Chapter 24: Divine Territory

Inside Uriel’s [Divine Territory], the legendary battle between him and Asmodiel unfolded. The territory emanated white flames that had the power to incinerate any caught within it. Being a level one territory, Uriel could enchant only two chapters during its creation, and he chose [Acts: Holy Fire] and [Job: Divine Restoration].

The moment Uriel stepped inside, his restorative powers kicked in, healing him completely. At the same time, his sure-hit flame attack struck Asmodiel dead-on.

  Uriel’s voice rang with triumph.

“Welcome to my Territory. You’ve already lost.”

But Asmodiel, master of fire, resisted the burn.

“I’m fire-resistant, dumbass. Your flames are nothing to me.”

Despite the boast, his legs trembled. Blood trickled from his nose. Constantly resisting the flames took a toll on him, and Uriel could see it.

Uriel stepped forward, calm and clinical.

“You talk big, but your soul betrays you. Look at you—bleeding, trembling. You’re finished.”

Asmodiel scoffed, “This little blood...? Please, that isn’t enough to stop me.”

  He roared, charging recklessly.

Uriel sidestepped and smashed a punch into his chest, sending him tumbling.

“Even if you land a hit, I’ll just heal. You’re back to square one.”

  Gasping, Asmodiel forced himself up.

“No matter how hopeless it is, no matter what you throw at me, I won’t lose.”

Uriel cocked his fist back, divine power charging.

“Stay down. You don’t stand a chance.”

Asmodiel, hunched over with a smirk.

“Do you know what my talent is?”

  Uriel narrowed his eyes.

  “Doesn’t matter. You’re done.”

He lunged—but before the blow landed...

  His hand exploded.

His eyes widened. What was that? But he swallowed the thought and pressed on, kicking at Asmodiel’s core.

He blocked, but the impact hurled him back. Regenerating his hand mid-movement, Uriel resumed the assault, punches raining down. Asmodiel blocked desperately, his arms breaking under the pressure.

  Top of Form

  Uriel struck again.

  “That’s fifty.”

The sound of bones cracking filled the realm, and Asmodiel screamed in pain as his hands went limp.

Uriel’s fist flashed towards Asmodiel’s head.

Asmodiel swiftly moved his head out of the way, but the punch spawned on his face, sending him flying.

  Uriel grinned.

“Didn’t you know? You can’t dodge in territories.”

Asmodiel skidded back, panting. It didn’t work? I need more time… He raised his guard, exhaling deeply.

“You ready to stop being a punching bag?”

  Uriel cracked his knuckles.

  “Good.”

He launched a flurry—left jab, high kick—each one deflected.

Uriel's brow twitched. How’s he stopping me? My stats are higher, I’m fully healed, and he can’t use techniques… this should be impossible!

Irritated, Uriel surged forward with faster, sharper blows. Asmodiel deflected each one, counting under his breath.

  “Ten… Nine…Eight...”

Uriel further amplified his speed, but the results remained the same. No matter how fast he got, Asmodiel was always a step ahead.

  “Seven…Six…Five…”

Uriel added projectiles. Asmodiel stepped back, redirecting them into each other, nullifying their effects.

  “Four…Three…”

Uriel’s attacks grew frenzied, desperate. Asmodiel’s defence became a dance—smooth, calculated, perfectly timed.

He deflected Uriel’s attacks in such a way, he was off-balance.

Utilising the opportunity, Asmodiel threw a left hook, but Uriel ducked under it, retreating to regain his balance.

  “Two…”

Uriel lunged, launching a [Divine flash], infinity jab.

Asmodiel raised his hand to deflect, but Uriel faked it, halting mid-strike.

  His block missed, stunning him.

Uriel grinned and amplified the punch with [Acts: Double Impact].

The speed and potency of his punch increased.

Uriel’s fist came within millimetres of Asmodiel’s face.

  He felt it—victory.

  He couldn’t hide his smile.

  Then…

  Asmodiel grinned, muttering, “One.”

Before dodging by a hair’s breadth.

