another fun day here? Any more lectures you wanna get out of the way?”

She looked and waved at the two. Without a moment of hesitation, though, the steel-armored Sonnia rose from her chair, wielding a sharpened table leg. She rushed to her evil self with a battle cry. Dark Sonnia smiled and opened her arms like she was accepting a hug. Once the attacker got close, she raised her arm to block the attack, letting the table leg stab her arm. Both women felt the pain. Dark Sonnia, though, wasted no time tripping and disarming her. Watching the Paladin fall to the ground with a leg sweep. Dark Sonnia then laughed.

“Hahahaha, that wasn’t nice! I said hi, and you attacked me. Was that your attempt to take over by fighting me in your mind? You are ridiculous, it’s so funny I’m starting to tear up. HAHAHA”

She laughed at the defeated woman, with Kaelith coming to help the defeated paladin. He reached his hand out to her. She refused his hand though and stood up defiantly. staring at her darker self with a cold death stare.

“I want my body back, you unholy abomination. You think you can do this to me? I won’t allow it. Not ever. I’ll continue to resist you as much as I can.”

Yet Dark Sonnia looked and cocked her head to the side. adopting a sarcastic, mocking tone.

“I wAnT my bODy BaCK uNhOLY AboMiNaTIoN. You'd better enjoy watching things. I am not letting you back in; I waited my turn patiently, like a good girl. Now you wait for your turn. Besides, you are way too sad and mad. You need a longer timeout to think things out.”

She then phased out of the bar with a sarcastic slow wave. leaving Sonnia defeated and irritated. Kaelith walked back to his spot now.

“My lady, you’ve lost to her about 33 times now; perhaps your tactics require more glamour and refinement. I can help you if you need.”

She stood in silence, scanning the ground. stomping it as hard as she with an aggravated grunt.

“Shut up, Demon. If you cared, you would’ve helped me long ago. You killed many threats with ease, yet you went easy on him…I know you did, one punch…one ring….and you fell. I remember you begged to fight Zealots. You took acid and claws to your head. You even got stabbed by my blade. Yet one fight and you crumble, I won’t forgive you…..ever.”

Kaelith watched her, his eyes shifted briefly to a sad position for a brief moment. He quickly caught himself and returned to normal.

“I see…. that's why you are mad at me….I did try hard, but I am strained as of late, using my powers to fuel her, fuel you, then myself. Even I have limits…The man who killed your friends was strong already to begin with. I’m sorry you watched them die, but let me make it up to you one day.”

A silent stare between the two started forming. He nodded his shadowy head, continuing to find simple tasks to occupy himself.

“When you are ready, I am here for you, as I always have and I always will. You are my lady, and I am your protector.”

After a hit back in the real world, the sun started to rise. Dark Sonnia woke up, stretching. Her stomach growled a little, and she lightly giggled, patting it.

“Good food does sound good now. I wonder if there’s anything nearby. I don’t wanna eat dirt or bugs again.”

She continued down the road and looked around his barren, rocky fields. A scent caught her nose, Dead fire. Her nose guided her closer to the smoke. hoping the aroma would lead to a way to kill the hunger she had been given. Walking closer, she saw a lone man cleaning up a campsite. She put on an innocent smile while looking at him and his small tone physique.

“Hellooooo, do you have any leftovers? I sure am starving! I’m sure I can make it up to you, in a few ways.”

There stood a young man, possibly nineteen or twenty, with bushy brown hair, wearing metal armor like a low-level knight. He looked up in horror, seeing Sonnia approach. He fell onto the ground, backed up quickly as glancing at the dirty woman.

“Ahhh…you…? Don’t hurt me, I haven't started my journey as an adventurer! I’ll give you what you want!”

Sonnia laughed at the young man. She stepped forward, dragging her staff across the ground, letting the soft sound play out.

“You will feed me, then? That’s what I want! I'd rather bite into food than your neck or ears.”

The young man shook a little. His voice matched his body. He shifted, putting a hand in his backpack and feeling around for something.

“I have some leftovers….tak…take what you want, just don’t hurt me and stop getting near me.”

She smiled and crouched down and waited patiently for his treat to appear.

  “I’m waiting! Gimme. Gimme. Gimme.”

From his backpack, he finally pulled out a small bag of trail mix. He tossed it to her lightly. Sonnia hungrily opened the bag and poured it in her hands. slowly grinning at the mix of nuts and berries. The young man got up, ready to run, but her voice still called out, playful.

“Don’t run away now, or I’ll be forced to chase you down and pin you. Sit with me. Don’t make me say please, besides, I can’t bite the hand that feeds me. What’s your name, sir?”

He sat down nervously, watching her. He debated his next move, but now seeing Sonnia up close, the man blushed lightly. He eyed her up and down. Then he forced his eyes to stay glued to her face as she ate.

“I am…Caedric, I was going to the sub guild in the Dominion to start a new career. I’m a former farmer.”

Sonnia let out a small giggle while she watched him shake. She stared at his eyes while they bravely looked at her face. She took another bite of her food, chewing slowly.

“You look like dead crops! You're too fragile to hurt anyone, let alone planar beasts that pop up! Yet….I like your eyes. You could be so much more if you trained a little.”

She finished the bag of food and cast it away, looking at him curiously. She reached for a book he dropped earlier. skimming through the pages. It was an encyclopedia of various monsters. Sonnia eyes trailed before yawning before tossing the book away.

“That thing is useless, You’ll focus so much on words that you can’t even focus on fighting….Focus on your weapon…actually, where is your weapon?”

She stared at him, waiting for a response. Caedric broke his stare. He felt around in his backpack, then nervously pulled out a small, clean dagger. gleaming in the light. She laughed loudly now.

“HAHAHA, that small thing with your nervous looks ….you couldn’t even hurt a child, Get a greatsword! Big dangerous! shows you mean business! Plus, you’ll need big arms to use it. Train hard!”

Sonnia got up, walked beside him, and sat down getting comfortable. She placed a hand on his leg and squeezed a little before whispering into his ear.

“You remind me of someone I used to know….MWAH!”

She kissed his cheek, smiling at him while making a exaggerated noise. She carefully watched his reaction, he got silent while his cheeks turned bright red. She sighed and got up, walking away.

“Tooooo fragile and scared! Grow thicker skin, Caedric, and maybe you’ll get farther with me. True hunters take what they want! Goodluck! Don’t die unless it makes you cool! I’ll be in this Reigon for a while!”

Watching her walk off, he slowly regained his senses. He scurried to get his book, cleaned it off. He quickly gathered his supplies and finished cleaning the campsite he chose. His heart beat hard while he watched her skipping away. He thought to himself.

“What the heck? She seemed too goofy and flirty to be a hardened killer…. yet she had blood and dirt all over her as if she had seen something. I was scared.”

He scurried off at a quick pace towards the direction of the sub guild, hoping the rest of the journey was a smooth ride while clutching his dagger hard. While Sonnia herself skipped towards a village forgotten by her own country. The town known as Lowmere.
