Appendix 7: Characters From Maxs Story

  Main Characters

  Max Hayes

  Race: Human

  Class: Warrior

Bio: Max was once an ordinary young man on Earth until he and his best friend died saving children from a gas station explosion. In the white void that followed, he accepted the System’s offer of a second life and woke in the world of Edras. Starting with nothing but a sword and determination, he slowly built both skill and confidence, forming a tight-knit group that would become one of Brindleford’s few True Parties.

  Elira Sorrel

  Race: Human

  Class: Rogue

Bio: Born and raised in the alleys of Brindleford, Elira learned the art of survival long before she learned to trust anyone. A former street thief turned adventurer, she met Max by chance in the market and quickly became his sharp-eyed ally. Though she hides her loyalty behind sarcasm, she has grown into the party’s unofficial second leader and most experienced scout.

Bio: Once a promising academy student, Calder’s fascination with unstable magic got him expelled. He drifted to Brindleford with nothing but a few books and a dangerous curiosity. Max met him in the Guild Hall—nearly setting himself on fire—and they bonded quickly. Calder brings arcane utility, tactical insight, and a relentless desire to understand the world around him.

  Borin Ironmantle

  Race: Dwarf

  Class: Cleric of Durak

Bio: Borin was once a master smith of Hammerdeep, living a full life with a loving wife and children. After losing his entire family to the Deeprot sickness, grief consumed him, driving him into alcoholism and ruin. Rescued by the priests of Durak and reborn as a cleric, he now wanders the surface world seeking to mend what he can. He joined Max’s group quietly but became their moral foundation.

  Alina Crestwood

  Race: Human

  Class: Ranger

Bio: Alina lived a quiet life on her family’s farm near Brookhollow until a series of escalating goblin raids destroyed everything she knew. She fought alongside Max’s party during the final assault, and her father died buying their escape. Newly granted the Ranger class and carrying deep grief, she joined the group both to survive and to ensure no one else suffers as she did.

  Side Characters

  Guildmaster Halbrecht

  Race: Human

  Class: Former Fighter

Bio: A retired adventurer who rose to oversee the Brindleford Guild, Halbrecht carries decades of field experience and a zero-tolerance policy for incompetence. He recognizes potential where others overlook it and has begun to view Max’s party as a reliable solution to emerging threats. His leadership is calm, practical, and rooted in the belief that preparation prevents disaster.

  Mara

  Race: Human

  Class: Guild Clerk

Bio: Mara manages the daily operations of Brindleford’s Adventurer’s Guild with a sharp quill and sharper tongue. She records missions, distributes payment, handles paperwork, and serves as the first—and often only—person adventurers interact with. Though outwardly brisk, she keeps a close eye on Max’s party and quietly supports their growth.

  Deceased Characters

  Garret Crestwood — Deceased

  Race: Human

  Class: Farmer

Bio: A hardworking man who managed the largest storehouse near Brookhollow, Garret fought desperately to protect his home during a massive goblin onslaught. He bought Max’s party and his daughter the time they needed to escape, holding the line alone until the house fell around him. His sacrifice weighs heavily on the group and is the driving force behind Alina’s resolve.
