Hero VS The Dark God

In a plane of absolute darkness, a shining figure walked. The figure was a tall man with blond hair, glowing blue eyes with a square scared face. His armor shined with every color imaginable, a white cape billowed behind him with the crest of the Goddess of light. A golden sun pure and unadulterated for that is the light.

The man walked in what seemed like an endless void. Beneath his feet was a path of obsidian reflecting the light of the armor. This path led to a grand gothic victorian castle. While the castle was made of a black stone it still stood out in perfect clarity. Banners of purple tattered cloth hung from the palace aids on the cloth was the symbol of the Dark God. The symbol was a black sphere overlapping a crescent golden sun.

As the Hero of the Light Goddess approached, the grand gate opened and invited him in. Inside was a grand audience chamber. On the opposite end of the chamber sat an obsidian thrown with a man sitting atop it. He wore dull grey and tattered armor with an obsidian crown. A gem was seated in the crown, the gem seemed to absorb all light. An artifact that everyone knew, The Void Crown.

Seeing the man atop the thrown caused the Hero to pause. He was a young man about the same age as the Hero. He had long black hair and red gem like eyes that seemed distant. His face was handsome but lacked emotion. The mans face was a face that he saw many times in story books. It was the Hero that came before him.

Seeing the confusing on the Hero’s face caused the man to smirk as it was a familiar expression after all, he held the same expression once before. “I see I am still known, disappointing.” He said in a cold tone.

“But… Why? We thought you perished” The Hero asked.

The man let out a cold laugh “Good, good. I am glad they did that right at least.”

“You betrayed EVERYONE! Why?” the Hero growled the light encompassing him growing brighter.

“Tell me Sir, Hero what is light and dark?” the Dark God asked.

“I’m not entertaining you.” The Hero said then launched towards the Dark God. Sword raised high the Hero spoke the words of radiance and the blade glowed a brilliant gold. As the hero approached the Dark God a wall of obsidian rose putting a stop to the Hero. Chains of shadow shot up and locked the Hero in place.

“I ask you to at least let me explain why I ‘betrayed everyone’?” The Dark God said while standing from his thrown and summoning two small axes made of obsidian. The Hero snarled at the Dark God for a moment then relented.

“Thank you.” The Dark God said, “Back when I fought the previous Dark God, he asked me a similar question. I answered, ‘Light guide’s the way and shows everyone the truth hiding in the darkness, while the darkness oppresses those in the light’ of course he let out a chuckle then explained it to me. He told me his story, a story I’m sure you are aware of. Long ago was a time of prosperity, where every child had a smile, everyone had a home, there were no worries, hell there wasn’t even death. It was a joyous time on the surface. You see it was all an illusion though. Above them all in the halls of light the wench of a god sat in her thrown inviting her devotees to join her. Everyone thought that joining her halls was a good thing. You got to live with the Goddess and help spread her light.

However, everyone in her halls were under a soul contract. Some were made to be magic batteries so the Goddess can grow food for her livestock. Some were forced to become soldiers to fight her war on another planet. You see the previous Dark God was her favorite slave. He stood by her side at all times. He would go down and spread the word of her greatness, then return up above to be by her side again and serve her. He served her in many ways, bringing her food, speaking to her persist, deploying armies and commanding them, he even was her personal bed warmer.

At first things were great. The contract on his soul felt like a great comfort he did anything for her without a complaint. However, she started to get bored with Browen and decided to expand her influence on another world.

At first things went well and he would go in between and spread word of her. Unfortunately, the gods of Kyrun where none too pleased with her actions and started attacking her servant. At first, they told him to tell the Goddess to stick to her world, as the messenger he told her, and she wasn’t happy. In a fit of rage, she sent him flying across the room, causing him to die. She realized what she did and decided to create a new vessel for his soul to inhabit. He became her first messenger.

She sent him back to that world to continue spreading her word this time in his new body and able to change his appearance. He was able to avoid Kyrun’s gods for a bit but, they tracked him down again and again.

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Frustrated with the interference of Kyrun’s gods the Goddess declared war. She created more vessels like the Dark Gods and sent them to this other world under the Dark Gods command to spread her word and declare war, and so the great war started.

When ever the Dark God would fail, she would punish him. Whether it was by destroying his body or taking his descendants into the war. Every time she lashed out she would relies her mistake and make it up to him, whether with sex, or helping his descendants on Browen.

This lasted for a very long time, the chains around his soul started to fray. The goddess never noticed but it didn’t matter too much because her acts of ‘kindness’ caused him to fall in love. He thought he was making the mistake so he deserved to be punished but after his punishments she would pay him back. Again, this went on and on the chains around his soul at this point were finally shattered. During one of his campaigns, he lost and was captured by one of the gods on Browen.

