[Rebirth complete]
???
With those words, I opened my eyes slowly. In front of me lay a large forest. The trees rose as far as the eye could see, the ground was made of earth that seemed to have never been trodden upon, and the air was invigorating.
Beside me, a large blue orb floated a few centimeters away, but I soon realized I still didn't possess a body. I was a formless mass of energy, wandering in the middle of nowhere.
For some reason, I didn't feel nervous or wonder how I ended up in this situation; the only thing I felt was an unusual attraction toward the orb. I approached it, and a voice sounded.
???
[Congratulations! You have received the extremely rare chance to be reborn]
[Choose a race to acquire a body]
[Upon concluding the process, some information will be sent directly to your mind]
???
A gigantic list appeared in front of my eyes. There were billions of different races, a number so vast it gave me a headache.
Let's filter this a bit...
"Only intelligent and bipedal races."
The number dropped from billions to thousands, but there were still too many races to simply accept. I continued filtering through the countless species until I reached a hundred of them, and then I began to choose.
I quickly passed by a race that caught my attention, for I recognized it from the game Vangloria.
???
Race: Oni | Rarity: Uncommon | Emblem: Demonic
???
I thought I wanted to discover more information about it, and to my surprise, another screen with details appeared.
???
[Information]
Race: Oni | Level 1
Rarity: Uncommon | Grade 1
Demonic Emblem
[Base Stats]
Strength: 9 | Speed: 6 | Vigor: 9
Dexterity: 5 | Intelligence: 6 | Mana: 1
???
Besides a stats screen, there was also a male and female 3D model with the Oni's appearance and a small description of the species.
They were tall monsters with great regeneration, but their magical capacity was low, and the population lived only in the orient.
I continued scouring through the various races, but nothing caught my attention until I found Elves: average stats, possessed a long life, good talent with wind and water magic, but apparently they were persecuted by other species.
There were the Vampires, who possessed the capacity to create familiars, were practically immortal, had extremely high magical talent, but also possessed too many weaknesses.
Dark Elves, Orcs, Demi-humans, even Superior Angels and Demons; the list was full of them. Finally, I reached the last item on the list: Humans.
They were the average among all races. They possessed a relatively short life, were average in magical talent and manual skills, and possessed no well-defined weaknesses, although they were affected by almost anything. Furthermore, they had the largest population in the place where I was.
However, I didn't find being a human interesting. I had already lived as one my entire life, and even in Vangloria, only human beings were permitted as a race.
I would like to create my own race...
???
[It is possible to create your own race, but there are substantial risks in the process]
???
I was startled, but I stood firm. This was a perfect opportunity, and despite the risks, I wouldn't give it up.
"I wish to create my own race!"
The blue orb shone brightly, consuming everything around me in light. Suddenly, I found myself inside a totally white space, and in front of me was a 3D model.
???
[Use this model to shape your body, utilizing characteristics from other races]
[Warning! Characteristics may end up fighting each other and may end up destroying the user's new body; should this occur, you will die!]
???
I took a deep breath but decided to keep moving forward. I put my hand inside the model and began the creation process.
First, I defined the base of my body: the heart. Inside Vangloria, the heart was the most important area of the body, for that was where magic was concentrated. Many monsters had Magic Stones in place of their hearts.
And among all of them, the creature with the most powerful heart, made of pure magic, were the Dragons. I fitted the heart into its proper place and continued the process.
I modeled my entire body to be slender and strong; I never liked muscles much, so the minimum was acceptable, largely because it barely mattered.
I created good proportions and defined them well. It was a quick process, but for some reason, I couldn't create my own face. I believe this will be defined based on the characteristics I add.
With the model complete, I began to add the main characteristics of my body. To achieve good magical talent, I took some Mana Cores from each base element: fire, water, earth, wind, light, and darkness. I didn't take advanced elements. It could result in an overload, and the basic ones would suffice.
Werewolves were perfect for giving my body good regeneration. A resilient defense was also necessary, so I looked to the Orcs.
Dark Elves were perfect for combat. Their ability to hide and their dexterity were surprising. I also took characteristics from their counterpart, the Elves; their natural talent and mastery over spiritual magic were incredible.
