Past Tales

One day a woman would arrive in the village with her child.

At first glance they were a normal family so the village welcomed them with open arms, but as time passed strange

things would occur whenever they were around... it was as if disaster followed them.

No one confronted them about this for a while chalking it up to a weird coincidence.

It wasn't until a man named John and his son went to their home for a play date between John's son and the family’s son,

while watching the children play John asked the mom why they would always be near when disaster struck saying they must have the worst luck.

The mother would play along laughing it off while saying that she was a magnet of trouble ever since she was younger.

  John: "How so?"

Mother: "you knowww, as they say sometimes people use up all their luck on one thing in life. For me that would be my son"

She said with a smile, which John reciprocated.

John: "Fair point, guess we should expect lots from that little kid then huh?"

He said with a laugh to accompany it, which the mother gave a stern glare to.

Mother: "Dont place too many exceptions on my son you big oaf... but yeah... I happen to be a hypocrite and expect that as well, but don’t tell him I said that okay?"

She would put her finger up to her lips to show she was serious.

  John laughed

John: "He wouldn't understand anyways idiot"

Mother: "I meant in the future you IDIOT, don't call me an idiot, idiot."

As the time passed so did the storms, although they occurred often as of recent years they would often quickly

dissipate revealing a beautiful view into the distant horizons.

The villagers did not take it as a curse,

but instead as a trail from the sun god.

Thinking of it this way the villagers felt extreme ecstasy,

If they passed the trials would they finally be accepted as people of the light?

Would they finally stop staring at them as if they’ve just bathed in manure for hours when they visited cities for food?

Eventually the villagers at the end of every month would begin to perform rituals offering food to the sun god as

  payment for good weather.

At the end of every month the day would be full of joy and happiness

The 5th month of the ritual would roll around, same as usual but with one difference,

the family would be invited as well. Why? Because at this point many believed that the rumors were simply just that,

rumors that were built on more rumors.

So Villagers, this time including the family; begin to gather until everyone from the village is at the center of the village.

Food stands set up in rows while the torches light up the night sky.

As the preparations came to a close people would gather in the middle of the village carrying their best dish along with

  them.

In the middle of the crowd there would be a fancy carriage laced with red wool on the inside and patterned in gold far

  too expensive for the village.

The carriage was found by sheer luck a couple of years ago near the waterfalls at the edge of the continent.

The 2 priests that were hired at a costly price took a seat within the carriage,

taking seats within the priests would then be surrounded by hordes of food.

After everyone had gathered around the luxurious carriage,

  the people would sing,

  the carriage would move,

and the ritual of the sun would begin.

Horses pulled the carriage from place to place at a slowed pace while the priests took the time to litter the food around

  the land as they moved.

  It was peaceful

People would sing and the music would play as the villagers marched, but within the crowd a small cry could be heard.

As the cries continued the dark clouds from above would slowly cover the horizon slowly making their way to the villagers.

Mother: “Shhhh Shhhh, not now okay? You'll be okay. Mommy's right here”

  Baby: “WAHHH!! WAHHH!!!”

The clouds further darkened and approached at a heightened pace, worrying the villagers

Mother: “Shhhh, don't cry. Didn't I just say mamas here?”

The baby would continue to cry until it began to rain before slowly turning into thunder.

The first thunder would land upon the soil

  CRACKLE!!

Villagers worried, questioned if their ritual that had worked thus far had gone wrong.

Everyone would land onto 1 conclusion.

  Everyone(thoughts): “It must be them.”

The gazes of everyone would slowly find the eyes of the woman holding onto the child in her arms.

  Chief: "Then--"

Hera: "Stop stop stop, stop right there"

She said while having her hand on the back of her head as if shes really annoyed.

Chief(thoughts): "SHIT! did I mess up??"

Chief: "Y-yes? whats wrong? did I do something to offen--"

Hera: "I've heard enough to decide that they were who I was looking for is all."

The knight would get up from where she was standing and turn towards the door to leave

Chief(thoughts): "thank god... I thought I messed up. Well, guess I should thank the sun god huh?"

The chief would smile as the knight turned the knob of the door.

  Chief: "Safe travels knight"

He said waving goodbye which the knight would stop and look back to.

  Hera: "...Thank you, goodbye."

Hera(thoughts): "...I just know that story was about to get sad... that poor mother!!! and that child deserves better!"

Hera let out a heavy sigh.