The God of Darkness on Browen showed him the truth of light and dark. The light bent to create illusions while the dark protected others in the shadows. After this revelation and a long talk with The God of Darkness, the Dark God agreed to help in their fight against the Goddess. He returned to her ranks after being ‘rescued’ and fought the god from the inside. He would purposely lose fights and get punished. While this was happening the god’s on Kyrun came together to create an artifact for the Dark God.”

“The Void Crown.” The Hero snarled.

“Yes,” the Dark God chuckled. “The crown was created to give the wearer the power to combat Goddess. They gave him the crown and he went into hiding to build up his army. After some time, we got to the point where the Goddess approached me and gave me a divine mission and borrowed power. I fought the dark armies and fell in love and entered these chambers. When I entered these chambers the fist thing the Dark God did was dispel the illusion that was my wife. At first, I thought he killed her then we had a conversation, similar to one like ours. Then he showed me the truth that laid buried in the darkness. I didn’t believe him thinking that he was lying so we fought. I won, then I saw the truth for myself and picked up where he left off. So, I ask you lay down your sword and leave. I do not wish to burden anyone else with this responsibility. Return, find a lover and live a full life.”

“Not until I kill you.” The Hero snarled. The Dark God let out a sigh and dropped the barrier and chains.

“Very well.” He said then lifted his axes.

The Hero made the first move. Moving energy within his body caused him to move at the speed of light. He appeared right behind the Dark God his sword already halfway through the motion of a thrust. The Dark God, however, already had a shield of darkness around his body and the Hero’s sword came to a halting stop.

The Dark God vanished then appeared right next to the Hero an axe against the Heros throat and the other against the Heros sword arm. Like the Dark God the Hero had a shield of light covering his body. They broke apart and circled each other. In the corners of the cathedral rose a black oily liquid. These bodies of liquid formed into Black Knights. Soldiers in pitch colored armor and glowing red eyes. They charged at the Hero. The Hero summoned his own constructs. Radiant Knights appeared in the blink of an eye and met the Black Knights charger.

While this was happening, the Hero charged the Dark God and spoke the words of power. These words caused the Hero to emit an even brighter light, and his sword grew in size. The Hero start to swing his sword causing blades of light to detach and fly towards the Dark God. The Dark God countered with a similar technique blades of shadow left his axes and met the Heros slashes.

The two met, the Hero going for a slash and the Dark God meeting it with one of his axes. The Hero looked into the eyes the Dark God, he felt an immense wave of sadness in those ruby red eyes. That sadness in the eyes completely contradicted the smile on the Gods face. That smile infuriated the Hero casing him to double down his strength in their lock, causing the God to support himself with the other axe. The Hero started to channel to create a radiant bolt but was stopped when a kick collied with the Hero.

The force behind the kick caused the hero to slide backwards. Stumbling he arrested his slide and began to charge the God again. As the Hero approached whips of darkness shot from the God to slow the hero down. During this the God started to speak his own words of power. A sphere of void started to form, while the Hero could not see this void he knew that if someone who claims to be a god is speaking word of power it could only mean bad news. So, he used one of his aces. This ace dispelled all magic in the area for a time including his own but, it was worth the risk.

“Dispelling Light.” The Hero shouted and a wave of light exploded from the Hero. His armor and sword stopped glowing; his Radiant Knights dissipated with a crash of glass. The Dark God’s Black Knights lost cohesion, and his whips dispersed into thin air, along with the spell he was constructing.

The Hero started his charge again intending to end this fight with physical power rather than magical power. The Hero saw the smirk on the Gods face fall, this filled the Hero with confidence. He approached the God with a charging thrust. Just before the Hero reached the God the God leapt into the air doing a front flip, landing behind the Hero and delt a devastating blow to the Hero in the form of a round house kick. The kick connected with the Hero’s exposed side and sent him rolling.

“You know I thought this fight was going to be fun at first, then you dispelled all magic even your own.” The God said while tossing one of his axes up and down, “Do you remember who developed that spell. I did. Sure, that spell helped me win the fight with the previous Dark God, but your sword skills suck. Now get up!” he said as he approached the Hero tucking one of his axes away so he could pick of the Hero. Unfortunately the Hero smirked.

“Plan B was to beat you with only my sword skills. Plan A was to do this.” As the Hero said those words a surge of magic came from the Heros core.

“Don’t do that you idiot!” The Dark God said shock and surprise on the gods face just before bright light exploded from the Hero and the void claimed them both.
