C30 Finding a New Place

The others were still blinded by the flash created from Mitra’s shout and after smacking the back of her head, Vegis recloaked her. After the light was blocked, Vegis noticed that the others were knocked out so he put them back into their seats and tried to contact Drake. It took many attempts before it went through. “Hello Mr. Drake, ahhh. An accident has happened. Mitra got a little rowdy and may have revealed her true form to more employees.” Vegis said to the tired figure of Drake that appeared on the screen. Drake did a facepalm and a long sigh before he started to speak. “Why didn’t you ask for a private transport vehicle? I’m half sure Doel set it up so she has level 10 access. That’s what he typically does for sapient aberrations like here.” Vegis did a nervous shrug and replied with, “I did not think of it. Me and her spent most of the time just out in the forest as I taught her human behaviors. It didn't come to mind to check what her ID’s capabilities were.”

Drake just did a very tired sigh before offering a solution for this predicament. “Under one of the consoles, you should be able to find a set of needles and several vials. 1 half are sedatives and the other half is made up of various memory altering meds. Grab the 2 that are a bright blue since they go together. Put them into medikit and it should be able to give you the proper doses for your co-workers. Chop chop, you don’t want to give them a stronger version, trust me.” Vegis hurriedly did this and injected them within the minute. Mitra wanted to help but was scared of getting too close to the needles. They seized a bit after the injections but the medkit told him that nothing was going wrong. Vegis just sat down at one of the chairs to try to relax as the vehicle continued to the destination.

Eventually, Vegis fell asleep again since he had gotten used to not being able to check the LSN

This confused the rest of them until they checked the time. “How the fuck did we slept for that long”(Jonsa) “I know right. I felt a little tired, but I didn’t think I would sleep that long

The doors opened up and Vegis could see 3 other vehicles like theirs were opening up to their occupants. Vegis just waved at them and led Mitra to the elevator down. On the short trip down, Vegis got caught up on what happened while he was gone. First, it seemed like that pillar thing was related to a huge scale spell that was made by an up and coming cult that was spreading pretty fast these days. Secondly, it seems that the pillars have happened multiple times and seemed to have destroyed his apartment complex. Third, a new killer seems to have taken root here with all the chaos that has happened. Finally, the pod trains now have the metro which allows them to go to the other underground cities. This was stopped originally due to a complication with zoning laws and mineral rights. This has now been resolved which now connects all the cities together, and will help form new ones. When the elevator finally hit the floor, Vegis was exasperated at all this news.

He dragged Mitra behind him as he got a message from his job telling him that he would reside in one testing facility that all held rooms that would allow overnight testing. Vegis headed there and it was the same as the one he went to originally for the job. He entered and arrows appeared in his third eye. Vegis mumbled to himself “So that's where the cybernetics went,” while following the arrows. Mitra couldn’t see them with her eyes, but through their connection, she had a rough idea of where to go. It took them through various floors, rooms and ended up with them behind the building and in front of a row of small shacks. There were names on panels next to the doors. Vegis saw that Tulip and Greg lived next to each other on the right side of the row and the arrows pointed for them to go to the left side.

Walking over, the panel lit up and both their names appeared on it. Vegis walked in and dropped his stuff inside. Mitra didn’t have anything since she has been imprisoned for the most of her sentient life and was still acclimating to being a humanoid. The clothes she wears are just transformed pieces of her armor and the labs didn’t have shops for the most part. Vegis walked around the building and walked around to start buying things for the both of them. The first thing was new clothes for both of them. Vegis needed new clothes for his increased size and while the armor pieces could act as clothes for now, whenever Mitra lose focus for too long, they started to revert.

The next thing Vegis was shopping for was a new place to stay, preferably on the surface. Vegis liked the sun a lot now and the surface land here was relatively isolated so if an accident were to happen, it wouldn’t harm randoms. It took several days before Vegis found an ad for a small property on the surface. It had a decent amount of land around it. It seemed to be built to replicate pre-space expansion home architecture but it still had all the modern accommodations. It was a 4 story home, 2 surface, 2 basement levels with a small garden and garage. Vegis bought it as soon as he saw it since it was cheap and had lots of space. It took 3 days for Vegis to get all the land rights and deed to the house transferred into his name. It took an hour to get to the house and they were near another city. It was empty, but it wouldn’t take long for Vegis to fill it with all the basic furniture and finally, relax as much as he wanted.
