Chapter 19: The Angel, The Confession, and The Savage

  A few days later.

In the darkness of night, Saamyn slowly opened his eyes. The moment he did, he was utterly astonished.

Saamyn was dressed in white, as if standing in an unknown, mysterious place.

He saw that in the deep stillness of the night, the area looked like a dream. Everywhere around him were countless flowers — red, blue, white, and purple.

The air felt unreal — light, soft, as if breathing itself was optional here.

A gentle breeze made the flowers sway softly, spreading a delicate fragrance that filled the surroundings with an unusual sense of peace and tenderness.

Looking up, he saw the sky full of innumerable stars, like countless diamonds scattered across the black canvas of the night. Their light fell upon the flowers, making the place shine even brighter.

The silence above him felt vast, pressing gently against his thoughts.

At that moment, countless fireflies floated around, illuminating the area. Each flicker felt alive, like whispers moving through the dark.

Their tiny lights danced in the air, sometimes resting near the flowers, sometimes blending into the starry sky above.

The combination of flowers, stars, and fireflies made the place feel like a realm from another world.

Saamyn looked around, awestruck. Suddenly, his gaze stopped at one spot. He looked ahead and saw — amid the countless flowers, under the star-filled sky and surrounded by the glowing fireflies — stood a mysterious figure.

A soft, white radiance emanated from her body. Nothing of her face or form could be seen clearly — only a sacred shape glowing from within the light.

A strange calm washed over him — his chest felt heavy, yet peaceful.

Her long hair reached down to her knees. The top shimmered with a golden glow, gradually transitioning to silver in the middle, and ending in a deep, luminous light at the tips.

The glow felt warm, almost painfully beautiful. As the cold breeze blew, her hair swayed gently, as if merging with the stars in the sky.

The flowers and fireflies gathered around this radiant figure, making her seem even brighter, as though the entire nature had focused its glow on her.

The scene made it clear — this was no ordinary girl, but rather an angel descended from another world.

Saamyn slowly started moving toward her. Every step felt both natural and terrifying.

Within moments, she was right in front of him. The girl gently extended her hand toward Saamyn, and he reached out to touch it.

The instant he did, Saamyn’s eyes suddenly opened. The warmth vanished instantly, replaced by cold reality.

He realized he was lying on his bed in his dark bedroom, his hand raised toward the air.

Saamyn understood — it had all been just a dream. He covered his face with one hand, but slowly, tears began to fall from his eyes.

His chest tightened as if something precious had slipped away forever.

Saamyn got up from the bed and slowly made his way to the bathroom. Looking at him, it seemed as if he had broken from the inside.

In the dark bathroom, he stood in front of the mirror and began washing his face. The reflection staring back felt unfamiliar — broken.

In a deep, cold whisper, he murmured to himself:— “Her return is impossible… yet I will wait for her all my life.”

  Some time later.

Saamyn stood on top of the parapet wall surrounding the roof. Below him was a deep darkness, and above, the sky was filled with countless stars.

The height made his thoughts feel heavier, sharper. The cold night wind gently lifted his hair.

The chill cut through him, but he didn’t react. He stood silently, gazing at the sky, as if his eyes were lost in the infinity above.

He stood motionless — seemingly detached from the world, transported to another realm. The surrounding silence and the star-filled sky combined to envelop him in an eerie peace and mystery.

Saamyn looked at the sky and, with a pained half-smile, whispered in a calm voice:— “I do not live in the darkness… the darkness lives within me.”

Then, lowering his head, he exhaled and murmured:— “Why do I feel her presence so strongly… yet know I will never have her?”

Saamyn didn’t move from there. He kept gazing at the sky as the sun slowly rose. The golden light of dawn gently touched his face, as if an unfamiliar warmth brushed against him. The warmth felt distant — almost undeserved.

After some time, Saamyn went downstairs and sat at the dining table. There he saw that Ymraan had cooked the meal himself.

The smell of food felt comforting, yet meaningless. Seeing Saamyn, Ymraan asked in a calm voice:— “Another sleepless night?”

Saamyn replied in a cold, steady tone:— “Yes, again.”

Ymraan said nothing further. Sometimes silence spoke louder than words. He didn’t even try to make a joke. It was as if whenever Saamyn’s heart grew heavy, Ymraan’s heart unknowingly carried the weight too.

  Morning at school.

Like every day, the school was lively in the morning. The sound of lockers opening, bags rustling — everything combined to create a familiar rhythm. On the desks, books and notebooks were neatly arranged.

The teacher was writing on the board, while the students watched attentively. The rustle of paper and soft whispers blended together, forming a perfect classroom melody. The normalcy around him felt strangely distant.

During lunch break, students headed outside, chatting and laughing, bringing a lively energy to the school environment.

Saamyn, despite being among everyone all day, seemed empty inside. Today, during lunch, while everyone else scattered around the school, Saamyn quietly drifted to one side.

Crowds couldn’t fill the emptiness inside him. Meanwhile, Ymraan, Rayn, Haarun, Yuqeen, and Mayya were walking toward the cafeteria.

