~ * ~
Anya took a moment to remember their questions. Seb's ability to see through Husks and to memorize Energy patterns were both explained, at least partially. His ability to connect with her through the wall that one time however was- She immediately distracted herself before she went too far down that thought. She was almost certain that she knew what was happening but now was not the time to bring it up, not until HE stopped being so stubborn.
"I believe you've answered all our questions. Thank you for that."
Anya? What about-
I think I figured it out. We can talk later, she sent back before he could finish the question. She'd have to explain to him what the typical benefits of Bonds were, if he didn't figure it out after that then she wasn't sure what it would take.
As the three of them made their way to the training hall Anya made sure Seb couldn't see her smile. She didn't doubt he'd soon realize she was happy for no apparent reason but that couldn't be helped. Bonds were two way affairs.
Phelann took a few moments to tinker with the newly installed EDN Terminal then gestured for them to step towards it.
"One at a time please. I've enabled the Path Interface. When you approach it will detect your Energy Signature and allow you to make your selections. Details are only provided up to your selection point. If you select your Archetype you will see your options for Archetype Advancement, however you can wait to select those until you see your Specializations options as well. You will only see Descriptions of the selections you can make."
"After you My Lady," Seb said as he gave her space.
Taking a deep breath Anya stepped forward. Almost instantly the terminal lit up and the feed filled with information.
Energy Signature identified as [ Lysanya Sovereign Syl ] and existing experiences reviewed.
Archetype selection bypassed due to identified Combat preferences.
Specialization options identified. Specialization Advancement Options will be withheld until Specialization is selected.
Archetype Monk
On the surface Monks resemble the more common Brawler Archetype. They are both Martial Artists who typically eschew weapons and armor. The Monk however focuses much more intently on using Energy to supplement and enhance their physical abilities.
Specialization Options
- Path of the Bruiser Bruisers embrace the physical aspects of being a Monk. Brawlers in all but name.
- Path of the Protector Protectors will still be standing when all others fall. They endure and they ensure their allies do as well.
- Path of the Monk Monks find balance. They are the natural form of the Archetype, embracing it without deviation.
- Path of the Mystic Mystics leverage their Energystic abilities to the utmost. Perhaps least physically impressive they are most in tune with themselves and the world around them.
Archetype Advancement Options (Pick 3, must pick 1 Knowledge and 1 Enhancement)
- Knowledge Slightly improved awareness of how physical and energystic techniques can be combined.
- Knowledge Slightly improved understanding of self balance and how to achieve it.
- Knowledge Slightly improved ability to learn or discover techniques that allow Energy to affect friendly physical bodies and Husks.
- Enhancement Techniques combining energy and physical properties are slightly more effective.
- Enhancement Slightly improved Husk proprioception.
- Enhancement Slightly less vulnerable to physical and energy based injuries while in balance.
As Anya read through her choices her happiness faded. As she reached the end she turned to the others, pain and anger coloring her voice.
"I don't even get to choose my Archetype?"
"Unfortunately a large portion of your Path is determined by actions and experience," Phelann explained. "Time spent training, sparring and diving without first making an explicit selection is in itself a selection."

Before she could answer Seb stepped over, guiding her to look at the feed once more as he spoke. "It fits you. The way you fought Rios, you're a natural. You told me you forgot to use Energy against him but that your teachers were impressed. This sounds like like the Archetype that does that."
Anya took a deep breath, forcing herself to look back over the information without the frustration at the lack of choice.
"You're right, you both are. This fits me and it fits what I've done so far. But the Specializations," she trailed off before nearly snarling the next words out. "I will never take Bruiser or Protector. I will not be them."
She considered the last two choices, conflicted between them and unwilling to choose quickly. "But am I truly a Monk? Am I in balance? Or do I focus on Energy, on finding myself?"
Turning to look back at Seb she stepped away from the interface, her options fading as she did. "I need to think about it before I pick. You need to see your choices too."
With a nod Seb took her place, the feed coming alive once more.

Archetype Energyst
You've read of wizards throwing fireballs and calling bolts of lightning. You've dreamt of flying on gusts of wind and teleporting wherever you could see. Many tales of wizards are loosely based on Energysts being noticed by the Unawakened and then details expanded to fit the desires of the author.
Specialization Options
- Path of the Energyst
- Path of the Energy Ray
- Path of the Energystic Explosion
- Path of the Energy Barrier
Archetype SpellBlade (Energy Blade)
The Warrior is seen as the most generic physical class, with both the highest and lowest potential, the SpellBlade learns to mirror the Warrior through Energy manipulation. All equipment can be empowered or created, all personal enhancements can be fueled by potent energy to match what might alone can do.
Specialization Options
- Path of the SpellBlade
- Path of the Paladin
- Path of the SpellBow
- Path of the SpellFist
Archetype Stalker
Unlike Rogues who focus on their physical techniques to catch their enemies unawares before crippling them, the Stalker recognizes the power of the Energyst. The SpellBlade faces danger head on, you are the danger that appears when the time is right, leaving only energy in your wake.
Specialization Options
- Path of the Stalker
- Path of the Stalking Cloak
- Path of the Witchblade
- Path of the Energy Duelist
Unlike her Seb got to choose his Archetype. There was definitely a pattern to his choices, he was clearly expected to use Energy over Physical might. The Energyst would probably keep him safest, he wouldn't need to get close to any opponent while he learned to fight, but what would happen if something did get close?
"Any thoughts?" Seb asked as he turned, his smile fading as he looked at Phelann. Turning she saw shock on the Seer's face, maybe the clearest reaction she'd shown since her surprise at Valene's presence yesterday.
"Phelann..?"
"Three NOTES? THREE!? Early exposure is one thing, it's rare outside of Families but it happens." Phelann almost seemed to be rambling as she continued, "Valene, he said you, that you. Full benefits from Exposure… far exceeding without harm… recalculating..?"
Anya stepped closer to Seb, staring at him then the projection. Valene? Exposure? Do you think she means the danger you felt?
I guess? It's the only thing that would make sense. But you reacted, you know what I felt.
She nodded, stepping closer and resting her hand on his arm. I guess there was some good in him scaring you half to death?
He grinned and shifted slightly, giving her room to see the feed more clearly. Seems like it, at least if the notes are good things.
Taking advantage of the moment Anya kept in step with Seb, shifting to lean against him as she read over his options and they waited for Phelann to clarify her reaction. Almost immediately the feed flickered, their combined movements enough to switch focus back to her once more.

…
As the information appeared Anya gasped. The feed had changed. It had added in the notes. But that meant-
"Phelann..?" she heard Seb call out. A moment later he repeated himself more loudly. "Phelann!"
As Phelann finally focused on them Seb stepped to the side, removing any question as to who the Interface was detecting before gesturing at the feed.
"WHAT!?!?"
