A few minutes later, Shane and Arthur were at Arthur's house to inform their families that they would be going out for a bit to run an errand.
“Hey Mona, sorry, but it seems like I won’t have time today to help you practice for tomorrow's game, but I’m sure Alicia here will help you,” said Shane as he looked toward Alicia, who was sitting nearby eating cookies.
When Alicia heard she would help Mona practice, she panicked and fell from her seat.
“Hey, why did you volunteer me without telling me?!” shouted Alicia as she was getting up.
“Because I know that you're doing nothing today, and you're the only one athletic enough who can help Mona practice since you have experience playing soccer.”
“Fine, but you owe me one,” said Alicia as she looked at Shane.
“Okay, and Mona, I don’t know how long this errand will take, so I don’t know if I will be able to make dinner tonight, but Mr Ravenscroft said it will be okay if you eat with Alicia and her mom tonight.”
“Alright. I assume you're up to something important, but you'd better be at my game tomorrow, since you already promised,” said Mona as she got closer to Shane.
“Alright, I'll make sure that I finish this errand as fast as I can, so that I can go to your game.”
“Okay, then I guess I’ll see you later.”
After hearing that, Shane and Arthur head towards the door to leave.
As they got to the door, Shane looked back at his sister to say, “Stay safe, Mona, and I’ll see you later.”
After saying that, he headed out of the house to Arthur's car.
As he waited next to Arthur's car, he saw Arthur saying something to his wife before they left.
Does she know about any of this, or was she left in the dark as well? This entire thing is still too much to take in. I don’t even know when to tell my friends about this. How am I even able to lend them my power? Is that why they were in the demon world with me? Thought Shane as he looked up into the sky, which had no clouds.
As he looked down, he saw Arthur heading his way, but his expression had completely changed from one of happiness to one of guilt, probably from having to teach Shane something that would become a burden to his life.
Even Shane had mixed feelings about awakening his powers, because if it ever got out of his control, it would harm the people he cared about. After seeing that dream, Shane began to fear the power he possessed, as he saw the corpses surrounding the Victorian-England-style city.
Thirty minutes later, as Shane was in the passenger seat of Arthur's car, he stared out of the side of the window. The area they were driving past was surrounded by forest and sounded as if no one had been there in ages. The only things they could hear were birds in the tree and other animals rustling through the bushes.
“Hey, so I heard you have a test on Monday. Are you fully prepared for it?” said Arthur as if he were trying to relieve the tension that was building in the car.
“Yeah, I’m fully prepared for the test. I’m also sure that Alicia will pass with the amount of time Elena spent trying to help her.”
“That's good.”
“I’ve been meaning to ask you this for a while. What do you mean, Neil and Alexa are part-demons? They don’t seem evil.”
“Yeah. I had my suspicion the moment I saw their hair colour. You see, demons usually have red hair while angels have blue hair.”
“Oh, so that's why our natural hair colour is unusual. I’ve always wondered why our hair was different from others.”
“Yeah. But you don’t have to worry about them; they aren’t affiliated with the demon world. Their power comes from within their ancestry.”
“So that’s why their parents have black hair; they didn't get power from their ancestry. Does that mean the power only shows up every couple of generations?”
“Yes, and evidently they possess a demon side that has yet to awaken. But you don’t have to worry about them suddenly going evil.”
“Why would I have to worry about that in the first place?”
“You see. Our angel power represents happiness and the desire to protect those whom we care about. Demon powers represent sorrow and a desire to hurt people. But since the twins are part human, their powers differ; their powers aren’t full of chaos. So they will be able to fuse their demon side to their human side and still be able to keep their humanity.”

“Ok. I think I understand now. I just have to ask one more thing: what did you mean that I can give part of my power to Everett, Elena, and Franco?”
“... That’s due to the amount of power you possess and the amount of time they spent around you and the others. When you fully have a grasp of your power, you be able to lend some of it to them. This could come in the way of boosting their physical ability and giving them a weapon that is infused with your power.”
“Ok, so that's what you meant by when you said that they will be able to support me. I’ve been meaning to ask this, but where are we going?”
