1.10 A little bit about the world

  ### **Diary of Despair**

**Northern Cabin.** Thick snow falls outside. Inside—scattered books, magical artifacts, swords and staffs mounted on the walls, empty wine bottles, a smoldering fireplace. Hiro sits at the table, his violet eyes tiredly scanning the diary. The pencil scratches against the paper.

  ---

  **"I am 11 years old.**

  Dear Diary,

  I’ve tried everything.

  Magic stones—crumbled in my hands.

  Ancient books—lied or stayed silent.

  Spells, rituals, amulets—nothing works.

For a year, I’ve searched for a way to suppress these curses. **A year.**

The only thing that helps—wine from Piron’s guild. I don’t get drunk. But for a moment… it eases the weight.

Once a year, I visit the ruins of *her* home. Now just a foundation, overgrown with grass. A forest has swallowed the place, hiding it from prying eyes. I leave a violet rose and walk away.

Today, I found an amulet said to block curses. I held it—and it **shattered**, exploding into shards.

  That was the last straw.

I can feel my sanity cracking…"

The pencil stops. Hiro closes his eyes, pressing his fingers to his temples.

  ---

  ### **The Breaking Point**

**Hiro:** *"How much longer do you plan to suffer?"*

  A voice. Clear. Cold. Familiar.

  Hiro doesn’t open his eyes.

  **Hiro:** *"You again…"*

**Void God:** *"Again."* The voice echoes from the depths of his mind. *"You’re looking in the wrong places. Asking the wrong questions."*

Hiro stands abruptly, knocking over the chair.

**Hiro:** *"Then where?! Where do I look?! You see what’s happening to me! I can’t even touch people! I can’t stop the teleportations! I—"*

  The voice cuts him off.

**Void God:** *"I propose a deal."*

  Silence.

  **Hiro:** *"What kind?"*

**Void God:** *"You control the body. I am just a fragment of your consciousness. But I know things you don’t."*

  **Hiro:** *"And?"*

  **Void God:** *"Let me… manifest."*

  **Hiro:** *"What?"*

**Void God:** *"Allow me to exist beside you. Not in your mind—as a ghost only you can see. In return, I’ll help you."*

  Hiro hesitates.

**Hiro:** *"You… want to step outside?"*

**Void God:** *"No. I’ll remain a shadow. But you won’t be alone."*

  Hiro clenches his fists.

  **Hiro:** *"Fine."*

  ---

  ### **The White Void**

He closes his eyes—and suddenly, he’s *there*.

Endless whiteness. A mist that never lifts. No ground beneath his feet, yet he doesn’t fall. He’s been here before—when he was seven, standing in the snow-covered plains beside the crater of his own making.

  Stolen story; please report.

Now, a *boy* stands before him.

Seven years old. Black hair. Black eyes. A tattered shirt, shorts. Shackles on his wrists, chains broken, dangling. It’s *Hiro*—but as a child. The real **Void God**.

  The boy extends a hand.

**Void God:** *"Do we have a deal?"*

  Hiro slowly shakes it.

  ---

  ### **A New Ally**

When Hiro opens his eyes, he’s back in the cabin.

  But he’s not alone anymore.

A translucent figure stands before him—the **Void God**, that same boy.

  He smirks.

  **Void God:** *"Thanks."*

  Hiro says nothing.

  ---

  ### **The Truth About Curses**

Hiro sat at the table, his violet eyes locked onto the translucent figure across from him. The **Void God**—his shadow self—lounged in the chair like he owned the place.

**Void God:** *"Well? Shall we begin?"*

  Hiro nodded.

The Void God leaned back, crossing his arms.

**Void God:** *"You wanted to know where your curses come from and how to control them. Let’s start at the beginning."*

He raised a hand, and two symbols materialized in the air:

  ?? **Mana** — a glowing blue orb.

? **Chaos** — a black vortex coiling around it.

**Void God:** *"There’s positive energy—mana, and negative—chaos. They’re linked. Mana spawns chaos at a 5% rate. Small? Yeah. But everyone with mana has chaos."*

  Hiro frowned.

  **Hiro:** *"Almost everyone?"*

**Void God:** *"There are exceptions. Not important right now."*

He waved his hand, and the symbols vanished.

**Void God:** *"Chaos doesn’t just create a magic aura. At certain levels… it gives you a **curse**."*

  **Hiro:** *"Can they be controlled?"*

  **Void God:** *"No."*

  Hiro’s jaw tightened.

**Void God:** *"But they can be **understood**."*

  A smirk.

**Void God:** *"This world has a rule: max ten curses per being. And guess what?"*

  A pause.

**Void God:** *"You’ve got **all of them**."*

  Hiro froze.

