He leaned over the small storiform cup as he bit into the noodles and read at the same time. He was reading what could only be called trash. The story was bad, its grammar was something he would expect from a high schooler's creative writing class, it was edgy and had so many plot holes that it was like Swiss cheese.
So why did he keep reading it? It was fun, the author clearly was new when they started writing it, but they still gave it their all and every chapter it was clear the author was getting better at some point. He clearly started to use a good grammar checker and even started to even try to fix the plot holes, but in the end it was too late. The story ended with a simple "I'm dropping this story. I plan to rewrite it from the start. I will start posting soon, thank you to all my readers."
He quickly clicked on the author's page only to find it empty. He leaned back, looking up at the ceiling of his small apartment. Well guess its time to get some rest. But his eyes drifted back to the screen, Ya right one more story, He quickly began to look for another story that suited his trash taste. It did not take him long to find one.
By the time he realized what had happened, it was too late as the sound of birds chirping and cars driving began to come in through the windows. Morning already? he forced himself up and walked over to the bath room, his steps unsteady as he walked.
He had hoped the feeling of cold water on his face would help wake him up, but it did little more than make his face cold. Maybe a cold shower would help? he thought as he moved heading for the shower only for his foot to slip out from under him. He screamed as he waited for the pain of hitting the tiled floor to come.
The world shifted around them, and their senses were attacked as the world around them shifted.
The sound of rain slapping on the wooden roof above, the smell of wet trash and rotting fish , The give of mud below their hands, the view of a body that looked so pale it seemed sickly and the taste of a worm tea and a freezing day they could not help but swallow it reaching up they touched there lip and polled back there hand only to see a small crimson red stain on the middle finger form where they had just touched there lips.
"Blood?" The voice was clearly high-pitched, but it was forced into a lower one by the way they spoke. They moved slowly but with certainty and looked into a large puddle before them. Reflected in the murky, puddle of rainwater was a woman with bright red eyes that seemed to glow with the color of blood. Her hair fell around her face in brown waves.
Slowly, she reached up and opened her mouth and pulled the side of her cheek back. Her mouth was dyed red with what she could only assume was blood.
She heard the sound of rapped foot steps, causing her to snap her head to face them. The young boy was covered in ragged clothes. His green eyes were wide.
For a moment, they both froze. Then the boy let out a screech that could have pierced the heavens.
"Vampire!" The boy could not stay upright and stumbled backwards.
She began to run down another alley, everything in her screaming that she could not let herself be caught.
With every step, the wet slapping of her shoes and the puddles below rang out. His eyes looked on to an open window that was two stories up. There was no way a human could make that jump, yet something in her told her she could.
Using every bit of power she could muster, she jumped. She flew through the air as if she were an Olympic athlete. Even as the rain pelted down on her she could not help but form a smile as she landed in the small room. Quickly, not wasting a moment, she closed the windows and dropped to the floor, peaking out the window.
She saw nothing, not a soul seemed to come down the alley she had come from. So she let herself slide down the wall as she curled up in a ball.
What the hell is going on? No, wait I know what's happening, just how could I believe it? She looked around the room that she was sure was dark yet she could see as if it was daylight. It was a near-empty room with only a small bed and a simple desk, the spitting image of what you would expect an inn from some jrpg to look like.
She looked back at her heads they were much smaller than they had been in years combined, and the way the rain felt dripping from her outfit made it clear this was real. Or a dream so real it was indistinguishable.
Ok so this is real I transmigrated into another world that opens up a lot of questions but given I'm clearly a vampire I need to learn the rules on that first and foremost. Or at least find a place to stay. She thought as she began to search her simple uniform after a moment she found a small pocket and pulled out a simple black wallet.
She opened the wallet and found an ID card. At the top it read 'Public college of Hunter academy' . Below she found her name, or well her new name. "Zoe Rose, 1st year." She read to herself. Next to it was a photo of her. The only difference from the face she had seen in the water was the soft green eyes. She read on then froze as cold sweat broke out. "Born 2083, age 20." She reread it once more and then again.
"What?" her mind began to race, looking for any hint of what kind of world she had found herself in. Despite it being set in a sci-fi time the buildings look almost medieval plus the phrase hunter academy.
Zoe began to run through every story she could remember, but with how many she had read, it was impossible for her to think of which one, if any this world could be. However, she did have enough to come up with a good idea for the setting. I bet this is one of those fantasy worlds where gates opened and monsters started to come out of them! Zoe thought with a grin as she held out her hand. And if that is the case there is good odds that this will work, Zoe took a deep breath then whispered "Stats."

She held her breath.
But nothing came.
She let out the long breath and rubbed the back of her head, Well I guess that would be too simple. For now, let's just try and find out more about how this vampire thing works. She forced herself onto her feet and looked out the window. The sound of rain pelting the simple glass window could be heard as she looked outside it once more seeing no one she pulled over her cloak’s hood and pushed the window open, then jumped.
She landed in a puddle with a loud splash and caught a glance of her eyes in a window. They had changed color back to a simple green, far from the deep red they had been last she seen them. Well that is one thing I don't have to worry about.
She began to walk through the back alleys quickly heading for where she heard the most sound. She stepped out of the alley feeling the rain fall on her as her face was illuminated by the warm glow of street lanterns. The smell of herbs and meat filled the air as the voices of bartering did.
As he stepped out onto the crowded street and looked around, she saw a group of students eating at what looked like an eastern ramen cart she had only seen in travel vloggers videos before.
