The next morning Skyler was in the training room with Justin, she was doing training on how to be formal towards people; she hated being formal but she knew that if she wanted to be officially a protector she would need this training. So she was pleased that Justin was willing to teach her. Since she didn’t have a clue on how to be formal, to nobles or high ranking people because to her they were all rotten and bad people.
She continued to study on how to move the right way, how to curtsy, talk properly to people formally and such. It was hard for skyler to change her style of speech in a limited amount of time, she saw justin nervous expression that made her to make more mistakes in the training.
“Good day mister moonlight”
Skyler said with a different tone in her voice, more calm and pronounced instead of her mumbling pattern of speech.
“Good day miss amberlight, how was your day?”
“It was splendid although it has been tough for me practice for something important”
She said to Justin's question while she curtsied at him. She smiled beautifully at him like she was a princess. Which was a big difference since she wasn’t a good smiler.
“I see, can I know what that is?”
Justin asked and he waited for Skyler to come back up from her curtsy and she came closer and lowered her voice to a whisper.
“To practice for a meeting”
“Well i hope for the best for your meeting”
Justin said and skyler laughed at the ridiculousness of this, reciting prompts on different conversation openings for nobles. It was like revising for an exam, which needed to be at one hundred percent first time when handed in.
It carried like this for a few hours to help her to get it through into her mind. She was exhausted from the conversation training. She looked at Justin and he nodded that he knew that Skyler was getting exhausted.
“I believe your ready to meet the king”
“Really?”
Skyler asked, hoping that Justin wasn’t just saying that to make her stop from practicing, she breathed shakily waiting for his response.
“Yes i do”
She heard Justin say that, then she jumped in joy and she unhooked her badge from her trousers and lifted in the air letting the artificial light bounce off the badge making it shine. She saw it as a sign that things to come will be better.
“Let’s fucking go!”
She screamed out and then regretted it immediately after. She scratched her head in embarrassment. Her feelings were all over the place like she was afraid but at same time excited then petrified.
She took a breath and calmed herself down from the adrenaline rush she just had and looked at the castle in the distance. In the centre of the Lux sector. She was ready for the next stage.
She waved at Justin and left the training room and walked down the hallway toward the spire. She brought her watch towards her face and called Luna. It buzzed and buzzed, which made Skyler a bit worried since she knew that if Luna would be discovered she would be thrown away in prison or worse killed by her own father.
“Come on pick up please”
Skyler whispered and Luna, a holographic image of her appeared before her. She smiled and Skyler smiled back.
“Hey Luna”
“Hey”
“Where are ya?”
“Somewhere near, and somewhere far”
“Wow, so cryptic”
Skyler said, annoyed by Luna’s words. She wanted more than that from her. She knew that wasn’t possible, She sighed.

“Can I know that, you’re safe then?”
“Yes, I am safe. Skyler, don’t worry.”
Skyler smiled, and looked at the upcoming spire.
“That’s good, Luna.” She said while she scratched the back of her head. “I’m going to meet your father soon.”
“I see,”
Luna said dismissively, and nodded. The conversation went cold. Neither Skyler or Luna had no idea how to carry on.
“I will see you soon?”
Skyler said, hoping that Luna would see her again soon. She reached the door to the spire and opened it.
“Yes you will”
Luna said, before her hologram cut out suddenly. Leaving Skyler in a silence, only the sounds of her shoes tapping on the stone. Of the staircase.
***
The next day Skyler was walking to her bike in a black dress that was lended to her. She tied her hair back in a pony tail.
“Great, how am I supposed to ride my bike?” She looked down; “In this.” She said, bluntly to herself.
Justin walked up to her, she waved at him and went to him. The heels click on the pebbles of the gravel.
“Skyler, you know that a limousine is taking you right?”
“What!”
Skyler shouted, surprised that she would be in such a car like that. She couldn’t wrap her head around it.
“What?”
She repeated, and she saw him nod which cemented his words in her mind. She got in the limo and relaxed. The soft leather was heavenly, she never felt so rich in her life.
The ride was so smooth that she didn’t even realise that she was nearing her destination. Until she saw the giant crystal that was making a castle hover and colours of a rainbow sprouted across the horizon.
“That is massive.”
She whispered, pressing her head against the glass to get a better view of it. Then the door opened and she fell on her face on the ground. She grunted and pushed herself up from the ground while glaring at the driver.
Before shaking her head and walking through the crowds of photographers, which made her feel self conscious and covered her face with hands and dashed. And landed on a platform that slowly upwards to the castle.