Then came the Vampires. Almost unlimited vitality, eyes capable of seeing in the dark, an almost cold and methodical intelligence. They were great.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
I also took characteristics from the dwarves, for their exquisite forging techniques and their mastery over fire. From the tritons, I took only the capacity to breathe underwater.
Finally, to define my external appearance, I needed a strong base, so I chose three races to balance: Demons, Angels, and Humans.
Power, will, balance.
As soon as I fitted the last characteristic, the 3D model began to take shape, but it also began to change.
Gold invaded one of my eyes, and the other was consumed by a crimson blood red.
The skin became white and a bit pale. A pair of red horns sprouted from the corners of my head. They were large, having a darkened brown color.
My ears grew sharp; small gills appeared just below my neck near my shoulder, but they were barely apparent.
I received a double set of teeth that was hidden but could overlap the other teeth, becoming a sharp shredding weapon.
A long tail grew at the base of my spine, possessing a black color and lacking fur, extending to a sharp tip covered in dragon scales. It was like a spear.
Finally, some scales appeared on various parts of my body, protecting fragile areas, and from my back sprouted a magnificent pair of wings.
One shone with a sanctified and glorious aura, with white feathers that glowed. The other seemed to suck in all light, emitting a black energy of profound darkness.
All the hair on my body darkened to the darkest pitch black, and finally, it was complete. That 3D model suddenly ceased to be just a model.
With every rhythmic beat of my heart, the forces trying to fight each other calmed down until a magic circle formed near my chest and the different energies flowed through it.
My skin became elastic and soft. My senses were at their maximum. My vitality was strong. Never before had I felt this way.
When I blinked, I stopped seeing the model from the outside. Now, it was me. The body was mine.
A mirror appeared in front, and I could see the beautiful young man standing there. A face as charming as the devil. Beside me was a set of black clothes.
I put them on quickly. They fit perfectly, and as if to notify that everything was alright, a message chimed.
???
[Congratulations! New race created]
[Please! Name the new race]
???
Some names passed through my head, but only one matched what I truly was.
I adopted into my body characteristics, traits, strengths, and genes from each of those races. Pure miscegenation.
A creature; a being of biblical proportions.
Biblical proportions...
"Superior Nephilim."
???
New race will be known as "Superior Nephilim" and will be one of the possible evolutions for the "Nephilim" race
???
The white space disappeared along with the mirror, and I returned to the dark forest. In it, I faced the blue orb and touched it.
Soon, a flood of information was thrown into my head.
As I suspected, this was another world with a system almost identical to Vangloria. In it existed some substantial differences that I would only discover by myself, but in essence, everything was quite similar.
My willpower, united with the fact that I died inside the system capsule, brought my consciousness to this place.
Currently, I am in a relatively safe forest in an unknown place in this world.
It seems destiny smiled upon me. I ended up receiving a second chance and, most importantly, I brought things from the other world with me; including my class.
I placed my hand on the blue orb, which was actually the Dungeon Core, and, one letter at a time, engraved my name deeply into the mana.
???
Kayn
???
My name flashed in a strong blue, disappeared inside the orb, and then I felt a strong connection link me to it.
It was done!
A screen appeared in front of my eyes:
???
[Information]
Name: Kayn
Race: Superior Nephilim | Level 1
Rarity: Unique | Grade 1
Class: Dungeon Master | Emblem Unknown
[Stats]
Strength: 10 | Speed: 10 | Vigor: 10
Dexterity: 10 | Intelligence: 15 | Mana: 30
???
This screen showed information about me and also the stats.
Strength defined my raw power, basically the amount of damage I would cause with physical attacks.
Speed increased the consistency of my attacks, acceleration capacity, and speed itself.
Vigor was my endurance and vitality.
Dexterity dealt with my senses and instincts; it helped me react faster and also improved my motor skills.
Intelligence improved my memorization, reasoning, learning capacity, besides increasing magic power.
Mana, the highest stat, was basically the amount of mana—the energy that inhabited everything—that I had access to.
However, other things caught my attention.
Some functions were missing, but I currently had four unlocked.
Information | Stats | Skills | Achievements
Achievements was completely empty, but Skills already had some entries.
[Skills]
[Active]
Tame | Domination
[Passive]
Serene Mind
[Special]
Dungeon Creation
??????
