Damien took a long deep breath, he could try and level himself up but he could also see how many levels he could hoard the levels until he finished and got an idea of what he needed to work on.
He slid into his pocket pulling out a coin, he closed his eyes and flipped it. ‘Heads, I level up now.’ The sound of the ting of the coin on the ground and it rolling in circles before rapidly vibrating against the ground, gave him the approval to open his eyes. Looking down he saw it, Tails. Damien wasn’t leveling up till the quest was finished or he was in a sticky situation.
Turning he looked towards his moms room, he needed to get that cleaned first. He took a deep breath and went in gripping the bat. To no one's surprise, there were two dust bunnies jumping on the bed letting out soft squeals and chitters. It was short lived when they looked directly at him letting out a vicious hiss.
Both leapt towards him. Damien brought the bat up catching the first one with it, and he stumbled back barely missing the second one. Rearing his foot back he kicked the first one across the room and swiped the second one with the bat smashing it against the mirror causing the mirror to rapidly spin around.
They were vicious, their claws piercing his skin with a few swipes here and there but the difference between these and the one in the hallway, was Damien had hit level two and his health looked better and more aligned with these little fuzz balls.
Spinning the bat he swiped up, the first dustball hit the ceiling and exploded into dust and fuzz, the second one kept towards him, his bat catching him but pushing him back. These things were not all even, it felt like fighting real creatures instead of just a video game creature.
Putting the back up to his shoulder, he waited watching like he was a baseball player and that little ball was about to fly towards him. Which it did just that. SMACK!
The dust bunny exploded.
He took a long deep breath, it was more tedious than he pictured it being. He had originally hoped it would have been all fun and games. Moving in and out of the rooms, skipping frolicking, but now he has to deal with whatever this was.
The bathroom was fairly easy, it only had one, and it gave him time to relieve himself from the mixture of anxiety in his belly. Washing and splashing water in his face he looked in the mirror taking deep breaths.
“Okay Damien. You've defeated four of these things. You only got the kitchen and living room left! Let's do this!” He shouted in the mirror slamming his hands against the sink sides before bursting out of the door and running into the living room.
Damien had questions. He had a lot of them, how this worked, was anyone able to see this, what if his mom came home? answers he didn't have, yet.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
The living room and kitchen were cleared, he wanted to celebrate but he couldn't. He slowly glanced around noticing the map icon blinking where his bedroom would have been located. ‘Why is that blinking red?’ That was the only thing he could really think about. It left an uneasy grumbling feeling in his stomach that made him flex and stretch his toes and fingers.
So far, he has gone up two levels, sitting pretty at level 3. He hadn't even bothered looking at the stat points yet, he figured he would get to them when he got to them. After all the coin has spoken, and he wasn't going to level himself up till he beat the mission. His fear right now was wondering what was coming.
He stood at the front of his door, the safe room no longer appearing just another part of the map. If he had to guess, the boss was there. Something big, scary and almost able to kill him. He gritted his teeth, turned the handle and stepped in ready for whatever was about to be thrown at him.
To his surprise it was empty, which made him confused. He glanced around with some strange twisting and turning in his gut, he didn't fully believe there was nothing it wouldn't be blinking red otherwise.
He was right.
The walls began stretching, splitting, growing taller and taller. The room opened up wider, the ceiling growing further away. There were a few things crossing Damien's mind, either he was shrinking like Alice in Wonderland or the room around him was growing. Either way he hated both of the options tremendously.
Slowly two long sharp clawed arms sprung from under his bed gripping the floor boards. The crunching clawing of them slicing the floor open as the creature slid out. It's massive long legs, oval shaped body, beady anime sized eyes with floppy ears. Damien hated this even more than the dust bunnies.
Dust Rabbit: Low level Boss
“DUST RABBIT? You couldn't have thought of something more original?” Damien shouted out towards the heavens looking around him. Then, there was a slice. Damien fell backwards as the knife sharp nails barely missed his body, scrambling to his feet he gripped the bat tightly bobbing up and down to stay limber and ready to fight
The rabbit balled its fist slamming down towards him, already bobbing like a video game character it leapt to the side as the first hit the ground. He didn't have a lot of chances for an opening, except right after an attack.
Damien took off towards the Dust Rabbit, the bat slamming into the knee caps of it. It looked down, bent its knees and leapt straight up. Then fell towards him stretching its legs out to smash him.
Damien's eyes widened seeing the sight. The 15 foot giant was hurdling towards him, feet stretching down hard slamming into the ground. Damien managed to side step just in the bring of time, but the force caused a shock wave flinging himself across the floor bouncing along the hard wood like a bouncy ball.
He took damage, but he had the feeling it could have been way worse. He needed an advantage, a weak point, he couldn't hit the head so where could he-.
Damien saw it.
Behind the creature, where the ball of a tail would have been, was another rage of a rabbit. It has a head for a tail. Damien had a scheme, a possible way to do this. Running towards the monster he slipped between its legs, his foot coming to stomp him but Damien jumped swiping at the second head and smacked it causing the monster to let out a bellow as it stumbled and hit the ground.
Quiet fell.
“No way it's dead ..right?”
Right. Just then the creature began rising again. Damien let out a sigh he knew was too good to be true, but he had a pattern now. So run, jump, swing. Run jump swing. Over and over he repeated this latter dodging, swaying and maneuvering all at the same time until.
“Dust Rabbit defeated. Congratulations.”
He couldn't believe it, the world flashed, and he stood in a spotless clean bedroom. Outside was tweeting birds and the sun setting. Damien was back “home” , a real world home. But the most exciting part was the rewards in front of him.
“Dust Rabbit defeated 100XP”
“Go into a quest for a higher level achievement unlocked.”
“Rewards: 50$, 100 Xp,
And
Mystery box or uncommon artifact.”
Damien eyes stared for a moment at the rewards, but mostly the mystery box.
The highest tier was Godly, and it was a 1% chance. It wasn't gonna happen, not unless he had some serious plot armor. So he wasn't gonna risk it, until his finger clicked it.
“Guess I am.” He said with a cocky grin knowing he did it on purpose.
A massive wheel appeared like from a game show, he gripped it and pulled with all his light as it began clicking rapidly.
His eyes watched with glee, an anxious feeling in his belly.

Congratulations: godly artifact received.
