Chapter 57: Good Deeds Of The Day

The next day, Avryn spent the time walking around Storia. It had been some time since he had fully taken in the sights of the city. He woke up just in time when the shops opened, so he strolled around the shopper’s district.

He hung around the gunsmithing shops. Looking over some guns he had eyed before. Prices were too high for his liking. He always preferred making the guns, himself. He made a couple friends with a couple vendors after purchasing some magic bullets. They would prove useful in a future hunt.

He felt a scratching sensation on his neck and realized the Alpha wolf’s fang was getting in the way. He opted to sell it to a general shop in exchange for some magic crystals. With those in hand, he continued exploring around the city. He still had some credits left for things he’d rather want than need. He checked out the clothing stores and tried on some new clothes. He was a big jacket guy and bought up a bomber jacket which fitted his style all so well. He felt complete, for now.

Avryn was walking down the road until he noticed a bit of a commotion. Another group of children were huddled underneath a tree. He looked up, and lo and behold, another cat was stuck right near the top.

“Hey kids,” he greeted them. “Ya’ll need some help getting the cat down, I’m guessing?”

They all nodded collectively. The tree was smaller than the one in the slums, but still doable. Avryn had them stand back a few paces. He began his climb. The cat naturally climbed higher, away from him. This was getting to be problematic. If he climbed any higher, the branch he’ll reach would break off. He took some time to think. He would need to catch the cat as it fell. Psyching himself up, he climbed higher. The cat reached the highest point in the tree.

Avryn broke off the branch and leaped off to catch the cat. He tucked it in himself as he rolled through on the ground.

“Here you go. Make sure he doesn’t go up any more trees,” he gave the cat back to its owner.

He bid the kids goodbye. He continued exploring the city and noticed an elderly woman at one of the crossings. She looked anxious as she stared to the other side of the road. The cars were busy heading to their destinations. Avryn took the time and assisted her the street. He was thanked for his time with credits, but he politely refused and wished the woman well. Avryn was about to head to one of the cafes in the city until he heard some screaming near one of the alleys. Another mugging, he reckoned. He investigation the source of the sounds. He looked over and saw a rugged looking mugger. His gun was aimed at a young couple. The man shielded his woman.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

“Alright, need to make this real quick,” he whispered to himself.

Avryn jumped off the wall and kicked the gun away from the robber.

  “What the hell?!” he screamed.

Avryn followed up with an uppercut to the chin. He then grabbed the collar of the man, headbutted him so hard he fell to the ground. A flurry of punches later, the man was knocked out in a few seconds flat. Avryn got up from the scuffle. He was face to face with the couple. He nodded and introduced himself. That put them at ease. He pulled out his Scribe, called the local police, and informed them of the attempted robbery.

He sat on the body of the robber in a comedic fashion, and looked at the young man. He advised him to train to at least protect his girl. The young man nodded and offered his thanks. The police arrived in a matter of minutes and took the robber into custody. They thanked Avryn before getting back into their vehicle. He bid the couple farewell.

Avryn was about to continue exploring until he heard another scream, this time from a woman’s voice. He ran to where it was. Another robber, purse in hand, was running away from her. Avryn intercepted him with a mean tackle. They both tumbled to the ground with a loud thud. The robber wheezed as the air escaped from him. The impact as the back of his head hit the ground knocked him out indefinitely. Avryn took the purse,

“Here you go, lady,” he handed it back to her.

“Oh, thank you so much, young man,” she bowed before him.

The same policeman went up to the robber and put him in the car.

“Eventful day for you, huh?” he asked.

  “Seems so,” Avryn waved goodbye.

Fatigue set in, and so did hunger. He did not crave any particular kind of food. He wanted to go to the slums, so he did. He arrived at the bar and greeted Mr. Bartender. Haley and Vyktria was there for lunch.

“Well look who’s here, Mr. Big Shot,” Vyktria said.

  “Tired, food first,” he panted.

The bartender nodded and wrote in his order.

“I heard you slashed off the head off an Alpha Corpse Wolf in your last mission?” her curiosity piqued.

Avryn nodded along.. It was a switch for him every time he faced something or someone he considered strong. He couldn’t help it, that overwhelming feeling.

“I just love fighting strong opponents, that’s all,” he replied.

“Just like ol’ Leandros, huh?” she summed up.

Avryn’s drink and food was served. He grabbed the former and drank. He nodded.

“I won’t stop training until I surpass him, and Sir Iver,” he had a look of determination.

“See? This guy always talks about training,” Vyktria laughed.

“No, I think I get it,” Hayley interjected. “You admire them. So you train to meet their standards of you, which is your best.”

  Avryn nodded,

“If there’s anything that I’m good at, it’s fighting. Fighting the good fight is a bonus.”

“Interesting, interesting,” Vyktria took down some notes.

“What’re you doing?” Haley asked her.

“Adding it to my Avryn Starbright character profile,” she grinned.

  Avryn raised his eyebrow,

  “Your what?”

“Too technical for you. You can just continue eating your lunch,” she joked.

All of them enjoyed their time together.
