Chapter 39: Feels Like a Maze

Chapter 39: Feels Like a Maze

God #5: “If you said so, then we’ll have no worries. But, are you sure that you didn’t know anything when you came here?”

God number 5 wanted to assure that there was no hidden intention within her. Generally, the quintuplets still doubted Julia, they weren’t going along with it. Because they didn’t know whether she was telling lies or truths, the only thing that could make them less worried was being able to read what was inside her mind. However, that option was eliminated, her mind was full of dark black substances that they couldn’t succumb to. A mysterious being like her, it was right that the quintuplets couldn’t worry less, they had to remain guarded toward her, or else something bad might happen…

  Something that they can’t resist.

Julia: “I’m sure that I don’t have any memories about my mission. If it was about inspection, I wouldn’t set foot on enemy territory for good.”

God #4: “You sound so confused, why would you make a deal with the pledging system in the first place? Don’t you think your statement is highly contradicted to what you asserted?”

Surely a bulletproof, straightforward query was given to Julia relentlessly. Julia was pausing for a brief moment to process god #4’s queries, she was really lost and struggling to debunk the god’s assertion. She thought of a speech,

Julia: “The pledging system took my memories about the duty I have to commit, and I couldn’t remember even a remnant of it. If I had such bad intentions, then it was highly possible that version of me was gone and flushed with the mission already. I even want to know what Osparious's conspiracy was.”

God #3: “We’ll be looking forward to your actions in the future. We hope that we won't see anything stupid from you humans.”

The other four gods nodded, agreeing to what god #3 was saying. The quintuplets still doubt, and it was constant toward the two outsiders who shouldn’t know and be here in the first place. Katze and Julia didn’t even have a single negative thought toward the quintuplets, Katze was admiring them on the other hand. As Julia was a newcomer, she didn’t have any specific emotions yet, because it was just the beginning of the relationship.

God #2: “Exploring your new home is gonna take a while. Katze, you’re her guide, so be pleasant.”

Katze: “I’m sure that I would be a gentleman, don’t worry.”

  God #5: “Good.”

The portal appeared in nowhere at their backs, they stepped backward and submerged themselves into the white portal. The narrowish corridor was still a long way to reach the end of it. The wall on the left and the wall on the right were painted with goldish color and decorated with paintings that they found interesting. Also, lamps were hanging on the wall, they all kept a decent distance between each other. At the ceiling, there was a chandelier shining brightly across the corridor. A huge mat was placed upon the floor, they were weaved with high quality threads and fabric that felt soft by each step. The mat was painted orange and embroidered with yellow rhombus figures all the way to the final destination. The corridor didn’t have any rooms, so they kept walking toward that end.

Both sides didn’t know each other’s intentions. Julia and Katze’s side was being positively unharmed, whilst the quintuplets couldn’t trust them completely. That was a good way to put it, since they didn’t have any clear advantages on their side. The quintuplets were a little worried that if they let their guard down, they would be vulnerable to literal consequences that they cannot amend.

Gods aren’t easy to get despised by lower rankings, underestimating gods is a way to end life.

It looked like the portal earlier teleported me right into the mansion, I was trying to walk to the end of the corridor. It surely took a hell amount of my energy, and it also made my legs a bit exhausted. The royal decorations of this place seemingly made me feel luxurious. If I was in my old world, I wouldn’t even have a chance to experience a homestay that was made for wealthy people.

The system in my mind closed, because I forced it. I have the right to control my own authority, so whenever I find something worth the use, I would activate my authority. I got the prize in my inventory, the prize was that I was allowed to read one individual’s inner self despite the individual blocking the external factors from intruding into their mind. If my predictions are correct, the prize would automatically give me options to take it right away or transfer it to the incorporeal inventory.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

With this given opportunity, I can read Osparious’s true intention. Before that, I wanted to explore the mansion and its corners to get the hang of this accommodation.

Katze: “I don’t know what we would do here. What were our reasons to be here? We went through amnesia, and now…we aren't going to leave.”

“Why is it? What would happen if we tried to leave?”

Katze: “You would be the gods’ enemy that needs to be ridded of immediately.”

“Yeah, I’d think so. The gods must have a pinpoint ability to not let us escape that easily.”

Katze: “Yeah, but we’re not those people, we’re living a seemingly peaceful life right now. If we don’t try to do anything stupid, we’ll be fine. As long as we continue on keeping secrets about the whole thing.”

The carpet felt soft, my boots were stamping on it, going forward. The atmosphere was just chill, I could feel the air flowing constantly into my eardrums, the only things that kept me warm were my white coat and long white trousers. Fortunately, I was also wearing a pair of white gloves, it helped me not get my hands stiff. I was nodding down, inspecting my outfit, looking at my own cosmetics. I was so focused that I didn't know that I had reached the end of the aisle, until Katze called my name, “Julia”.

