While the unit was all prepared for travel over the english channel and combat in the netherlands, they were all shook awake by the sudden attack of a harbinger. Yet, the men of the company have all the encouragement to fight due to Captain Eleanor's speach. Now, the battle truly begins.

  "Deploy the FOBPA's out there! We need air support when we deploy the Challenger squads.", Eleanor ordered.

  "Aim the main beam cannons at the enemy harbinger and fire when ready.", she added.

  "Aim beam cannons, load missile pods with Thermites and Plowders, fire on will!", the deputy chief then commanded.

  "Captain, the FOBPA's are deployed!", reported from the hangars.

  "Send out the Challenger squads, our mission is to buy time!", the captain replied.

  Meanwhile, the Challenger tanks on the ground are nimble enough to dodge incoming attacks, however, they could not defeat the harbinger even with the FOBPA's which could only distract the harbinger and aim for lucky shots at its tails and claws.

  After a bit of time, the last fresh Challenger squad was to be deployed and leading it was a distinctly colored custom Challenger with a blue camo and white star, this was the unit's hotshot wannabe.

  "Remember James, no reckless movement?"

  "Sorry can't hear you too focused!", he replied as he recklessly moved against the harbinger dodging attacks.

  This James guy was indeed skilled no doubt, but he was still nothing compared to AI with 10 years of experience and an overpowered vehicle.

  Anyhow, as James dodge a near miss of the mechanism's claw, he managed to shoot an exposed hinge at one of its knees and the concentrated plasma melted through the metal disabling one leg.

  However, just as he celebrated, its tail came crashing down onto his position, it was only a miracle that a FOBPA managed to block the path of the tail with its twin beam cannon.

  "Stop being reckless James!"

  "I'm taking it down can't you see? I don't need to follow your orders, we can't possibly be here only to delay the enemy.", he strongly stated.

  "Just bloody follow the orders!"

  Then, there was a large crash, it was a Challenger crushed below the foot of this monster and finally everyone felt the weight of this situation.

  Then it stopped, then it for some reason shone, and then there was a flash, then a line of burned ground with five more Challengers destroyed appeared. The machine was devastating the Challengers and even just delaying it seemed impossible.

  James being the hothead he is too this as an oppurtunity to then charge at the leopard-like machine and somehow dodge another claw before firing a shot towards that same claw and firing at a mildly exposed part of a joint disabling it aswell.

  "Let's go I got another one! Who needs to even delay this thing I could defeat this here and now!", he proclaimed

  Suddenly, as he was busy bragging upon his great achievemnt, the tail of the behemoth charged at him from behind and there was no way of evading it.

  However, out of nowhere, "James!", someone shouted as they aimed their FOBPA's twin beam cannons at the tail and with a flash, the beam successfully blocked the path of the tail once again, saving him once again.

  However, while James had an unmeasurable amount of luck, the others did not and they all got picked off one by one, either by a tail penetrating the advanced yet measly armor of their Challengers and FOBPA's or by the tremendously powerful beam cannon that was melting to the core of their vehicles.

  "Ok you know what, maybe I'm done out here, I need to rearm. Hold the line guys!"

  "What are we even delaying for at this point? It sure is taking a long time before this reinforcement arrives.", complained a squad leader.

  Fortunately, little did they know that this reinforcement was about to arrive.

  Meanwhile in hangar 3, the order came out, "Get Rinmann out there!", and everyone knew what to do.

  "Oh looks like I have to do something, better than doing nothing I guess.", Suzina said as she made her way to her vehicle.

  "Rinmann, looks like you're finally here, you might have to wait a bit longer since we are doing the final adjustments for that thing." The head engineer of the unit said.

  He added; "But Rinmann... are you sure you can handle this thing? Can you beat the monster outside with this? Those Challengers and FOBPA's won't be too much help for you out there."

  "This is my turn to shine, trust me on this", she said.

  Meanwhile, the front had not gotten any better as more and more challengers fell. Fortunately, James was finally back in the field. After coming out of the ship, he immediately began being reckless once again.

  He would do insane dodges and try to hit impossible shots always. He decided to hit for the head this time.

  "Hey Luna, mind supporting me? Just kind of don't let me be hit."

  "What are you even thinking? Fine, tell me where you are I'll get my FOBPA to support you.", she replied to James.

  And then James charged, he was still skillful, he dodged multipled hits in a row. Luna managed to keep his back safe as he tried to manuever to his position. However, the harbinger was not just machine, it was developing AI and this time, it was the one out manuevering James.

  And then the mechanism did something that shocked everyone, it stopped, then there was a flash, then another monstrous beam. However, to everyone's horror, it was not aimed at them, but at the city behind them almost destroying the entire downtown area.

  They watched in terror as entire blocks of the city of Brighton were annihilated. Innocent people died without warning and the crew members of the unit witnessed this first hand.

  James himself was both surprised and offended, not only did the harbinger ignore him, it also targeted the city instead of him.

  He was mad, this monster was disrespectful to him in the sacred grounds of battle, of course the mechanism doesn't have the ideas of sacred, but still, James was a hothead and he felt offended.

  "You soulless being! You just violated the rules of warfare. But I guess you never really cared for those anyway!", he shouted as he was about to charge his Challenger back into battle.

  However, Rinmann was ahead of him, and there was a flash, and then she pierced the leopard with the rapier of her vehicle, an 18 meter tall humanoid one at that.

  In one short attack, she had successfully destroyed the enemy cleanly through the middle and it was no more.
