Chapter 5: Non-Chapter: Zootopias Plot.

So … we are approaching the point in my history where we will start going through the movie’s motions with new background info while keeping the movie itself as unchanged as possible …

The purpose of this story currently is to give background information and new view points to the Movie, because we watch Zootopia throughout Judy's eyes and she just doesn't see a lot …

Now with that in mind, i’m making sure to write this story seeing Zootopia as an actual city with actual people and an actual modern world surrounding it … all that good stuff …

I’m not making anything up pertaining to what we SEE in the movie … but that also leaves quite a lot of problems when you take what the Movie shows to us at face value …

  ***

Let's just get into it …

Judy Hopps goes to Zootopia and starts as a cadet in the ZPD police academy. We are shown that the Academy is visibly NOT adapted to Small or Little mammals (With Little Rodentia itself being a district inside Zootopia, this is already a BIG red flag).

  ***

What can be “fixed”: Judy entered ZPD Academy for the ZPD central district of Zootopia, that is dominated by Medium/Large Mammals, the academy training is designed for that, Judy just stubbornly tried to get in there to prove she can now that the Small Mammals Initiative made the sensible restriction of sizes “discriminatory”.

Why ? … There is no possible way for Judy to be the first “small cop” in Zootopia ever, maybe the first bunny cop, but other small mammals would have been cops in Zootopia, there is just no way for them not to exist with Little Rodentia being a thing … So Judy is the first Zootopia Bunny cop (plausible) and the First ZPD Central small cop (due to the new laws doing away with size restrictions) …

  ***

Back to the movie. Judy just graduated as a cop from the academy and is now the first ZPD bunny officer in ZPD central thanks to the Small Mammals Initiative, she even got valedictorian in a course not designed for small mammals, a feat that shows that she is just built different.

Judy starts her career as a cop and everyone in her department underestimates her, nothing in the department is suited for her and she is relegated to “humiliating” parking duty.

  ***

Now, this is what Judy sees, she is used to being underestimated and just straight up taking the challenge like it offends her.

What we can infer that happened, even seeing things from the movie itself … Judy is the first small cop they ever had, the department didn't expect a small cop, no one knows what to do with her … the Small Mammals Initiative is a new thing, a political move that no one expected would get anywhere because SIZE RESTRICTIONS ARE SENSIBLE … we saw what happened when Judy walked inside Little Rodentia, she was basically a Kaiju doing destruction …

So the Small Mammals Initiative is a new policy, very new, the ZPD central police department NEVER expected a small mammal to go there, they have other departments for them, no sane small mammal would take on a course designed for bigger mammals and they would certainly not PASS …

Judy the Freak happened and they have no gear for her, they don't have a desk for her, they don't have a vehicle, they have no idea what to do with her and there is a very big risk she just gets SQUASHED if she tries to confront a bigger criminal with no backup …

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Seeing things from Bogo’s POV … He is dealing with all of that and also a new case of missing mammals, the bunny doesn't really get ‘orders’ and they simply don't know what to do with her … the decision is clear … they just let her stew in the safe parking duty while trying to figure out how to make her transfer to another department. Judy being there is just nonsense, certainly a political move from the recently elected Mayor trying to show how his new stupid law already worked.

  Now back into the Movie.

  ***

Judy is relegated to parking duty, clearly they are trying to make her give up, they still underestimate her, there is even this big missing mammals case brewing and they don't even assign her to it …

It doesn't matter that she doesn't have an assigned vehicle, nor a partner, or that it is still so soon into her career as a cop that she isn't even on the systems yet (that means she had been there for a week at best, and she is already freaking out) … she refuses to be underestimated, she will show them what she can do … she will catch her frist criminal, orders or not …

So she goes and recklessly pursues a criminal inside Little Rodentia, causing a LOT of damage to public property and risking countless lives to … arrest a simple thief …

Bogo gets livid with the reclessness and lack of forward thought and instead of actually thinking about what she did and what she put at risk going KAIJU on an entire district pursuing simple thief, Judy starts backtalking and arguing …

That's literally what we see in the movie … now, the next scene is Ms. Otterson invading the office trying to get news of her husband …