Her heartbeat fastened as it got closer and closer, like it was a giant and she was just a bug. It stopped at the front door of the castle which blasted wind at her that made her step back although the platform stopped her from falling to her death.
“What is this wind!”
She exclaimed, and trudged through it. Her hair untangled from the neatly pony tail she did. She pouted from it.
“For fuck sake”
She thought and the hallway that greeted her was one of steam and machinery, she shivered from the hiss and grinding of the gears. She got closer and closer to the throne room; there was a pressure that commanded her to stop.
“What’s going on?”
She said, While she stood waiting for the doors to open then, a weapon cache sprouted out from the ground with a speaker attached to it. She raised an eyebrow to this.
“New protector, defeat this then i will give you permission to be a protector.”
A commanding voice bellowed from the speaker, she grabbed a saber and gripped it tightly, then the platform opened underneath her, she screamed loudly. But landed on her feet.
She looked up to see a fragment that was about the same size as her. She raised an eyebrow before getting kicked by it in a flash. She flew back a few meters and grimaced from the pain.
“So, showtime I guess?”
Her eyes glowed purple then used a shadow to throw a protractile at the fragment, which it dodged and impacted the wall behind it. She ran towards it slicing upwards and the fragment met the slice and parried it. She widened her eyes, before using a different shadow.
Her hair tips glowed a bit as well before she covered the floor with it. She grinned and tendrils appeared and ran up its legs. The fragment just cut its legs off and floated backwards and regenerated its legs.
“Okay unfair”
She shouted and ran towards him again and used the shadow behind it to change it into a spike. And dashed at him again, the fragment grasped the spike and threw it at her. She blocked with the saber which was starting to break from the weight of the attack.
Then it glowed brightly, washing away the shadows around her, making her blink and her eyes reverted to blue.
“Damm it.”
She grumbled but slid underneath the fragment slicing its tendons, which made it scream in pain then she used a shadow from her crossguard of the saber to cover her hand in shadow.
Before punching it, the impact made her fingers crack, she held in her scream and flipped kicked it into the air and covered the blade in shadow before putting the saber above her head and let the fragment land on it slicing through its innards that spilled around her and the ether around her.
She stumbled back from the weight as it dissipated like sand and then a door opened. She walked through it to see that she was in the throne room, and she looked at the man dressed in robes and was very old. She knelt and held out the saber and he took it and placed it on the side.
“Your majesty, how majestic you look today.”
She said calmly, and he nodded with a slimly grin. She shivered from the sight but tried to get her feeling together, she looked around to see many suits of armour which confused her. But she couldn’t care less about the details, the only thing that she is focused on is the protectors grant.
“Bring forth your badge”
He said calmly, and she obliged and handed him the badge, and she saw him dunk it into some type of liquid near him.
“Whats that?”
She asked, curious but she saw him look at her rigidly and she looked downward to the ground trying not to upset him in any way. Then she felt her badge on her palm and she looked at it. She smiled as it didn’t need the sun to reflect its light to make it shine anymore.
“You are now blessed, by the primordial Aqua.” he stood up and raised his arms out like he was hugging the air. “Protector amberlight!”
He declared which made her frown, knowing that he was just lying to her since the aqua primordial wasn’t in that fountain.
“Thank you my king”
She replied to him and stood up and left the throne room down the hallway which was different from the one she entered. The sun glowed through the windows like it was congratulating her. She raised her badge in the air and it grew brighter and brighter and it made her squint.
“I'm a protector now, lets get that murderer.”
She shouted down at the country below. Which seemed small to her from up here. She chuckled, and sat down on an edge and dangled her legs on it. The wind was so peaceful like it wasn’t as fast down there. She felt that she could spend ages up here. She groaned and stood up.
She walked to a platform and it started to descend downwards to the ground, she waved at the crystal that was underneath it, and when it hit the ground she went towards the limo that was still there waiting.
“Take me to the protector headquarters”
The limo started and glided through the way back to the protector's headquarters. The sudden relief of being back since it was so uncomfortable for her in that place was immense. Now she can just rest in her bed until she gets a call for a mission or a rescue.
She looked up at her ceiling in her room and punched in the air in excitement about the aspects of the future for her. But she still wondered about those spheres that person stole from her classmates, the only thing she knew was that it was a man called Lucas.
“What are you up to”
She turned and whispered into her pillow, she observed the midnight sky through her window and her eyes got heavy. She was exhausted from the conversation with the king and she fell asleep.
