19: Sweet Music

The others returned later in the evening… after the sun had gone down. Even after several months of adventuring, Kiyui still had little in the way of possessions. He just had one case of clothes, a few bottles of lotions, and his lyre. And unless he has bought new clothes recently, then the clothes that he owns are not exactly appropriate for working on a farm.

Unfortunately, Asmodeus had wasted no time in informing the guild about what had happened. I had had my adventurer’s license revoked… obviously… the other three had been suspended for defending me. I felt absolutely awful when they told me. I said they should have let him kill me… Agaroth quickly told me to “shut the fuck up” and Phoenix assured me that none of them regretted their decision. Agaroth and Phoenix left for their respective homes… well Phoenix did… I would hazard a guess that Agaroth is going to end up in a whorehouse somewhere.

We had stew that night. My mother fed me, being fed continues to be embarrassing… yet still oddly comforting. The comfort diminished every time I looked over and saw Kiyui sat across the table. It is one thing to have somebody feed you… but another to be fed in front of a friend. During the entire meal my mother kept asking Kiyui questions about what our adventures had been like… specifically about me.

This initially heightened my discomfort to no end, but, Kiyui was so nice about it… he answered every question… he saw nothing but positives in all of our companions… he spoke so highly of me. I tried to tell my mum that he was just being nice, but she told me stop being silly and accept the compliments. Kiyui just smiled sweetly and continued singing my praises.

After the meal, Kiyui and I retired to my bedroom. He started trying to help me undress. I asked him to stop. He just smiled sweetly…

Kiyui: “I understand why you’re anxious; I really do. But with your arms like that, you are going to need to accept help eventually. I’ll be here when you’re ready.”

He turned around and walked across the room, he sat on the armchair in the corner of my room and picked up his lyre. I sat on the bed and he started to play. He was captivating when he played. It was like he got lost in the music… he closed his eyes and began to hum along with the sweet sound that was coming from the lyre. He was lightly swaying and his fingers moved so delicately.

I don’t know how much time passed as he played, but it was the most calming thing that I have ever witnessed. I felt as lost in the music as he was… I felt the calmest that I have ever felt in my life, despite all the shit that had just happened… my fears… everything seemed to drift as the music continued. I began to truly look at Kiyui… after all the time we’ve spent together… I had no idea he had this talent… it is such a beautiful thing to be able to do. I wish I could play an instrument like he can… I wish I had something like that… something that I could just lose myself in.

He finished playing and walked over to me. I knew he was right about what he said before… that I would need to accept his help eventually… but I still wasn’t ready to have my body looked upon.

Dwynfel: “Would you mind if you closed your eyes, please? I’m sorry… I just… being seen makes me uncomfortable.”

Kiyui: “Of course. Whatever you need.”

He closed his eyes and undid my britches, which is a skill to be fair to him… I have difficulty undoing them sometimes… even when I’m looking at them. Once I was undressed, he helped me into bed and tucked me in. He didn’t attempt to open his eyes even once.

Dwynfel: “You can open your eyes now.”

Kiyui: “Can I get you anything before you go to sleep?”

Dwynfel: “If you don’t mind… could you play your lyre again… just until I fall asleep.”

Kiyui simply smiled at me… he has such a sweet and innocent smile. He walked back across the room to the armchair again and began to play. That was the best night of sleep that I have had in a very long time. I really mustn’t get used to this.
