Chapter One: Accidental Capture

"Boss, we got the target." "Sylvia, it's not boss, it's Onna-Oyabun. How many times do I need to tell you and Ceceilia that?" "Angel, your white otaku ass needs to get off our case. For an Italian, you're lucky Sylvia ain't calling Tomoe godmother. And what do you expect from a Brazilian like me, hmm?" Ceceilia dragged the body bag across the floor.

"Sylvia, Ceceilia, Angel. You three didn't kill the target, right?" Yeon-ji placed her hand on her hip, "Of course not. I was with these two idiots instead of our resident German, Nikki, or our resident Latina, Mia." Angel answered. "Kill yourself, you cracker ass puta." Mia barked, "You're the reason I'm a raging alcoholic." Nikki set her sake on the table. "Just get them out of the body bag." Yuzhen sighed. "The faster Katsu gets to interrogate the target, the faster I get to hit up the Red Light district." Willow sparked up a cigarette.

"Is there a KFC in the Red Light district now?" Sylvia tilted her head, "Ayo, boss. Get your ass out here before I put some holes in Sylvia." Willow called out. "My god, do you eight have to fucking yell every time I'm not in the room?" Tomoe walked into the room. "Now, pull out Valentin Smirnov." Tomoe pulled Willow's cigarette out of her mouth.

Ceceilia unzipped the body bag, pulling out a Russian woman. A woman? Valentin Smirnov is the masculine version of the name. Someone messed up somewhere. I don't see Angel messing up something like this. Was it just the fact that someone forgot to add the As or...? Yuzhen watched Ceceilia and Slyvia tie the girl to the chair. "Nikki, you know Russian. Right?" Tomoe glanced towards Nikki, "I can translate Russian. I can't speak it. Yuzhen can, though. Our Chinese beauty spent a lot of time learning before we got involved with the Russians." Nikki answered.

"Wh-where am I? And who are you people?" The woman cried, "She said where is she and who are we." Nikki translated. "You're in Japan, specifically Kanto. We're members of the Haijukyo yakuza, our boss, Tomoe 'Katsu' Mirai, has some questions about your actions, Valentin Smirnov." Yuzhen answered. "Valentin? My name is Valentina Smirnova, but my family calls me Valya...wa-wait, yakuza!? Am I going to die? I-I didn't even get to see my little brother go off to middle school yet...wa-was I able to close up the flower shop?" Valentina said, while Nikki translated everything.

"Eh? Valentina? Does she know a Valentin Smirnov?" Yeon-ji looked at Yuzhen, "Do you have any connections with a man named Valentin Smirnov?" Yuzhen asked. "Yeah, he's my twin sister's husband...though he's a good man, so you must be after the wrong man," Valentina answered. "Uhh...what was the reference photo we gave Angel again?" Mia whispered, "Here." Angel handed Mia the photo.

Hmm...yep, she's the one in the photo behind the flower shop counter. Maybe our target was somewhere in the photo? "Yuzhen, see if her brother-in-law is in this photo." Mia handed Yuzhen the photo. "Is Valentin in this photo?" Yuzhen handed Valentina the photo, "Yeah. He's the one buying the lilies." Valentina pointed at the photo. "Great. We have the wrong person all because the photo captured her primarily instead of him...if he's her brother-in-law, check to see if her family is involved in his narcotics and the Russian mob." Tomoe sighed.

"What does your family do?" Yuzhen asked, "Me, my twin sister, my aunt, and my mom run a flower shop, my paternal babushka watches after my little brother until my twin and I get back home, while my maternal babushka is bedridden. I believe Valentin is a pharmacist, if I remember what my twin told me correctly." Valentina tilted her head. She is...oddly cooperative. Usually, captives would be in tears and not talk until Willow or Ceceilia began making threats. Well, I believe that she can be untied. Yeon-ji untied Valentina.

"What does your your father, grandfathers, and uncle do? You only mentioned the women in your family, which makes me curious about the men." Yuzhen asked. "My paternal dedushka died when I was two after cheating on my paternal babushka multiple times due to a heart attack. My maternal dedushka died sometime after my maternal babushka divorced him for gambling their life savings away. My father was sent to jail for some reason after a school field trip for something about playing with kids and finding children videos on his phone, which seems like bogus, my father was a great teacher, though it was weird how my father favored my sister more when she started developing before I did. And my uncle was a special police officer, he trained a small group of soldiers for a special force in the military." Valentina smiled.

"Is it just me, or is every man in her family but her little brother a piece of shit?" Sylvia whispered, "A pedophile, a terrorist, and someone tied to the underworld. See why she worked in a family-owned flower shop." Willow whispered. "Why did your family work in a flower shop? Is money tight?" Yuzhen asked. "Oh, it's so we can afford to have my little brother go to college. My twin and I didn't get to go, since we were helping our mom and aunt with the flower shop and watching after our little brother. While my twin learned all about maintaining the house from our mom, I learned everything about plants through some of our books, and taught our little brother plant facts. While my uncle and brother-in-law provide us with money, we use that money for my maternal babushka's treatment. While my sister uses what she earns on household stuff, like the bills, a laptop for our little brother, a landline phone, a TV for our little brother, and the internet. I used what I had earned for groceries and books. While my mom and aunt saved up their earnings for my little brother's college fund. As we want to send him to the States for his college, he's really smart, so I'm sure he'll do great there." Valentina answered.

"This bitch sounds like a fucking saint. And she was in charge of getting their meals." Ceceilia whispered, "Would you have expected your little brother to help you financially after going through college if he had a good job?" Yuzhen asked. "Why would we? It'll be his money." Valentina shook her head. How could this saint, an angel, be connected to the underworld in any fucking way!? And thanks to a simple photo screw-up, here she is in Kanto, kidnapped! Tomoe grabbed her head.

"Do you know the number of your landline?" Yuzhen asked. "No, but I know the Google Meet room code that I use to talk with my little brother when I'm doing errands." Valentina answered, "Good, good. Boss, get her a phone or laptop so she can tell them where she is, and we can apologize." Yuzhen looked over her shoulder. "Angel was right, I shouldn't have broken her phone." Ceceilia scratched her head, "Right. That's the natural order of events in this situation...I guess someone teach her English so Nikki doesn't have to keep translating." Tomoe left the room.