“Where are you going to a place that your dad and I made for when our kids were ready to awaken their powers. We would have preferred that your powers could have stayed dormant forever, but it seems that fate has other plans. This place is made so that it would suppress your powers as much as possible, so that the angels or demons wouldn’t notice when you guys awaken your power.”
“What about Mona? Will her powers ever awaken?”
“It seems like they will be awakened someday in the future, but you don’t have to worry about it for a while. They usually awaken when you're in your teens.”
“That’s good. I want to make sure she never has to fight. So I’ll end this before she ever needs to pick up a weapon,” said Shane as he continued to look at the empty forest.
As five minutes passed, they arrived at a cave. From outside, it just seemed like a normal mountain, but inside the cave, there was a ton of training equipment scattered around.
As Shane looked around, he saw that there were dummies that were supposed to be as strong as demon flesh and armour. Along with that, he saw wooden swords shaped like katanas and English broadswords.
“So this is the place that you and my father set up. It seems like you put a lot of effort into it. How does this place hide my power as I awaken it?”
“This place is a naturally formed cave. The only thing special is that the Founder's presence covers Stone here. And since his power was so strong, no other presence could seep through. Demon and angels have no idea about this place, so they won’t come after you here.”
“Who is the Founder?”
“The Founder is the one who created this universe. He also created the first Angel Queen and Demon King. But one day, he just disappeared and was never seen again.”
“Was he really that strong to create our entire universe? I wonder what happened to him.”
As Shane began to get ready for training, he saw Arthur pull out a katana of thin air. The katana had a wave pattern running through the blade and a blue woven hilt.
As Shane saw Arthur pull out a katana, shock was written all over his face as he said, “W-W-Where did you get that, Arthur. It looked like you pulled it out of thin air.”
“I thought you were going to ask that. This katana is a manifestation of my Angel power. It lets us channel our power into physical attacks and control it.”
“Ok, so what do I do in order to get my katana?”
“In order to awaken your Angel side, you first need to remember when your power first tried to awaken.”
“I think the first time it happened was yesterday when I was carrying Mona home, and I was thinking about protecting her.”
“Good, now you need to focus on that moment. Along with that, you have to focus on the other people you care about, remember that our power represents happiness. So you need to focus on the happy moments you spent with them.”
As Shane sat down on the floor, he closed his eyes in order to focus on his happiest memories. The first thing he saw was his daily life with Mona. Every time she smiled, Shane felt joy, knowing she was happy. After that, he saw his friends. Each of them was always their Shane whenever he needed help, and that always brought Shane happiness.
As Shane remembered everyone he cared about, purple lighting began to form around his body. But as everything started to go well, sparks of crimson lighting began to surround him.
“Shane! You need to focus on happy memories; you can’t let sorrow overwhelm you,” screamed Arthur in panic as he saw Shane's power start to resemble that of a fallen angel.
The crimson lighting around Shane began to form the moment he thought of his nightmare and the sadness he felt when his dad disappeared. As he remembered the pain that his future self would cause, it brought him closer to sorrow.
As Shane was being overwhelmed by darkness, Arthur tried to shake him to pull him out of his sorrow. But as soon as he got close to Shane, he was struck by lightning, which threw him across the room.
“Cough. He’s this powerful already. His power hasn’t fully awakened. Just how strong is the power within him?”
Inside Shane's mind, he saw the version of himself that had killed all those people in the demon world.
“You're weak, no wonder you lose everyone you care about.”
“...”
As Shane stared into the other version of himself, he felt paralysed with fear. The only thing he was able to do was tremble as he saw the different version of himself get closer. As the other version of himself came closer, he could feel his heartbeat rising to the point where it felt like it was going to fall out.
“Maybe it would be better if you just die.”
“Shane!”
Just before the other version of Shane could reach him, Shane heard someone call his name.
“Shane!”
The moment they repeated his name, Shane realised it was just one person calling his name, but it was multiple people calling his name. It was Mona and his friends calling out to him.
As Shane heard them, he could finally move again. As Shane began to remember the good time he spent with them, a katana and dagger started to form in front of him. They both had purple lighting accents around the blade and had a purple woven hilt.
“I may be weak, but I will get stronger. As long as I live, I will get stronger. I will not fall. I won’t let you take over!” Shane screamed as he picked up the katana and dagger and stabbed the other version of himself in the chest.