In front of us was an enormous parabola door that sprinkled spikes in just below the top from the left and the right. Its outward line was made with golden color, the body of the door was made from carbon-like material. I don’t know whether the door was made out of carbon or not, but when I touched the door, it felt rough. Cause, what if the door was made with something similar but not carbon? Nevermind, I just didn’t have energy to ask Katze, and I didn’t want to activate my authority for such a trivial matter.

Then, Katze placed his right hand on the rectangle mold the size of a book, the rectangle mold was placed in the middle of the door and positioned at the most convenient spot for humans to reach. The mold glowed turquoise, and it gradually shone brighter and brighter.

Katze: “I’ve set up a new registration for you. You put your hand on the mold to complete the registration.”

“Is this like creating an account to get into something? So if I put my hand on the mold, then this house would recognize me as its owner?”

  Katze: “Yes, you’re right.”

I placed my left hand on the blue glowing mold that was activated by Katze. The glowing turquoise mold commenced to become light green. Once done, the mold was glowing light green, an alternative from the turquoise color earlier.

“Could this be that I fused my color with your color?”

Katze: “Right, you and I have a color inside us, the color embodies our nature. The mold turning green means that yellow is your color. This fusion means that it was a mixture of blue and yellow, and we both could enter.”

“Ok, but wait, can you remove yours? I want to have privacy, you know.”

Katze: “Oh sure! Just 10 seconds.”

  -

The door was finally shining yellow, that meant this mansion was marked as my accommodation. I should say that I was renting this mansion to justify that this wasn’t my property. The removal was done, I had to place my hand on the mold instead of Katze at that point, because I was the one taking ownership of that mansion henceforth. The entrance opened, I stepped back.

“Isn’t this inside the mansion already? Why were we not outside but inside to make registration?”

Katze: “The architecture of every mansion is like this, each entrance door would be placed randomly inside the mansion. So the next time, when you enter your house, the door will automatically recognize you.”

“But why is that? Isn’t it just taking a few seconds to open the door from the outside? I know it’s convenient to not do that manually anymore when it’s already registered. However…”

Katze: “You actually have a good point. However, the entrance can be easily trespassed if placing your hand on the mold. It will register and count the individual as the owner of the house.”

“Why don’t you make a door that’s unbreakable when it doesn’t meet the owner in condition?”

Isn’t it the fastest way to build an entrance that can’t be exploited? Why didn’t they make that in the first place?

Katze: “Because we want to make it more secure. A way to make the door recognize the owner is by bringing the door to life or making a system to it, but that’s just unreliable sometimes.”

  “Why is it then?”

Katze: “Ok think like this, isn’t it more secure when the entrance’s inside the mansion? Because no one would be able to compromise with it. Forgot to mention, you can teleport into this aisle again to enter your house by saying your name, only the owner of the mansion could execute that.”

Katze paused for a moment, it seemed like he got more explanations to lecture.

Katze: “The mansion is already made of unbreakable material, even superior abilities couldn’t exacerbate it. There would be no entrance from the outside, and how can you intrude when there’s no entrance?”

Superior abilities couldn’t break the mansion? What was it made of? But I wondered what superior abilities cannot do anything to it.

“What superior abilities cannot do anything to it? Can you tell me some?”

Katze: “Generally, the mansion cannot be harmed by normal means, it’s invulnerable to any superpowers that could warp reality, rewrite and more. The mansions also have their own authority, which twists all the definitions and contradicts all concepts.”

That sounded very secure, I thought building an unbreakable door is already decent. But, it was more complicated than I thought, meaning incursions wouldn’t happen. However, I wondered if anyone could find this realm though.

“Alright, I think I got enough information. I would like to explore the mansion from now on.”

  Katze: “bet.”

After the entrance opened, there were stairs going down. I and Katze continued, we stepped down the straight stairs that were going to lead us to somewhere. Only the stairs were visible, besides the environs were dark like a void. However, each stair was wide enough to not get easily tripped from descending. We stepped right at the middle of each stair to be safe, Katze was the leading one. There were many stairs left, then it took us around 5 minutes to reach the door.

Katze: “Each mansion is a matrix, exploring the mansion would take two or more days is no joke.”

“Yes, I’m ready. As long as there’s a room for me to rest.”

Katze: “Surely, there is a resting room for each section for you to take a break.”

“Each section? Meaning there are places that are called sections?”

  Katze: “Exactly.”

Katze turned forward, he twisted the doorknob and gently pushed forward. We stepped through the door. There were four blocks of squares that appeared to us. The surrounding was dark black like the stairs’ environs. Two blocks were placed next to each other, and the other two were placed right below, creating a larger square from the margins. Each block contained three doors, and they were placed in a triple direction. The blocks were painted yellowish with a lamp adhered at the ceiling.