Uriel’s eyes widened. That’s impossible? How did he—

A piercing front kick lunged into his gut, launching him backwards.

The kick only landed because Uriel was stunned—no one had ever dodged a guaranteed strike before. Even then, his elbow came within a hair’s breadth of deflecting it.

Uriel skidded back, holding his gut.

“Didn’t I tell you—” he began, but fell to one knee, wheezing, blood dropping from his mouth.

  What just happened? Am I…bleeding?

He cleaned the blood from his mouth in disbelief.

  Asmodiel grinned.

“Sorry, couldn’t hear you. Wanna repeat that?”

  Uriel growled.

  “What did you do?”

"I took a gamble, that’s all," Asmodiel said.

"I enhanced your attacks—made them deadlier. In exchange, mine now inflict lasting damage."

Uriel stared in disbelief. Is he crazy? What if he lost immediately after he entered?

  But one question burned brighter.

“How did you dodge in my territory?”

  Asmodiel approached.

“I used my talent to mess with your territory’s barrier. Do you want to know what it is?”

Uriel’s mind raced. If I learn it, I can counter it…

  “Tell me.”

  He struggled to his feet.

  Asmodiel’s lips curled.

“Particle manipulation. I control them so precisely… I can shift them forward or backwards in time.”

Uriel froze, jaw slack. That’s… broken.

Before he could fully process the information, Asmodiel dashed forward and landed a sidekick on Uriel’s gut, and blood erupted from his mouth as he flew backwards.

Mid-air, Uriel twisted into a backflip, catching himself. He landed, crouched, seething.

Asmodiel charged, quicker than before, resisting Uriel’s sure hit easier.

Did he get faster? Right after revealing his talent... another Heavenly Pact?

Uriel narrowed his eyes, extending his hand as he condensed his sure hit around his target. Flames coiled, warping through the air, but Asmodiel’s tore them apart with ease.

“Come on,” Asmodiel taunted. “Got anything better?”

He stomped the ground, cracking Uriel’s divine territory.

  Uriel panicked. I’m losing control!

He funnelled all his power into offence. His mana circuits burned as his flames flared hotter, swallowing Asmodiel. Uriel smirked.

But Asmodiel shot through the inferno, landing a [Divine Flash] directly on Uriel’s chest, obliterating it.

Uriel was hurled back before landing motionless on the ground.

Due to the significant damage Uriel accrued, his hold over his territory wavered, allowing Asmodiel to dismantle it using his talent.

  No…

Uriel groaned, struggling to take back control, but it was too late.

His Territory was shattered, as they were returning to the arena, Asmodiel threw another [Divine Flash], aiming to end the fight.

Uriel, noticing this, swiftly controlled where he would return in the arena—into the cage. A testament to his mastery.

Asmodiel realises this and backflips away with ease.

  “Nice trick. But—"

He paused, eyes wide—Uriel was somehow behind him.

  “Surprise,” Uriel whispered.

Asmodiel swiftly turned, charging a fire blast.

“Your mana circuits are fried, and your surprise attack failed…I win.”

He launched his fire blast, but somehow Uriel launched a blast of his own to Asmodiel’s shock. The clash sent both fighters flying.

Asmodiel hit the cage wall, and Uriel hit the floor.

  They both regenerated and rose.

Since Uriel had more mana, he could utilise more destructive chapters with ruthless precision, giving him the advantage.

For angels, lower mana didn’t slow their souls, but it meant fewer spells and slower healing.

Uriel kept his distance, unleashing [Genesis Reversal: Destruction Wave], bombarding Asmodiel into retreat.

  Asmodiel gritted his teeth.

  I can’t get close…This isn't good; if it continues, I’ll…

  He deftly evaded Uriel’s assault.

Uriel surged forward, continuing to put Asmodiel on the defensive.

I had to use all the mana I got back from my territory to heal my injuries, but at this moment, I have the advantage. Even so…I need to end the fight quickly before he gains the upper hand.

He unleashed multiple waves of destruction. Asmodiel barely avoided them, but suffered grazes to his shoulder and forehead.

