Quick update on the rewrite. I essentially started over from the very beginning, and I now have the first six chapters fully rewritten, edited, and ready for the eventual re-release. These six chapters bring the story up through the equivalent of the current Chapter 3. With 60 chapters currently released (Chapters 0–59), that puts me at about 5% complete so far.
I decided to start over from the very beginning because it was clearly the most effective path forward. Even during the weeks when I was not actively working on the rewrite, I was constantly identifying new changes and additions I wanted to make. Continuing from where I had previously left off in the rewrite would have meant repeatedly stopping to retrofit those ideas into already revised chapters. Restarting from the beginning allows me to apply those decisions cleanly and consistently. It also gives me a complete mental reset of the timeline, ensuring I am not missing context or carrying forward confusion as I move deeper into the story.
A large portion of this past week was spent almost entirely on the prologue. I felt it was the part of the story that needed the most work, so progress there was slower but very intentional. Now that I am past the prologue and fully into Gideon’s time as a goblin, I expect my pace to improve.

I genuinely believe the changes made so far significantly strengthen Gideon as a character. His life on Earth is no longer treated as an afterthought, and he now has a clearer, well-defined backstory and knowledge base that he carries with him into the new world. As I move deeper into the story, I believe the expanded worldbuilding and more deliberate pacing will continue to pay off and make the overall narrative more cohesive, satisfying, and rewarding to read.
It is also worth clarifying that the rough outlines and early draft work I completed while I was juggling the rewrite and ongoing releases remain largely intact. I previously had roughly thirty chapters mapped out in this form, and with my current approach to chapter length and structure, that material will likely carry the rewrite forward to around Chapter 40. As mentioned in last week’s announcement, I am being much more deliberate about chapter length, which means splitting some of the longer chapters into multiple shorter ones to keep pacing and structure consistent.
Thank you all for bearing with me during this process. I appreciate the patience more than I can properly express, and I hope that when the relaunch happens, it is everything I want it to be and worth the wait for all of you.