Bogo is telling her that they are doing what they can, her husband is one of many other mammals … but before he can even explain that … Judy … in the middle of her reasonable scolding … buts her head in and says “I'LL DO IT” … To a visibly upset wife … giving Ms Otterson hope in a very non-professional way … and once more going over her orders … in the middle of a scolding by her boss …

I don't know about you, but the disrespect and insubordination alone would see her fired immediately … and she basically was …

But as luck would have it, before Judy can be justifiebly fired, politics get involved with Bellweather and Bogo now has to ‘give Judy a chance’ … because politics …

So sure … if the super bunny thinks she can solve a case by herself, with no partner, no gear, while not even being on the system yet, all the while disobeying orders and being a nuisance … How about 48 hours and if she doesn't solve the case, she resigns … that way Bogo get rid of the bunny and doesn't have to deal with the political fallout of JUSTIFIEBLY firing her …

  ***

Great, we started on the movie, missing mammals, Judy is online as basically a desperate rogue cop, Nick gets involved … Sweet buddy cop adventure …

Nothing to complain about up til this point, everything happens with little to no changes even seeing Zootopia as a real city …

Now we start with the honestly ungodly mess that is the second part of the movie …

  ***

Savage Predators direction … and why it makes no fucking sense …

Let's establish a few things that are outright ignored in the movie …

Zootopia is a modern big city, basically New York / Tokio levels big … that means a LOT of people there … and with that many people there is crime, drugs, violent people, crasy ones, there are probably Mammals suffering from bad drug trips and paicological breakdowns all the time … because thats NORMAL in a big city …

14 individuals going crasy isn't “City wide protest worthy”, come on, in a place as big as Zootopia that would MAYBE be the front page of the week right there with the Mayor that kidnaped them, the subsequent Predator / Prey protest makes no sense … especially since at NO POINT IN THE MOVIE we see visible discrimination of predators, the fucking mayor is a lion, come on …

But that's the least problematic part, people can be stupid and media can be manipulated, that's nothing new … the problem starts at the CAUSE of it …

Night Howlers, as Judy herself says, are a KNOWN plant “Class C” or whatever that means, it sound well regulated … not only that, the plant isn't even ‘obscure’ shit … it's WIDELY used as a pest repelent … and not only that, it's “Savagery indulcing effects” are KNOWN … Judy's parents Tell their children to be careful with it, right after they tell Judy that just eating the thing is enough to make a mammals Savage …

This would NEVER EVER be a secret … that shit would have been studied LONG AGO, it's comopounds known about and antidotes promptly made … because farmers are using it as pest control and the plan is toxic as is …

And even in the movie, the plant ISN'T a secret … so How the fuck does the discouse about Predators regressing ever tracks when the answer is plain obvious ?

And not only that … we see further in the movie that the way the concentrated drug is administered is by a literal bright blue paintball …

Look, I'm trying my best here, but you're telling me that a mammal goes Savage, you contain said mammal and try to find what happened … and you don't see the OBVIOUS blue splosh in their fur ? …

Even disregarding the fact that Night Howler toxin would be WELL KNOWN … it doesn't take a genius to see a blue paint splosh on all victims of the suden Savagery and think that MAYBE is a drug … or you know, just do some fucking bloodwork on the Mammals …

Honestly the second half of the movie from a Plot perspective is SO BAD that I can't even save most of it …

Even making Lionheart a very dumb politician to have the bright idea of kidnaping Mammals instead of putting them on hospitals and changing the narrative in his favor … Bellweather whole plot just doesn't work.

Her plan isn't even a plan, she is Just darting people at random in the hopes of … making fear ? And that somehow translating into her taking control ? … If Lionheart did nothing, her whole plan would go bely up … She is depending entirely on Lionheart making the worst possible choices and no one seeing her obvious use of a plant that's WIDELY know …

So … I don't know what I'll do with that part of the movie, honestly … I'll have to make a bunch of changes to preserve some semblance of logic and make Bellweather more of a facist taking power than an oportunistic politician … that would make for a more interesting story anyway …

So … Yeah, Zootopia Plot …