Haarun quietly asked Ymraan:— “Ymraan, can you tell me why Saamyn isn’t with us today?”

Ymraan replied straightforwardly:— “She has some work with Nazar, so she went to his office.”

After that, everyone quietly moved toward the cafeteria. Nearby, several girls were glancing at Ymraan, whispering among themselves.

Their curiosity hovered in the air like static. A little later, Sa’ut shouted from behind Rayn:— “Hey Rayn, you need to stop!”

Rayn muttered to himself:— “Why does this kid keep coming from behind?

Everyone turned and saw Sa’ut and Hinnah approaching. With them was the 2nd-year president, Riyy. His presence subtly shifted the atmosphere.”

Riyy, Sa’ut, and Hinnah came closer, and Riyy spoke in a calm voice:— “Girls, can you spend a little time away from us boys?”

Yuqeen asked in a calm voice:— “But why, President?”

Riyy replied in the same composed manner:— “Because I have something to discuss with them — something I wish to tell only them.”

Hearing Riyy’s words, no one said anything further. Yuqeen, Hinnah, and Mayya quietly walked away.

The space felt heavier once they left. Then Haarun asked politely:— “President Kazahaya, what is it that you wish to discuss with us?”

Riyy looked at them calmly and said:— “There’s no need to call me President. You may call me Kazahaya, or simply Riyy. I don’t mind. As for what I want to discuss, I’ll say it in the cafeteria.”

With that, Ymraan and Riyy started walking ahead, followed by Rayn, Haarun, and Sa’ut.

After a short while, Haarun suddenly stopped, startled, as though something had just struck his memory. The others turned to him in surprise.

In an excited voice, Haarun exclaimed:— “I completely forgot! In just a few days, we have our exams. And right after that begins the Silver Days!”

His words, however, seemed to have little effect on Rayn, Sa’ut, or even Riyy — as if they had already been prepared for the exams long before.

Haarun’s words made Ymraan, while walking, ask in a deep voice:— “Exam at this time?”

In response to Ymraan’s question, Riyy calmly said:— “Yes, you heard it right. The exams are happening now. Lumynara International High School is not like an ordinary school. Here, exams are held ten times a year.”

The words carried pressure beneath their calm delivery. Ymraan muttered irritably:— “Just hearing the word ‘Exam’ makes everyone exhausted, and here they happen ten times!”

Riyy continued:— “From the outside, our school may seem like any other school, but inside it is much stricter. Students can enjoy themselves like in other schools, but never beyond the rules.”

Ymraan asked irritably:— “Alright, but what exactly are these Silver Days?”

A strange tension settled in the air — something important was coming.

Riyy smiled slightly and replied joyfully:— “Good question. In a normal person’s life, there are some Golden Days. On those days, a person enjoys life the most, and that time remains the best in their memory forever.”

The words carried a softness that felt almost nostalgic. There was a quiet pride in his smile, like he genuinely believed in every word.

After a short pause, Riyy continued:— “After exams, there’s a two-week spring break, and during that break, the Lumina Festival takes place. Our school’s name is derived from this festival.”

Riyy took a breath and added:— “Once the school break ends, the school festival begins. This festival is very different from other schools. Then comes the Sports Festival. After that, there’s a 40-day summer break, during which the Summer Festival takes place.”

The rhythm of his explanation felt rehearsed, as if he had said this many times before. Ymraan, along with Rayn, Haarun, and Sa’ut, listened carefully to Riyy’s words.

After a pause, Riyy continued:— “These days are called Silver Days. Our school has created this special time for all students, filled only with fun and enjoyment. Lumynara International High School knows well that if people experience joy in life, it should start in their school years.”

A faint excitement stirred among them, mixed with curiosity.

Ymraan asked calmly:— “I’ve heard all this, but when does the Graduation Ceremony happen?”

Riyy replied joyfully:— “The Graduation Ceremony happens at the beginning of the year.”

Ymraan exhaled slightly and said to Riyy softly:— “I’m not in a good mood today, so you’re lucky. Forget everything else, I’ve heard you always come second in exams.”

His voice was calm, but the edge beneath it was sharp. Riyy replied excitedly:— “Yes, you heard it right.”

Hearing this, Ymraan smirked slightly with a badass attitude and said:— “Alright, from now on, no second place for you.”

The air shifted instantly, like something competitive had just awakened.

Everyone was surprised by Ymraan’s words, as his tone had completely changed in an instant. Riyy replied joyfully:— “Alright, we’ll see.”

Talking as they walked, they reached the cafeteria. As soon as they entered the cafeteria, a strange calmness spread through the place.

The usual noise felt muted, as if everyone sensed something different. Many students turned to look at them.

Ymraan glanced at Riyy and said in a calm voice:— “Say whatever you need to. But I want to be alone for a while.”

His words felt final — no room for argument. Saying this, he went to order food and then sat down at an empty seat.

Riyy, Rayn, Haarun, and Sa’ut moved toward some empty seats in the corner and sat down. After sitting, Rayn asked calmly: — “Kazahaya, what is it that you want to tell us?”

Riyy let out a long sigh and said:— “What I’m about to say now is not as the president. I will say it as Riyy aev Kazahaya.”