I’m back to how I was at the beginning of the fight, but… Uriel thought.

He channelled power into a kick— [Destruction Wave] amplifying it.

Even after Asmodiel dodged, the kick grazed his head.

I see only two win conditions. Even with activating my Territory and landing multiple [Divine Flashes] launched... I haven’t reached the Zone. It must be a heavenly pact.

If I force him to fulfil it, I’ll win through sheer mana endurance. Or...

Uriel pressed on with his relentless assault, slamming destructive waves at Asmodiel. The angel darted between them with expert precision, yet faint traces of damage licked his soul.

“Tch,” Asmodiel hissed, teeth clenched as flickers of pain sparked behind his eyes.

...I wear him down with [Genesis Reversal]. Unlikely. I have to force him to fulfil the pact.

Uriel lunged with rapid jabs. Asmodiel slipped past each one and slammed a perfectly timed front kick into Uriel’s gut. The blow drove Uriel back, his breath catching in his throat as he skidded across the ground.

He can’t keep using [Genesis Reversal] forever. It’s not as taxing as [Infinity Jab], but it still difficult to perform. If I hold out just a bit longer, the pact will trigger... and I win.

  Asmodiel smirked and shot forward.

Uriel raised both hands, unleashing a furious fusion technique—

[Genesis Reversal X Numbers: Multiple Waves of Destruction].

Explosions tore through the battlefield. Dozens of destructive arcs rained in from all sides. Asmodiel flipped, dodged, spun, vaulting into the air—his soul a blur of motion.

A heavenly seal appeared above him, Its radiant glow bathed the field in divine light.

Asmodiel’s eyes narrowed. “[Chronicles: Divine Nullification],” he chanted quickly, wrapping the spell around his soul. He twisted mid-air and braced for impact.

An explosion erupts from the seal.

The blast hurled him downward like a meteor. Disoriented, Asmodiel steadied his breathing as he flipped and landed with precision.

That seal...It’s a trap linked to his heavenly pact. Even blocked the shockwaves barrel through your defence. Good thing I used nullification.

Uriel flashed forward, his fist wreathed in the overwhelming force of Genesis Reversal layered with Divine flash, rushed towards Asmodiel’s skull.

Isn’t that ironic... Jophiel observed from afar, her expression unreadable. You are going to lose to the move you wanted to beat me with.

Asmodiel’s lips curl to a smile, glaring at the incoming Uriel.

Uriel noticed and frowned. Why’s he smiling…?

  Then...he looked down.

  His eyes widened.

  Asmodiel’s hands were clasped together.

Uriel snapped back into focus. Doesn’t matter. I’ll make this hit count.

He layered his fist with a blend of:

  [Godspeed X Ecclesiasis: Undodgeable Flash]

His fist gleamed, burning with celestial velocity.

  Asmodiel raised his voice calmly.

  “Divine Territory.”

  A pulse.

  But nothing shifted.

No transportation. No environmental shift. No grand transition.

Instead, Uriel stood frozen mid-strike—his soul still, his mouth slack, drool spilling like a puppet with cut strings.

  Gasps rippled through the audience.

  To them, Uriel appeared... broken.

  Paralyzed.

  Statue-like.

  Only Asmodiel moved.

An instantaneous Divine Territory, Samael realised. Not one that heals the mana circuits... but one that ensures a sure hit with no possible counter.

A move that should be impossible, but Asmodiel added a heavenly pact to not only make it possible but maximise the damage Uriel received from the sure-hit.

Uriel’s [Undodgeable Flash] should have connected—even within a divine territory—but Asmodiel had altered the rules of engagement. He converted the narrative of infinite futures into raw divine particles and launched them omnidirectionally at Uriel’s soul.

  His brain fried.

His nerves lit up like lightning trees.

  He was done.

Asmodiel glared at the frozen Uriel, reeling from the backlash.

I notice the flaw in your eyes Uriel. After using your Territory, you swapped back to future sight, you just couldn’t handle that much information, could you?
