They arrived on schedule, with no incidents. It didn't help their nerves. The mass driver was held in a gated off area with plenty of space for storage. The area around the driver was forested.

She could see troopers guarding the front gate, and sped up, telling the column to keep their pace while she went ahead. The soldiers saw us and had clearly called ahead, as she got commed a minute later.

"This is lieutenant Rolph from the 21st, this the detachment from the 61st?"

"Afirm, lieutenant. This is lieutenant Nivka of the 61st, in command of this detachment. We are arriving in sub 5 minutes. Orders are to garrison and Sally out to find insurrectionists. Yours?" She asked.

"About the same. No activity on perimeter, though."

"Good fortune then. I'm moving ahead of the column. I advise we meet to organize and strategize and plan. Your thoughts Lieutenant Rolph?"

  "Acceptable. Meeting in 10?"

  "Good enough."

They talked a bit about what to expect, what each had seen, until the column proper entered. She then got out and headed to a building that was acting as the garrisons command post.

She quickly took a few senior nco's, and entered. It was a small building, and she quickly entered what used to be a large office. There she met Lieutenant Rolph and his nco advisers.

"Lieutenant Nivka, welcome to this slice of paradise. So, let's get this done quickly as I'm sure all of us have things to do. We have our orders, how do we enact them?" He asked.

"First, the Heavies should be dug in all around the base. Use em as bunkers to base defenses on. Put a hog with em, and leave the 6 others as a rapid response force. We have 3 mechs. We use them as a core to sally out with. 1 mech, some infantry, maybe a hog. We send em out to patrol as we fortify this location." Nivka said.

Everyone looked at each other, and shrugged. Rolph snorted and smiled. "A good enough plan. We have two engineer squads with us, so they stay to prepare the FOB. Otherwise, good enough. Quick too. Now, get your troops food and rest. We have some time before we need to venture forth into the great unknown." He smiled.

Everyone chuckled, and we went to work.