I was surprised to see the skill Dungeon Creation at maximum. Mastering a common skill took years, and that wasn't a simple common skill.
Even in my previous life, it never came close to reaching the maximum level. However, that wasn't all.
Tame and Domination were already known to me, but I had never seen the skill Serene Mind. I made a gesture to try to learn more, and a screen appeared.
???
[Skill]
Name: Serene Mind
Type: Passive
Rarity: Rare | Level 1
???
Along with that came some basic information about how the skill worked. It said it kept the user's mind stable, increasing resistance against illusions and mental attacks.
There wasn't much other information about it.
Finally, I stared at the cluster of symbols. That was a complete mystery.
"What is this?"
I tried to focus my consciousness, access additional information, but nothing happened.
"Am I too weak, or is it simply sealed?"
I sighed, a little disappointed. To be sure nothing had changed, I observed my other skills.
???
[Skill]
Name: Tame
Type: Active
Rarity: Rare | Level 1
???
[Skill]
Name: Domination
Type: Active
Rarity: Rare | Level 1
???
[Skill]
Name: Dungeon Creation
Type: Special
Rarity: Legendary | Level Max.
???
They were just as I remembered. The first two skills assisted me in the role of Dungeon Master.
As their names indicated, one served to tame foreign monsters and the other to dominate; to impose order on the dungeon monsters.
However, the main one was still Dungeon Creation. It enabled me to do whatever I pleased with the help of the core and in exchange for points.
I could modify floors, create monsters, change even the physics and logic within my domain. As long as I had points and enough power, I could be a God.
For some reason, even at the maximum level, some functions were still blocked.
Is it because I haven't created the dungeon yet?
In my previous life, Dungeon Creation reached only level 6. Another notable change was the degree of Rarity and Power.
Skills, Magic, Classes, Achievements, and Information; everything was classified on a basis ranging from power to rarity. Of course, monsters were more complex, so they were classified similarly, but not exactly the same.
This classification was divided into some ranks.
Common | Uncommon | Rare
Special | Heroic | Epic
Legendary | Historical | Ancestral
| Mythological |
? Unique ?
The highest was clearly Unique. For something to have such a classification, it didn't just need to be the only one in existence, but it needed to be seen by the system as something unreplicable.
A thing so wonderful, brilliant, and resplendent, and of a power so unequal, that only Gods could dare to handle, own, or create it.
That is why everything in this degree of Rarity receives the name of a God...
It was like this in Vangloria. There was a single Unique item known to few players. Not even I, the most powerful, dared to touch it.
"The Scepter of Anubis..."
Its information was unknown to the general public, and to the most powerful, only a few words were given.
Of course, it was all game propaganda and maybe it wasn't even a true usable item. It was more like game lore.
Dead players respawned after some restriction time. Everyone appeared in some of the dozens of churches throughout the region.
Most thought it was due to the game itself, but they were mistaken.
"The Scepter of Anubis revives the fallen."
An item of such power that it could bring the dead back to life. It was something even I didn't dare possess—at least not with the strength I had back then.
Facing Gods wasn't my thing.
Now my race was also classified as Unique. I knew that by mixing so many races, I would get something special, but I never imagined power like this.
However, not everything was positive. The classification of my Dungeon Creation skill fell twice in Rarity. It fell from Ancestral to Legendary.
A purposeful sigh leaked from my lips.
I had very little information, and there were many mysteries. I would probably be in a panic; actually, I don't know why I'm not.
There was only one option: the Serene Mind skill. Maybe it was because of it that I was so calm, but I liked to think it was due to my own merit.
Yeah... I really reincarnated in another world.
Before anything else, I needed to understand my state a bit; ensuring my survival was priority. Afterward, I would think of a way to learn more about this world and discover its dangers.
Finally... an illogical desire, perhaps a crazy thought... but dominating a real world might be more fun than a virtual one.
"Hahaha!" I laughed at myself. "Just madness."
Or maybe it wasn't.
I was in this unknown place, with a system similar to Vangloria, in a world of swords and magic, but nothing seemed to shake me.
I could stay lost in thought for hours, but standing still in this place, ruminating on my unfortunate condition, would get me nowhere.
I looked at the blue orb floating in front of me.
"It's time to create my Dungeon!"
