Chapter 12 – The Invisible Pressure

Selene didn’t walk far. She stopped just a few meters away, as if she were simply waiting for the next competitor.

But Lukas noticed she wasn’t watching the arena — she was watching him.

  — You felt it… didn’t you? — she asked quietly, in a tone that sounded more like a statement than a question.

  — Felt what? — Lukas replied, voice neutral.

  — When I passed by… the weight shifted. The air grew heavy, as if an anchor dropped between us.

  — No aura I know does that. — she added, now almost in a whisper.

  Lukas looked away.

“The Seal…” he thought. “It can’t be a coincidence.”

Inside his mind, César’s tone sharpened:

“She’s dangerous. Dangerous in a way you can’t control. The kind of woman who notices what others can’t.”

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

  Morgana laughed, sultry:

“Dangerous and delicious. I like her… eyes that promise death and kisses at the same time. Careful, chocolatinho, she’ll tear out your heart before you can even sigh.”

  Lukas kept his composure.

  — Must’ve just been the tension of the moment, he said, as if it meant nothing. — These things mess with us.

  Selene tilted her head.

  — Maybe. — But her gaze made it clear she didn’t believe a word. — Even so… if you ever discover where it comes from, I want to be there.

She passed by him, leaving behind a faint sweet scent in the air — something like honey mixed with fruit.

  Morgana sighed dramatically:

“She even smells like dessert… and you know I love sweets.”

  César snorted:

“You love corruption, that’s what you love.”

Selene, already walking away, stopped and glanced back over her shoulder:

  — Ah… and if you ever pass by the Tower of the Dark Eye, bring candied strawberries and peanut treats. I never refuse sweets.

Lukas watched her disappear into the crowd.

“So… the assassin of the Dark Eye House has a sweet tooth. Good to know.”

But deep down, he knew that conversation wasn’t over.

Selene had felt something real — and sooner or later, she would chase the answer.