"Excuse me," Zoe said, standing behind a large guy. The man turned back, looking over his shoulder. "What can't you see I'm eating?" The man asked coldly.
"I'm a bit lost and was wondering how do I get to the academy from here?" Zoe asked her hand, reaching up behind her head.
The man looked stunned for a moment then let out a long sigh, "First years," He pointed ", It's a ways that way, past the large temple, then take a right and keep going you can't miss it." He turned back and began to slurp down a massive bowl of soup on the spot.
Zoe quickly turned away and walked through the crowded street, rain pelting down from above as she walked. Her mind could not help but wonder. What had the old owner of this body been doing in that alley? Thinking back she could not remember seeing a body for where the blood that had been in her mouth could have come from.
Better question: what happened to the real Zoe given I'm here? Did we swap places, Is she dead? She kept coming up with questions and had none of the answers or even clues.
Well all I can do now is hope I don't burn in the sun. It was more than a hope after all given how vampires are treated in most stories if it was revealed that she was one it was game over.
She came to a stop before a massive gate with a small security guard booth. This must be the place. she stepped forward up to the booth. Inside, she saw a man wearing a simple blue and black uniform with his legs kicked up on the desk. He did not react until Zoe spoke, "Hello, can you please let me in?" She asked as water dripped from her cloak.
The man looked up from what looked to be his phone, "ID please." His voice was flat.
She reached into her pocket and pulled it out, showing the guard. After a moment, he pressed a button, and the gate swung open. "Don't stay out so late in the rain, you could get sick." The man said as he returned to looking at his phone.
Zoe quickly scurried past.
The front plaza of the academy was massive. It was covered in flowers and grass with a number of stone pathways that led in every direction. But straight ahead was the largest building that looked to be at least five floors tall and looked like it could fit two or three malls in it.
As Zoe looked around trying to find the path to the dorm, she saw a large map much like the kind she had seen in national parks. She walked over to it and reached her hand out, pressing it on the wet plastic and whipping it back and forth until she could read what was under it.
Lets see dorms, dorms. Male dorms ok got it. She turned to the left and took a few steps then stopped. Oh wait, guess not. She realized as she looked down to watch for puddles. She quickly turned back and looked it over one more time, finding her dorm would be on the other side of campus from the boys dorm.
She quickly began walking once more, doing her best to avoid getting any wetter from the rain or puddles. The dorms were as large as one would expect for a school of this size but Zoe did not take time to gook at them.
She quickly pushed the doors to the dorm open wide and stepped inside, feeling the cold water drip down her leg as the storm picked up. Looking around, she found the lobby empty as it could have been, but chained to the desk was a large red binder labeled new dorm assignments. She ran her shoes over the welcome mat.
She pulled the hood of her cloak down as she picked up the binder and flipped through it until she saw her 'name', finding she was in room 543, she put the binder back.
Heading down the hall coming to a stop before an elevator, she pressed the button, and it let out a soft chime. As she waited for the elevator to arrive, she unclasped the cloak, wrapped it up, and put it under her arm.
The warm air coming from a nearby vent felt heavy. After a moment, she heard the ding of the elevator and headed up.
From there it had not taken long for her to find her and with a simple tap of her ID on the lock, the green light flashed as he opened the door and stepped into the small room.
The room was small but bigger than she had expected from a dorm room. The room has one bed, a desk by the window, and a small wardrobe.
She walked over to the wardrobe and opened it. There were a number of uniforms but looking past those she grabbed a simple sweatshirt with a pair of sweat pants and quickly changed, doing her best not to look down.
Now that I'm not soaked to the bone, let's see what I can learn about the old Zoe. She began to look around the room. It was clean as if the room had been almost unused. On the desk were a number of school supplies and a small bag of makeup that looked just as unused as the room.
Then she saw a charging brick for a phone plugged into the wall. Her eyes followed it seeing it lead under a pillow on the bed. She reached under and felt around and pulled out a phone.
The case was a simple black case with some kind of mascot wolf dog thing's face on the back. She flipped it over and tried to power it on. Come on please, no password. She thought as she watched it slowly load up.
Locked of course who would not lock their phone. She saw the finger print simple pop up and was filled with new hope and tapped her thumb. Nothing next was her index finger. The phone made a soft chime as it unlocked.
She quickly looked through the phone finding messages from Zoe's father, "Good job kid! Now that you managed to get in. You'd best work hard and make me proud!"
She had reapplied "I will do my best!"
But as she looked through the phone, that seemed like the only family or even friend Zoe had messaged. The good news was that she managed to find Zoe's class schedule and that the school year starts for real tomorrow.
She collapsed onto the bed and looked up at the ceiling of the small room as she opened the internet search app. Thank goodness for the internet. She was just happy that out of all the worlds she could end up in, it was one with the internet.
She quickly looked about 'Vampires wiki' the first result was just what she had wanted: a long wiki page about vampires. Skimming it she got the gist.
So Firstly Vampires have to drink blood once a week at least or they will go berserk, Secondly they grew weeker in the sun and are week to fire, There eyes only become red when they use their powers and the last rule I need to watch out for vampires of a higher rank and sense vampires of lower ranks. Zoe plugged her phone in then rolled over in the bed.
It seems that vampires are seen more as monsters that are to be killed then humans. Zoe thought as she remembered the last words of the article he mind drifting off to sleep.