  **Hiro:** *"...What?"*

**Void God:** *"Ten. The full set. Congrats."*

  **Hiro:** *"Why me?"*

**Void God:** *"Because you have **infinite mana—which means infinite chaos too**."*

The Void God stood, walking to the window, watching the blizzard.

**Void God:** *"More mana = more chaos. More chaos = stronger aura… and more curses. You’re balance. 50% mana, 50% chaos. The only one in the world."*

  Hiro clenched his fists.

**Hiro:** *"Why didn’t I know this?"*

The Void God turned. His black eyes gleamed.

**Void God:** *"Because of your **Mind Curse**. It split us. You—limited to a seven-year-old’s knowledge. Me—left with everything."*

  A beat.

**Void God:** *"Oh, and I’ve been traveling through your thoughts, learning about the world. But now that I’m a ghost? I can go **anywhere**."*

  Hiro grabbed the diary.

**Hiro:** *"I need to write this down."*

  The Void God laughed.

**Void God:** *"Exactly. Write it. I won’t repeat myself."*

  Hiro scribbled furiously.

**Void God (hovering upside-down, face inches from Hiro’s):** *"Now, the big question…"*

  A grin.

**Void God:** *"You can control mana, moving objects like telekinesis. But since you’re balance… you can **also control chaos**. Want to learn?"*

  Hiro’s pink-violet eyes flared.

  **Hiro:** *"Hell yes."*

  ---

  ### **Hiro’s Diary Entry**

  *"Today, I learned the truth.

I have 10 curses. The maximum.

I’m an anomaly. The balance of mana and chaos.

The Void God is me—but I’m not him.

  He knows more. He’s… traveled.

  Now the question:

If I learn to control chaos…

  Can I control the curses?"*

  ---

  ### **Other Beings**

Hours passed. The room dimmed, only the fireplace’s glow reflecting in Hiro’s violet eyes. The Void God, still translucent, sprawled on the chair, swinging a broken chain from his shackles.

**Void God:** *"Next thing you need to know—"* He flicked the chain. *"In this world, chaos doesn’t just cause curses and auras. Those with enough chaos get **Scars of Power**."*

  Hiro frowned.

**Hiro:** *"But there are only ten strongest!"*

**Void God:** *"Ten… plus you. Yeah, yeah, don’t look so shocked. You have them."*

**Hiro:** *"What? I don’t have glowing—"*

**Void God:** *"Your **eyes**, idiot!"* He cackled. *"You never noticed how they glow in the dark? Not boring blue like those pompous idiots—pink-violet. Looks badass, honestly."*

  Hiro touched his face reflexively.

**Void God:** *"Anyway, two exceptions in this world’s energy rules."*

  He held up a finger.

**Void God:** *"First: The World Creator. Pure mana—100%, zero chaos. Basically, God. And a total buzzkill."*

  A second finger.

**Void God:** *"Second: Summoned. Remember that masked girl with Thorgrim? She’s one."*

  Hiro’s head snapped up.

**Hiro:** *"She spoke Japanese! So she’s reincarnated too?"*

**Void God:** *"Nope. You’re the only reincarnated one. Ever. The rest? **Summoned**."*

  He stood, pacing.

**Void God:** *"Summoned are kids from your world, brought here by the Strongest. Thought they were like you—lol, nope."* He twirled a finger by his temple. *"No mana, no chaos. Empty shells. Only perk? They don’t age. But killing them? Easy."*

  Hiro’s fists tightened.

**Hiro:** *"Why not send them back?"*

**Void God (rolling his eyes):** *"Because ‘just’ doesn’t exist in magic. To send them back, you don’t just reverse a spell. You rewrite **the fabric of magic itself**."* He stopped, locking eyes with Hiro. *"And only two can do that: The Creator… or **you**."*

  Silence.

  **Hiro:** *"So… I could…"*

**Void God:** *"You could. But why bother? They live in luxury with the Strongest. Not your problem."*

Hiro sighed, collapsing onto the bed. The Void God watched him, then spoke.

**Void God:** *"Curses aren’t chains. They’re power. You just need to learn to wield them. Listen to me, and soon you’ll control them—and unlock **more**."*

  A pause.

**Void God:** *"Now that I’m a ghost, I’m hunting something. A book. Ever heard of the Sage who merged with the world? Learned forbidden truths? Wrote the **Book of the World**?"*

  Hiro blinked.

**Void God:** *"The Creator’s army killed him for it. Only a copy remains. If I find it… your training goes **ten times faster**."*

  A smirk.

**Void God:** *"Call me if you need me. I’m always in your head—even if you can’t see me."*

  Hiro yawned.

  **Hiro:** *"Fine."*

  The Void God’s silhouette faded.

  Hiro slept.