No one replied to his words. After a few moments of silence, Riyy hurriedly said:— “I need your help.”

For the first time, hesitation crept into his voice. Sa’ut asked in a confused tone:— “How are we supposed to help you?”

Riyy quickly replied:— “I want you to tell me how to confess my feelings to a girl.”

The confession felt strangely vulnerable coming from him. At his words, Rayn, Haarun, and Sa’ut looked completely confused.

Rayn said straightforwardly:— “Kazahaya, is this some kind of joke? And who are you even trying to confess to? You already have Satsuqy aev Aokam.”

Hearing this, Riyy made an odd expression, then replied firmly:— “What are you talking about? Since when was Satsuqy my girlfriend?”

The three of them were stunned. Haarun hurriedly asked:— “Wait, so Satsuqy aev Aokam isn’t your girlfriend?”

Riyy replied calmly but clearly:— “No, she’s just my friend.”

The three were so shocked that none of them knew what to say. After a short silence, Rayn sighed and asked in a calm tone:— “Alright then, who do you like? And why can’t you confess to her?”

Riyy looked a little flustered, then stammered:— “Ah… actually… I like Satsuqy.”

Then, immediately correcting himself, he blurted out:— “No, I love her. Normally, I’m fine around her, but whenever I try to confess my feelings, my heartbeat suddenly races… and then I can’t say anything.”

Hearing this, the three of them went completely expressionless. All three of them said together in a low voice:— “We don’t know what kind of specimen they chose to make him president.”

The tension cracked slightly, replaced by awkward humor.

At this, Riyy looked around, then closed his eyes, sighed, and said in a calm voice:— “That specimen is our principal.”

Rayn thought to himself:— “So this is the president’s true self. On the outside, he seems calm and confident. But in reality, Riyy aev Kazahaya is just like us.”

That thought made him oddly relatable. Meanwhile, Ymraan was calmly eating his food. At that moment, a few girls nearby were watching him and whispering among themselves.

Their glances lingered longer than necessary. Girl-A, blushing, whispered:— “He’s so handsome! And look how calmly he’s sitting.”

Girl-B, excited yet shy, whispered:— “Do you think he’d talk to us? And what’s his name?”

Girl-C, in a shy voice, said:— “His name is Sarqaan. But I don’t think he’d talk to us. Can’t you see how quiet he is? Do you think he has a girlfriend?”

Suddenly, Girl-A stood up from her seat:— “I’ll try talking to him.”

She carried her food tray over to Ymraan and nervously said:— S-s-Sarqaan, can I sit in front of you?

Her steps were slow, betraying her nerves. Ymraan looked at her and replied bluntly:— “Is this seat reserved under my name? If you think it is, then don’t sit.”

The words landed cold, without hesitation. Hearing such a reply, the girl grew even more nervous. Without saying anything, she sat down. After a pause, she nervously asked:— “S-s-Sarqaan, do you have a girlfriend?”

Ymraan looked at her and said firmly:— “Why are you asking that?”

The girl, flustered, replied:— “N-no, I just… asked randomly.”

Ymraan calmly said:— “No, I don’t have a girlfriend.”

Hearing that, a happy glow appeared on her face. She hurriedly asked:— “Why don’t you have a girlfriend? Why are you still single?”

After staying silent for a while, Ymraan let out a deep sigh and said:— “I can’t take it anymore.”

Something in his eyes shifted — calculating. Then, holding the girl’s hand, he spoke in a gentle voice:— “I don’t know if you’ll believe me, but honestly, I love you so much. From the very first day I saw you, I’ve been thinking of only you.”

His touch felt convincing enough to blur reality. Hearing his words, a shy smile spread across the girl’s face, while shock appeared on her friends’ faces — they were completely stunned.

Ymraan continued:— “I came to this school just for you. After seeing you, I’ve gone crazy. I feel like if I can’t have you, I won’t survive.”

The girl’s heartbeat raced, her face turning completely red. In a trembling, shy voice, she asked:— “A-are you telling the truth?”

This time, Ymraan let go of her hand, leaned back a little, and with a smirk at the corner of his lips, said in an attitude-filled tone:— “I don’t say such useless things. That’s why I’ve stayed single until now.”

The illusion shattered instantly. Hearing this, all of the girl’s hopes shattered. She sat there dumbfounded, while her friends’ faces also showed pure shock.

Her silence screamed louder than words. It seemed like Ymraan was now showing his true self.

After finishing his meal, he began to leave. Just then, the girl shyly called from behind:— “S-s-Sarqaan, are you free?”

Ymraan turned back and replied in an attitude-filled tone:— “I’m worth more than your wealth.”

The line hit harder than an outright insult. The girl hurriedly said:— “No, I mean, are you busy this Sunday? If you’re not… maybe we could go on a date?”

Ymraan replied coldly and bluntly:— “This Sunday I’ll be busy wasting my time at home playing useless video games.”

Saying that, he slowly walked away. His back carried an untouchable arrogance.

Many students in the cafeteria were still staring at him. Seeing such an attitude from Ymraan left everyone with their jaws dropped.
